BIOGRAPHY
Born on the adopted homeworld of the Miraluka in 6946 BBY to Biran Atar and his wife Rell, Yvan was their first child and only son. With the galactic war still in full swing for the entirety of his parent's lives both Biran and Rell understood the immense responsibility for those who could stem the tide of darkness to do so. As such, when the Jedi Watchman came to ask the couple if they would be willing to allow their young son to be taken to Tython to become a Jedi they readily agreed. Yvan would leave Alpheridies at the age of three, never to see his parents or newly born sister again.

The life on Tython was one that was both exuberant and strained for the youngling. How could it not be, to be in the presence of a place so filled with the light side of the force that none of his fellow younglings could fully appreciate. Yet the presence of the adults was always fluctuating and rare were those steady in the light of the force in spite of being touched by the war. Being so young Yvan could hardly tell that those who fluctuated more than the others were those who would come to fall, either to darkness or death. The weight of that realization would not truly be understood until he was older. In the mean time his formative years were spent with his friends and his teachers. He learned the basics of the force, although being a Miralukan he did have a bit of a head start. He also learned the basics of light saber combat, and while a middling student in the saber forms the youth loved the exercises for watching all his fellow younglings glowing brilliantly in unison as their horizons expanded. At the age of six he was chosen to travel to Ilum with three other of his fellows, an Atoan named Adi, and Ithorian named Kodo, and a Human named Nira, to gather their Kyber crystals. Among those selected Adi and Kodo were chosen for their blade work and Nira and Yvan for their skills in the force. The bond among the latter two younglings had already lead them to being fast friends, and when the Gathering commenced Yvan helped her find her crystal as she did him. A month later the four would be split up from their fellow younglings and each other to become Padawans to meet the demanding times of the war.

It was truly an unfortunate turn that had caused this idyllic life to end. Yvan, who was at the side of his master the Jedi Knight Bal-am Khel, first felt the terrible wrongness echoing through the force over the only home he had ever known. He was by no means the only one who walked the path of the Consular who felt the attack of the Exile hordes before the invasion began. But he was certainly among the youngest at the age of seven. It was the first real taste of the war that he would come to feel, and it would not be the last. The initial carnage of the onslaught was like a wound that would constantly break upon the young padawan day after day. Feeling this filled Yvan with a strong desire to try and stay and help. But it was decided among the Knights who took Padawans of the Gathering a year before who remained on Tython to leave the planet with their young charges. The lives of the future of the Jedi order being more important, or so they claimed. But in his own master Yvan saw the fluctuating of the light he had known most of his life, the traces of fear.

Two years passed and Tython fell, a year later the Jedi council decided to abolish the rank of Padawan to meet the need of Jedi warriors in the field. Yvan's time with his master would be forced to take an interesting turn with that decision. Too young and inexperienced to be immediately made a full fledged knight, he would instead have to go through intensive training under Bal-am Khel. Two more years passed and while his connection to the force had grown his skill with a saber had continued to progress at that middling pace. It was due to this realization that Khel decided to focus Yvan's sword play style on form VI, Niman. But his progress had proved to finally be satisfactory enough to become a full fledged Knight. He was twelve at the time, and for the following years he continued to work closely with his former master.

The war carried the pair into the very thick of some intense combats, and for his part Yvan managed himself rather well in spite of his youth. It was during one such campaign though when the Miralukan was 17 that he was reintroduced to his former friend, Nira on a mission to the outer rim to hunt a suspected exile. While the war had taken its toll on the human, Yvan could see the light of the force shining just as brilliantly as it had on Ilum. For his part he loved that she was able to keep her light so pure, so brilliant, especially when his friend and former master's light had dimmed so considerably during the years of war. In the down time between their mission the two would spend hours together talking. Sharing stories of their lives since Tython, of friends lost, and recounting the embarrassing stories of their childhoods. While ultimately a fruitless hunt in terms of the exile, a much different fruit would begin to bud in the two young knights.

Over the course of the year either Nira or Yvan would make sure that they would manage to be sent on the same missions. All but abandoning their former teachers for each other's company, and coming to rely on each other for everything. For Nira's teacher this was nothing as she was proud to see her former student striking out on her own. But for Bal-am Khel this was the beginning of his final spiral to the darkness. For so long Yvan had offered insight to his friend and uplifted him when he noticed the fluctuation of his light. But without the monitoring by Yvan the fear and worry eventually opened the gateway to the dark and Bal-am Khel would vanish from the order. A fact that Yvan proved blissfully unaware of until much, much later.

In the mean time the bond between Nira and Yvan continued to grow stronger by the year, and in spite of the teachings of the Jedi that bond would eventually grow to love. At first an innocent love, one barely understood between the two. But in time it grew and grew until neither was able to conceal it from the other. The passion born for each other was pure, or so Yvan felt, and he sealed it deep within his heart. He was twenty four at the time, and a year later he would marry his beloved Nira in secret from the order. The two remained an effective team for four more years when a new challenge came to their lives in Nira's pregnancy. Realizing that they would not be able to hide this from the order Yvan and Nira abandoned the order and the war for each other. Fleeing to Alderaan to try they sought to hide within the country side of the highly populated planet, and raise their child in secret together. Managing for many months in perfect peace the two could hardly see the tragedy about to occur. At eight months in and week after Nira's thirtieth birthday the mother to be had an unexpected knock at her door while Yvan was getting supplies for the two. She hardly recognized Bal-am Khel in the ragged state he was in, but she did recognize the taint of the dark side within his eyes as she answered the door. Reacting almost on instinct she reached out through the force for her lightsaber. Her focus split for just long enough for the experienced Exile to fling her back with the raw strength of the dark side. In a slow, taunting pace he would stride into their home, defiling it with his presence. He came to mock Nira for the state she had fallen into, asking for his former padawan and if he was to be back soon. For her part she tried to resist the pressure placed upon her body. Aiming to throw her assailant away and being rewarded for her effort by a stronger push that slammed her back against the wall. Bal-am continued on though, as if Nira's efforts were nothing to him. He explained how he had come to resent his Padawan from leaving him, and blamed Yvan for his fall to the dark side. More over he spoke of his hatred for the apparent whore who blinded his student and took him away. In that truly monologuing fashion he explained how he had come for his revenge, how he tracked them down, and how he would take from Yvan his future just as Yvan had taken his. The pleasure in what was to come, well that was just an added bonus.

By the time Yvan had returned he could feel something was wrong, there was a taint in his home...and a presence he had not felt in a long time. Never before had he run so fast without the aid of the force. But alas the work of his former master had already concluded and the exile was long gone. What remained was the wreckage of his home, and the mutilated form of his wife barely clinging to life. Rushing to her side, Yvan clung desperately to his wife. He asked with aching voice who had done this to her and struggling she answered his former teachers name. Yvan could hardly feel the pangs of anger of the fear and grief. His grip tightening and holding her to his bosom so tightly, as if doing so would stop the light from fading from her and their child's being. He begged, he pleaded for her to stay with him, to fight and not leave him alone. Instead she told him in ragged voice not to fear, that she would live on with their child in the force. The pain in that moment was unlike any he had ever known, and with all the hurt he screamed and the force exploded outward from him to knock his very home down upon himself. Meanwhile, a few kilometers away, Bal-am Khel smiled.

It would be three full days before Yvan Atar rose from the rubble of his house. His face badly marred by a jagged piece of one of their walls that would leave the left half of his mouth in a permanent snarl from the scar that ran from his forehead to his lip. The mourning of his wife had given way to the burning desire for revenge, and beneath it all the constant pain of his lost love and child. Yvan buried his wife's corpse and taking both their blades he set out to get a ride off world to begin his hunting anew. For all the years since he left Alderaan he had yet to find Bal-am Khel, but his desire for revenge had splintered off of the desire to end his former teacher's life. It had eventually grown to encompass the Jedi Order as a whole, for it was their tenants that forced them to flee the protection of the order and ultimately caused Nira's death. If it would lead to the destruction of all his enemies then Yvan was happy to give himself to the dark. The taint of the dark side fueled his powers, and weakened his vision. As if to egg him on he found himself haunted by visions of his wife's spirit the further he gave himself to the dark. Her sad eyes forever haunting Yvan, and her light a constant reminder of what he lost.

Personality
Yvan Atar is a man who has been completely and utterly broken and experienced a loss so great that few ever would recover. He is a man who has nothing left in life but his hatred and pain to keep him going. Only when he has seen the Order that failed both himself and his beloved Nira, and Bal-am Khel destroyed would he be ready to end his life. To that end he has plans to pervert what he already views as the already rotten Order and turn its own against it. Only by showing the Jedi their folly in the losing their people to the darkness and find themselves destroyed by that very darkness will he be happy. In that same vein, just killing Bal-am Khel is too simple, and the wicked mutilations he has spent over a decade planning for his former master are almost too gruesome to write.

To meet his goals he has decided to turn all his cunning and vindictiveness upon the galaxy as a whole. Intelligent, wicked, and with a more brain over brawn approach he operates as many of the Inquisitors do to subvert and ultimately break any Jedi unfortunate enough to fall into his clutches.

Still in spite of his calculated approach to attaining his desires, one can't help but notice a touch of madness in the man. Often he will find himself talking to himself, pleading to a Nira to wait for him or to not look at him. When confronted about it Yvan will often deny the entire episode, but when the episodes are so frequent it is hard not to see him as touched.

Abilities and Skills
The Force: Yvan is an incredibly adept Force user having spent almost all of his life fighting in the war ravaged galaxy as a Consular. He is especially skilled in energy manipulation and force sense, with natural Force Sight as a Miraluka. He has also shown promise in mental manipulation, and will often try to use these skills to play on the fears of others after knowing full well how powerful a tool it is.

Where Yvan clearly lacks his more his physical capabilities. He had never been the greatest duelist and while his preferred style of form VI doesn't have any drawbacks it also doesn't have advantages to capitalize on. This leads to trouble with those especially skilled in lightsaber combat, and if he can't out maneuver them with the force than he is not likely to come out the victor of the fight. Likewise he also isn't that skilled in augmenting his physicality through the force, and while he can do basic abilities they tend to put a great strain on his body to do it for long periods of time. As such his worst possible opponent is one who excels in Lightsaber combat and is especially skilled in augmenting their physical attributes through the force.

Yvan will often try to employ Dun Möch in combat to demoralize opponents and throw them off enough for him to gain an edge.
Possessions
Yvan can often be found moving about in pure white robes and gloves that cover most of his skin. He eschews the more traditional dark colors to more readily pass himself off as something other than an Exile. More over he believes the white color of his robes shows the purity of his desire to see the Jedi destroyed. In conjunction with the robes Yvan has turned the normal Miralukan bandages, or mask, to hide their lack of eyes on its head. What he wears instead is an ornately done silver face mask that covers his entire face save for where his eyes would be were he a normal human.

He wields his original single hilt light saber whose kyber crystal has been bled red. A symbol of the pain that he has lived with for over a decade.

He also has a green kyber crystal hanging about his neck on a necklace. The crystal having once belonged to his wife's lightsaber, and taken from the blade shortly after leaving Alderaan.
