In the absence of oversight from the New Republic or the Alliance, many planets faced troubles they had taken for granted. Law enforcement was lax and the dissolution of the Sector Rangers meant that corruption and crime were at an all time high in the Core. This meant that the Jedi workload had grown exponentially, which was a good and bad thing. The Order had a chance to show their value to the galaxy, but more crime was never a good thing.

While Ezra was focused on his own corporation, he still had Jedi missions to fulfill in between his studies. He took this one on because it sounded intriguing and two, selfishly, it could allow him to set down some roots on a critical Core planet. He was assigned to work with another Knight and he could only hope it wasn’t someone obnoxious. A snooty man by nature, Ezra was quick to judge others.

The Thorne was dressed in civilian clothes, along with some shades and a hat to keep his identity on the down low. He didn’t need randoms on the streets pointing out how he was the ISC President’s son. The mission report said that the governor’s daughter had gone missing and was believed to be kidnapped. There were rumors about how an extremist group may have been involved - one that was trying to incite a civil war.

Ezra waited at a caf shop in Hanna City, preparing to go meet with the Governor after his companion arrived.

Rair wasn't going to admit it, but being assigned a job on a core world was exactly what she needed. Civilization came in all kinds of forms, but for her, the hustle and bustle of a big city was her favorite. It was nice to sit on an open field sometimes, and quaint villages had their charm, but all of it felt empty after a while.

No one would ever accuse Chandrila of being empty.

Foregoing the long, flowy robes she had adopted since becoming a knight, the Jedi found herself in the far more comfortable tunic, breeches, and wraps that she had worn as a padawan. It was a little more discreet, but also just suited her better, she decided. Perhaps after this, she might keep the robes packed away for a bit.

Stepping into the caf shop where she had been told to meet, she waited a bit awkwardly just inside the front door. Spotting a contact you had never met was difficult at times when you couldn't look at pictures. She had began learning tehnometry recently, but wasn't quite skilled enough with it yet to handle issues like this.

Instead she played a guessing game. There weren't many in the shop which helped. Of those that were, there were three small groups, a line of about two, and one man sitting by himself. The last didn't have anything in front of him like he was working, which meant... waiting, most likely. Taking a chance, the young knight veered off and moved over to where he rested.

"Knight Thorne?" she asked softly. She didn't bother with trying to be sneaky, but if she was wrong, she didn't really want to announce it to everyone and embarrass herself.

Ezra looked up when his companion arrived. A Miraluka? He hadn’t worked with one before and he regarded her curiously. She wasn’t looking towards his eyes. He knew they could see through the Force, whatever the hell that meant. He almost felt naked - could she see his aura in the Force? Could she see the darkness left in him by association of Darth Raze? He pushed the thoughts aside, taking a sip of his caf as he motioned for her to sit down. Wait, could she see that gesture?

“Yes,” He announced, his tone its usual curt. She couldn’t see that he had an aloof air about him and icy silver eyes, “Nice to meet you Knight Rair,” Ezra said, pulling up the report, “So Governor Kunda’s daughter has been missing for three days now. Local authorities haven’t been able to find anything and are considering writing it off just because of how much time has passed. To be honest…even I’m a bit skeptical she’s alive.”

Ezra looked at the report as he read the details, “If it was someone holding her hostage, wouldn’t they have made demands by now?” He asked, wondering what she had to say. He was thankful she didn’t bring up the ISC, his father or the Thorne name. It was a refreshing change of pace.

As the man motioned for her to sit down after confirming his name, the young knight gave a soft sigh. She hadn't totally messed up immediately which was excellent. Taking a seat, she placed her hands in her lap and faced him so she could show he had her full attention as she listened.

"Thank you. I'm Rair. Three days, hmm? That is a good amount of time without demands." Nose scrunching up, the girl went through a quick list of possibilities. Obvious one was she ran away. Then there was being taken for something unrelated to money. Accident that got covered up or something happened to her before demands could be made. There were a dozen others, of course, but starting with the basic list was a good idea.

"How old is the girl? And who reported her missing? Do we have the local's files or can we gain access to them?" She clicked her tongue against the roof of her mouth. There were a hundred questions she had already, though if they had the files a good amount should be answered if even the basic due diligence had been done.
