PvE, Death Disabled - Let's have some fun! 72 Hour Posting Window
It seemed that Oren had a terrible habit of taking hist students to the most toxic and destructive planets possible, it had been quite the experience and he had nearly gotten himself killed a few times. But, the Jedi on all counts was still looking up at everything. It could always be worse, couldn't it? He peered down towards his gloved right hand, the electronic fingers that made up his new hand still felt weird to him.

The scarring on the left side of his face was starting to heal, but he knew it wouldn't always go away. Well, I hope Bri likes a rough around the edges look. He thought to himself as he peered out onto the toxic wasteland and the various factories that lined the rusted walkways. With him was Nara and the young Twi'lek he had helped bring into the Jedi. He would turn to the two of them, with a soft smile. "Well, you know my fascination with Jawas." He'd chuckle.

"But today, is some concern, a whole swarm of them have invaded the planet, calling themselves part of some sort Trade Union...the specifics of their criminal warfare matter little to me, what concerns me is their destabilization of the planet's factory system. If we can, we need to talk the little guys into going home and stop that reactor plant from exploding."

He thought about the little critters stripping every pressure valve and pipe, the leaking and toxins would probably detonate, destroying half of this random rusted city. Little did the three Jedi know, things were about to get very interesting and an unlikely alliance was about to be formed.

Though the padawan really didn't have much of any experience under her belt as a Jedi, the prospect of exploring Quesh and stopping some Jawas from causing some great harm had felt like an opportunity the Twi'lek couldn't pass up. The purple skinned woman generally stayed silent unless she was spoken to, and this was likely not going to be any different. She felt uncomfortable travelling with people. Especially ones that seemed so keen to trust her after such a short amount of time.

Not that she couldn't be trusted, mind. It was just that after so long travelling alone with the hum of her ship's engines and her various readings as company, she just wasn't accustomed to this kind of thing. Her eyes shifted between the apprentice and her master, shifting her weight between her feet as she thought about the objective. Stop the Jawas, save the planet. Easy, right? She hoped that some of the droids they came across would be assembled enough that she could maybe grab herself a companion. Something to tinker with when she wasn't meditating or generally otherwise busy with her new duties as a Jedi.

Jawas.

Why did it have to be Jawas?

"Yeah, we know how you feel about Jawas." Nara had been on the receiving end of Oren's Jawa-related musings a good few times. Maybe it was the red eyes, must do something in his brain. She tried her best not to roll her eyes, trying to work on her outward signs of aggression and hostility, as the other Knights had helpfully termed it.

They'd been accompanied by the Twi'lek padawan that Oren had brought back to the temple. She seemed... quiet. Nara didn't want to push. Besides, it felt kinda weird. Not necessarily because she was another padawan or anything, mainly because she was another padawan who was clearly older than her and towering over her height. Oh well.

Nara folded her arms, looking out at the factories. "They're gonna be everywhere right now. Cutting through the pipes, letting every little chemical out into the air," she said, probably echoing what the others were thinking. "You're the Jawa expert, master, what's the likelihood of a group of criminal Jawas just getting up and heading home because we asked nicely?" she asked, but it was clear from the tone of her voice how likely she thought that was. Still, what else was there? She might not have been as keen as Oren on the Jawa populace, but she wasn't really ready to fight them.

Pidge pulled her mask up over her nose, recoiling at the stench of the place. She had never been so far from home, and she had to admit, if every ‘vacation’ of hers was like this, she’d need to stop traveling. She was with two Jedi and another purple skinned Twi’lek. Pidge had tried to make conversation but she still knew very little of why she was on this remote planet anyway. Especially with Jedi. Not that she had anything against Jedi in particular, but Pidge did buisness with some unsavory folk and she’d rather not anybody find out.

Supposedly, the city was having Jawa issues- stealing, looting, breaking pipelines, exposing wires. Maybe Pidge could salvage some useful equipment here. It wasn’t as if it was not being done already. From what she had heard, the Jawas had been leaving destruction in their wake. R4-T6 chirped enthusiastically, asking if she had all her slicing and medic supplies packed. “Don’t worry Rat, I’m prepared... I hope.”

Oren would peer towards the trio, smiling towards them all, two of his own and what he supposed was a concerned citizen. The four of them would be enough to solve the problems of this planet, and to negotiate a peaceful brokering, or so he hoped. It was risky, and there was likely hundreds of the little robed fellas running about the swamps and industrial buildings.

A boom could be felt and the ground would tremble, turning the group would see a small green explosion from a distant factory. "Well.." He'd say with a nervous laugh, "I suppose we let the force guide us," he'd say as he lead the group forward along the path. It was evident by the blast marks and various droid parts scattered about along the path, that they were along the right path.

The group would quickly find themselves being lead towards a small group of Jawas, who were looting an old land-truck which had been filled with droid parts and blasters. The critters would chitter and jump about as they searched in and out of the big trailer. Oren imagined there was most likely six or seven of them. "Well, which one of you want to do the talking?" He'd ask with a smile.

Riz'kacha had listened to the others speak, taking in their words and mulling them over internally as she examined the admittedly grim surroundings. There were only four of them, and it was hard to calculate the odds when it came to them versus an unknown amount of assailants. With their diminished size, it was also a bit harder to track them. Most unfortunate indeed.

Wordlessly, she followed Oren along the path and examined the scattered signs of attack provided by the marks. Certainly there were some blaster marks, but the explosive residue on display was troubling. She hoped that there weren't to be any explosive traps the Jawas had left behind. Of course, her eyes also scanned the destroyed droids that lie along the path. Most of them were antiques- nothing worth her time to be fixed. Others were much too large to be readily transported. She'd have to keep her eyes out.

In time, of course, the group of four came along the group of Jawas. Her eyes scanned between them, gauging weapon loadouts and their levels of awareness. Luckily, the group that outnumbered them didn't seem to notice them. At Oren's question, the Twi'lek finally spoke up, "Perhaps you would be best suited to the task, Master Oren. I am not well versed when it comes to diplomacy. I can not speak to the capabilities of the other members of our group."

Nara watched the small green explosion blossom in the distance, raising her eyebrows at it. "Subtle..." she muttered, shaking her head. She followed her master and the other two, the Twi'lek padawan she'd never really met before and the other Twi'lek with the cute droid that she admired. Though, honestly, they were all a little too busy to be discussing the finer points of droid ownership. Especially as they followed a path littered with busted, stripped droid parts.

She felt Three-B shiver in her pack, hiding from the carnage. Poor guy.

When they came across the group, Nara stood still. Her hand made it's way instinctively down towards her hip, where her blaster was hidden just beneath her coat. Just in case. Though, obviously that didn't help the attempt at diplomacy. When Oren asked who wanted to do the talking, Nara narrowed her eyes at him. He'd met her, right? He'd trained her, spent weeks talking to her... when did any of that strike him as diplomatic?

I'm about as diplomatic as a boot to the face.

She folded her arms and shook her head. "Yeah, not it, sorry."

Pidge sighed. She felt like an outsider as the Jedi all seemed to know eachother. Still, she needed to be alert. It seemed the destruction that had littered parts all over the street had been recent. There was a thick scent of burned powder, probably an explosive. These Jawas really were wreaking havoc. There was not a large population of Jawas on Coruscant where Pidge lived, so the only knowleg about Jawas she had was that she ordered Jawa Juice on occasion when visiting cantinas. She was fairly sure there was no connection.

R4-T bipped and chirped that one of the Jedi had a droid in her pack. Pidge made a mental note to ask about that, she loved droids. Scanning the path before her, she paused. “Wait. Look there”. At first it looked like a refuse pile, simply a pile of wires and plating. However, it was humming slightl, just enough so Pidge’s lekku and earcones picked it up. She followed a wire to what appeared to be an outdated motion receptor sensor, probably taken from a very old droid. Rat, noticing this too, whined indignantly, as if to say “How could they?!” Evidently, he was more concerned by the fact that Jawas had dismantled one of his kin than the fact that they were about to walk into a trap. “They aren’t making this easy for us, are they”

Oren would place a gentle hand on Pidge, as the knight attempted to calm her. "It's okay," he'd smile, "You're a friend to the Order now" he'd pull away, stepping towards the pile, he could see the various droid parts scattered about, cut and destroyed. They were not living members of the force, but they still formed bonds with us the same. "They often follow their leader," he'd say in a low tone as he bent down.

His hands would trail through the wiring, "But, they can be reasoned with." He'd pull himself up and approach the Jawa who had turned, stun blasters pointing towards him.

A wide smile would invade his face as he held out his hands, "Unchit..unchit..wanatini..wuchit." His voice would crack. I'm sure Nara thinks this is cool. The Jawa would turn towards the Jedi, the group of them jumping about and laughing.

tenor.gif

"Utini! Wuchianiti..unatinita..wabachin." One of the little hooded fellows would respond, "Unichini..uncha...Wookiee.." They would point and pull at his robes. The group of them would peer towards the Jedi and Pidge, a few of them scurrying towards the droids that were in their possession.

"Ussa..unit'bachi..." He would say with some force, as he opened up his robes, removing a few credits, "Wanchini too'chi." He would hand them over, watching with some satisfaction as the Jawas would turn away from the droids and back towards his direction, marching past him.

"Well...I told them I was looking to sell my Star Destroyer...it seems they believed me." He'd laugh.

Not knowing any Jawa, the purple Twi'lek stood perplexed as she heard the Jedi speak to the little hooded figures. Truth be told, she felt pretty uncomfortable with their guns pointed at them and she rested her hand on her hip near her own weapon just in case it was needed. In the end, it proved a moot point and as the hooded figures moved past her, she watched them with curiosity. She had always wondered what was under the hoods, after all.

At Oren's words, she raised a brow, "...I see. An interesting choice when it comes to lies. Hopefully it buys us enough time to keep moving. I suggest that we do so imminently, as Star Destroyers are quite large and they will likely see through it before long." Her eyes drifted to the other Twi'lek, who seemed to have found some sort of motion detector, "Is that motion detector linked to an explosive device? It would be quite unfortunate if there were negative consequences to triggering it."

This is so uncool, Nara thought as she watched her Master attempt to talk to the Jawas. They unnerved a little, especially when they started eyeing up her droid. She shook her head and placed her hand on her blaster pistol, glaring at one that approach. The first one of them to even so much as try to touch Three-B gets a blast between the eyes, she vowed, before adjusting her thought to something a little more Jedi-appropriate, I mean, a non-lethal zap, of course.

"Hey, you know what they say, you go big or you go home,"
Nara said with a shrug, impressed by the audacious nature of Oren's lie. "Or they're just walking us right into a trap. Haven't decided yet." She looked over at Pidge, staring at the motion tracker she'd found. It was oooooold and corroded, but it looked like it worked. Evidently it did, from how Pidge was looking at it.

"Maybe we're just lucky and it's monitoring if anyone's coming to see them. We've made ourselves known," Nara suggested nervously, eyes flitting around. "If it was an explosive well... it'd already have gone, surely? And I don't think they'd wanna set something up that they might set off themselves," she reasoned, before seeing the way the Jawas marched back towards Oren.

"Are they taking us to their boss? We should be careful. And... we shouldn't make the story too good to be true." Nara thought a little as she walked. "If they believe us, our Star Destroyer is half-broken. Good for scrapping and salvaging but not for running. Don't make it too obvious and we might just tempt the boss guy's greed."

Pidge suppressed a chuckle. She didn’t even have a ship of her own and she knew for a fact none of the other company members owned a star destroyer. The Jawas were either quite desperate or quite gullible. She set down the sensor. “It’s connected to an alarm of some sort, but not dangerous. Either the alarm didn’t go off or it’s out of my hearing range. Maybe they’re trying to tack those who move around the planet?”

”Hey. Leave him alone,”
her attention had quickly shifted away from the old tech and towards Rat, who was chirping urgently as a Jawa began knocking on his dome and flipping his switched. It even began to pry off a bit of plating from one of his legs before Pidge had shooed it away. She didn’t know if the Jawas knew basic, but she hoped the tone of her voice made it clear enough that her droid was off limits. She knew she had to be diplomatic so she hurriedly added a “Thank you” as the Jawa left. They appeared to be walking somewhere now. She caught up to the rest of her group and decided to ask the young looking girl who apparently had a droid if she knew where they were going.

The Jawa would march in a single file line, their little robed heads bobbing up and down as they scurried about, looting several things and chirping. It seemed that they would slowly go from their small band of critters into a much larger and larger group as they descended further into the industrial park.

They would find themselves around complete factory buildings being dismantled by large sandscrawler cruisers, as Jawas in various shades of robes marched too and from. Scores of B1 battle droids would be collected and lined up in rows, it seemed that whoever was leading this thing had no plans on stopping anytime soon, and things were only about to get worse.

Nara and Pidge would be pulled away, as several Jawas began to grab and pull at their droid, while Riz would be pulled towards an old droid facility, leaving Oren alone and in front of a large mega-crawler. "Well you gotta be kriffin' me.." He'd mutter as he peered towards the thing. "Nara...I want one of these things," he'd turn back, but no one was there. "Uh..."

Her eyes were caught up in a flurry of movement as the Jawas seemed to multiply, trying to keep track of them despite their numbers and rapid movements. However, all this got Riz was lost as she lost track of the people she came here with. Through keeping track of the Jawas, or at least trying to, she managed to catch sight of something else, however. Were those... Battle droids? Like actual Clone Wars era battle droids? Uh oh.

She turned to relay her findings to Oren, resting a hand on her gun before noticing that he wasn't brought with her through the crowd of Jawas pulsing this way and that. Oh dear. That's not good. Instead, she tried to make sense of her surroundings. It seemed like some sort of droid facility. Perhaps this was one of the places the Jawas were using that were causing the problems that they had come here to fix. Well, unless she was getting attacked, she figured there was no reason not to go deeper. As she moved further into the facility, hand still poised around her gun, she continued to keep an eye out for droids that interested her. There hadn't been anything yet, but... That didn't mean there wouldn't be.

Nara listened as Pidge asked her that question. Where are we going?

"No idea," she admitted with a shrug, patting her pack to make sure Three-B was okay. It was getting a little confusing now. The warrens of the place seemed to open out into that vast field. Nara narrowed her eyes to the sudden light, before seeing what was happening. In particular, those lines and lines of old droids. That worried her. Really worried her.

"That doesn't look good," she said in an aside to Pidge. "What should we-" She was interrupted by a Jawa. Or two. Or three. More of them suddenly coming close, pointing at her pack. Nara had only seconds to think about what was happening before the lunged for her pack, and Three-B squeaked in shock.

"HEY!" Nara yelled, tugging on her pack to pull it back. She pulled on the shoulder strap as a couple of Jawa's grabbed hold, trying to see inside. They chattered excitedly as they saw him poke his head out, cracked optics and everything. One started to reach out for him as Nara snarled. Three-B climbed up the bag, leaping onto Nara's arm and clambering up her coat to her shoulder in response.

"GET. OFF. MY. DROID!" she yelled as she span her pack. A Jawa lifted up, still clinging onto it. Nara span with it and felt the bag tear, sending her rations and repair kit tumbling to the filthy floor. It also sent the Jawa tumbling off into the distance. Nara paused, holding her torn pack.

"Oh son of a b..." she started to say, before looking around. Nothing but her, Pidge and a bunch of angry Jawas.

"Where did the others go?" Nara asked Pidge, worry in her eyes.

The heart of the Jawa tribe, it sounded cool and maybe at one time it probably would have. But, at this moment with nearly twenty sandcrawlers lined about, distant explosions and a swarm of Jawas running rampant, it seemed improper to geek out right now. Besides, he didn't quite know where anyone else quite went, so hopefully his Jawa trade language would be able to get some sort of trick done again.

All around were various tables with Jawas lined up, stripping mechanical parts and slowly passing them down, in some sort of weird assembly like line. It seemed that their chief was hell bent on stripping this whole planet dry if they weren't careful. I really shouldn't let that happen, Nara loves these stupid droids and well, I don't want to have to deal with her complaining the whole ride home--she hates these things.

Oren would slowly make his way towards the center of the mega-crawler, where a Jawa sat on a throne of scrapped droids. His robes were well kept and it seemed that everyone here bowed down to him. "Ukinichit TUCHET! TUCHET!" The Jawa would pull on the Jedi's sleeve, motioning towards the plump Jawa who was sitting on his scrap throne.

A whole stream of Jawa would begin to chant, "Tuchet! Tuchet! Tuchet!"

Oren with some quick thinking would slowly bow, "Unchibini Tuchet muchin." He would say as his hands folded behind his back, "Unbonituch ichitu..tuchiti" He would point towards the distance. While he lied that he had a star destroyer, he did see one crashed within an acidic lake a few hundred kilometers as they descended into the atmosphere.

The chieftan would tilt his head as he contemplated the man's offer, "Unchibi qubuni.." He would point towards the factories, as if he was reluctant to give up the strip job.

"Star Destroyer utuni..chichi..bin." He would point to the distance, though his eyes would catch the glimpse of a little jawa child using his hand to float a C-3P0 model droid's head in the air. Is he force sensitive...this gives me an idea..here goes nothing.

"Uchini..star destroyer chichi.." He would stress once more, "Juto..Jedi..techichi.bun chi." He'd say pointing towards the boy. "honubichi tuani ich, Tuchet." The boy being raised within the Jedi would be prestigious and could bring a great name to the Tuchet family, and the massive star destroyer would provide them with years of scavenging.

The King would contemplate the Jedi's words for a few moments before nodding, with a squeel. He would hop down from the scrap pile and pick up his young child holding him in the air as he chanted, "Jedi untichi binchit! Utunini!" The Jawa all around would begin to dance and several of them would hop and grab the Jedi's sleeves, motioning for him to do the same.

Not sure what to do, Oren would quickly dance around in circles, waving his hands in the air with the other Jawa, secretly hoping that Nara would not catch a glimpse of what he was doing. This is so uncool, hopefully I don't embarress her in front of her new friends....or Maybe I should? He'd laugh as he was handed the boy and hundreds of Jawas would begin to slowly pick up their things and motion towards the distant star destroyer. You're so smart Oren...good thinking.

He would peer down towards the little child who squealed in his hands, "Hi little guy..time to meet your sister," he'd peer up, wondering where the kriff they had all run off to.

Whatever the others were up to, Riz'kacha wanted to figure out what the kriff was going on with this droid factory. Especially now that battle droids were involved. She didn't want there to be another Clone Wars, after all. Delving deeper into the factory, the crowds of Jawas seemed to disperse a bit, giving her a good look at some of the machinery at work. Amidst the missing safety locks that had likely either been removed or had degraded from these machines long ago, the Twi'lek noticed a few things.

Things she had almost done when trying to fix things aboard her ship, had the machinery manual prevented her from doing so. Her blue eyes squinted at the various mechanisms present, noticing that a sort of residue was building up. That couldn't be safe. That being said, she knew better than to put any part of herself near an industrial machine that was still active, so she looked for some sort of release lever or button or something. Surely there was a way to put a stop to this thing covertly.

"Look, I'm sorry! It wasn't... It's not... you grabbed my bag you little piece of..." Nara groaned, glaring into the red eyes of an indignant looking Jawa. She sighed and stopped, tensing herself and balling her fists. It was so tempting to just kick the little asshole and watch him skim over the heads of the others. But calm. Calm. Besides, kick one of them and then she'd be completely overwhelmed by the tiny, angry things.

She raised her hands and moved carefully, slowly, trying not to draw too much ire. She might not have been able to speak Jawaese, but she hoped that the 'two hands raised and slow movements' position would be fairly universal. As she did, she approached a line of B1 Battle Droids. They didn't look particularly great. Grimy, oil-slicked bodies and rusty-looking joints. Nara reached out and ran her fingers down one, feeling the corrosion... and the general grey grime on her skin.

"Eugh..."
she muttered to herself, checking them all out. Battle droids weren't really her area of expertise, but how difficult could they be, really? Just a different kind of programming. And a lot more processing power on rifles.

"Three-B," she said, feeling her droid stir and nod. "Can you get in their I/O ports and interface? See if they've got any leftover protocols or programming still in place," she whispered to him, as quietly as she could. "Don't let 'em see you." If she was thinking right, there could be enough vestigial programming or code-structure left to... well, do something interesting. Maybe they'd start shooting. Maybe they'd just explode. Maybe they'd become loyal to her and she'd have an army of robot troops to...

That's stupid. They'll probably just collapse into rust and dust, she thought as she leaned in, feeling Three-B scuttle onto one of the skinny droids, clambering down the back to find an interface port.

Pidge was caught off guard when Nara addressed her. To be honest, she had no recollection of the others leaving of getting ahead, but she had also likely been too deep in thought to notice. Now they were alone. Wonderful. Pidge would have to look after the padawan, which Nara would probably hate, but Pidge was bigger and older. She might as well try to befriend the girl. “You do much work with droids?” she asked as the young Jedi directed her own (rather adorable, If Pidge did say so herself) droid to check out the battle droids.

She had originally been shocked to see them, they were like a piece of history. These should be in a museum, not this junkyard, Pidge mused. She hoped they weren’t operational. Then the realization struck her... the jawas had an entire army. If they ended up fighting, things would go south very quickly. Checking to make sure there were no eavesdropping, hooded little figures around, Pidge waved over to Nara and grinned.
“Let‘s make these a bit less operational, just in case.”

Oren tilted his head as he looked at the squealing little Jawa toddler. His gloved hands reaching up to bop Oren's nose with a giggle. Oren couldn't help but smile at the energy and light that poured from the child. He was unsure how in the kriff he pulled it off, but it seemed they did it. As long as the others didn't mess with stuff, it would probably turn out okay.

He watched as the little Jawas marched and collected up their things, a few of them grabbing battle droids and pulling them towards their carts. Oren would turn back towards the Jawa, "Tuchet..uniti ban jiji." He'd ask, confirming whether or not they were done with the drastic destruction and creation of death droids.

"Star Destroyer ginini..wutuni uzumu." The king would say as he peered towards his son. As long as they took care of him, and provided him with the strength and resolve to bring honor and recognition to their name, then Tuchet would keep his promise. Oren took a sigh and smiled. Still waiting for those darn kids...
