Xbox Live/PSN Ddos Attack

Some people just want to watch the world burn...

As mentioned here, a group by the name of 'Lizard Squad' threw a Ddos attack at Xbox Live and Playstation Network, which cut service to many users. This pisses me off a lot because me and my little brother just got a Xbox One for christmas....

Without a XBL connection to run the neccessary start-up downloads, many owners of new Xbox One's like myself have been screwed over. And they couldn't have picked a better time to attack, because the system was already being pushed hard by all the new systems. Kriff you, Lizard squad, kriff you...


(Please don't drag this thread down into a console war, we're here to discuss the attack, not squabble over which system is better.)

Xbox One connection has been sputtering between useless and barely functioning from about 10 am PST to the time of this post....It sucks....

Don't know when you tried to connect to PS network, but I tried at 9 am west coast time, and only manage to connect at 10 pm west coast time.

And I was checking periodically as well, it was down the whole block of time.

They both went up and down most of yesterday, Im unsure about today but people are saying Xbox live was down for a bit but is all fine now, haven't heard much on PSN

From what I've been reading the networks came back up due to the hacker group Lizard Squad, the ones perpetrating the ddos, were offered a couple thousand vouchers from Kim Dotcom. There were also reports that due to Lizard Squads libel against Anonymous in a few articles/videos that the two are going to be going at it here soon.

Lizard Squad doesn't have any remarkable skills, you're right about that - their ddos attack is pitiful by competition standards. But if Anon ever makes a full blown attack against a site (which is rare) they are more than capable of doing much more damage than a simple server crash.

Lizard Squad are a bunch of petty douches who are just out to ruin people's day, this isn't the first time they've ddos'd PSN or XBL. They've drawn the ire of Legion though, and no matter your views on them as an organization I wouldn't want to be the one on the receiving end of one of their vendettas.
