Namadaii

Ancient Sith Colosseum

1200 local time

The air inside of the coliseum was unbelievably hot and despite the unrelenting sun and sand beneath their feet, still thick and humid. It was heavy with the sweat and spittle coming from the throngs of ravenous fans that had flooded inside to be entertained by bloodshed. You could taste them on the breeze, a cruel irony that the only respite from the heat also made one want to vomit.

Aadya stood on one side of the fighting area, her eyes staring intently at the opposite end where her opponent would enter. She had no idea who or what they may be, though it didn't really matter she supposed.

They were going to die.

Malou stood just inside the gate which led into the arena, carefully securing her armored blindfold onto her face. As she did, she reflected back onto why she had entered this competition in the first place. The acolyte knew her chances of winning the tournament were low, but it wouldn't stop her from giving everything she had. To her, this was a test. Could she apply everything she'd learned to fight against the most dangerous opponents she had yet to face? In times of duress, could she keep her wits about her? When she felt fatigued and tired, could she pull on the Force to keep her going as she once did on Exegol?

It was a test of strength, and the Sith would be watching.

After taking a deep breath to calm her nerves, Malou banished them to the corners of her mind and stepped out from the shade of the gateway into the bright sun of Namadii. She wore the armor of Darth Phobos, and had her two lightsabers hooked onto her belt, one of which was the red leather-bound saber she found on Taris. She stood there, unmoving for a moment, on her side of the arena as she summoned every bit of resolve to her side.

'Failure is not an option.'

The announcer turned on his microphone.

"Three, two, one... begin!"

Of all the things Aadya expected to greet her on the other end of the arena, a red skinned, blindfolded child was definitely not on the Sith Deathbattle bingo card. The flutter nervousness inside of her gut betrayed the steely, unblinking gaze she greeted her opponent with.

Upon the announcers proclamation, Aadya's lightsaber snapped into her right hand immediately, its blade igniting with that familiar snap-hiss and the smell of burnt ozone. The crowd erupted the moment they saw true weapons drawn and Aadya couldn't help but let the fervor of the crowd harden her resolve.

It would take little time for Aadya's idle steps towards Malou to turn into a full sprint, the distance she was looking to cover being maybe fifteen meters. The force was building within her as she ran, adrenaline swirling with the power of the darkside pumping through her veins like battery acid.

A ball of force energy would build in Aadya's hand as she ran and about halfway towards Malou, her hand would outstretch, sending a telekinetic blast toward the young girl's chest. If her attempt to destabilize her opponent worked - though, the fight would be over before it even began if it did - Aadya would follow up accordingly with her lightsaber. If not, well, she'd react to whatever would come.

As Aadya's saber ignited to life, as did Malou's. In one fluid motion the Miralukan child pulled one saber to her hand and shifted her left foot back to stabilize herself in a defensive stance. Her saber was held pointed towards the ground on her right, and her left hand was free. When Aadya began to sprint, Malou pulled the Force tightly around her. It built until the Firrerreon was within several meters of her, then was sent out in a burst of energy. It met something before it hit the other girl though, and dust and dirt flew up from the hot ground and billowed out into the air as the two Force waves collided.

It was not exactly as she had planned, but it at least did something. As Aadya dashed forward through the clouded air to strike at her, Malou would quickly sidestep, hoping her opponent's vision was obscured by the dust. As her original ignited saber swept down to strike at the older girl's legs from her left, Malou's free hand would call her second saber to her palm and ignite it. Immediately after, she would follow up with a strike from the new saber, swinging it up across Aadya's side as she passed the acolyte.

Her force attack meeting a rival and the resulting flurry of sand and dust wasn't exactly what Aadya was expecting, but at least it showed her opponent would not be dealt with easily. There was nothing worse than hoping for a fight and for that fight to be over before it started.

Since her force attack had nowhere near the desired effect on on her opponent, it wasn't much for Aadya to change her strategy somewhat, having already been formulating a potential plan b when she launched her attack in the first place.

As she came through the dust, Aadya slammed on the brakes, sliding through the sand and pivoting her body to be square with her opponent. Keeping her saber even, she would catch Malou's attack towards her legs low on her blade, near the cross guard, the lightsabers tip angled down and away.

Noticing the other blade on Malou's hip begin to twitch, Aadya would use her offhand to send it flying through the air with the force before it would reach its destination, hopefully to fall somewhere and get lost in the sand.

Breaking off their crossed blades, Aadya would take a step back from Malou but remain on her guard. She wanted to study her opponent and was content not to be on the offensive, at least for now.

Malou's second blade was tossed off to the side, but the blind girl's Force vision meant that she knew exactly where it had landed. She wasn't in a position to grab it quite yet, but it had rolled off somewhere behind her.

As Aadya would break off and step back, Malou would use her now-still-free hand to send a wave of the Force directly at Aadya. The force wave sent the dusty air into a frenzy again, and seeing as the other girl was still somewhat close by, the wave would hit her like a truck would push her back at least quite a bit. Malou used this opening to swing that same hand back, and after a second, her saber snapped to her open palm. She ignited it, then with both sabers in her hands she advanced towards Aadya.

The Miralukan brought both of her sabers swiftly down on the older girl.

Her opponent was starting to become predictable. Instead of bracing against it, Aadya would go up and over it. The flurry of sand and dust did little to effect her vision, though. It was clear that her opponent was not familiar with Firrerreo and how their eyes worked. Aadya had nictating eyelids that protected her from such trivial things like dust and debris.

Landing back on her feet, Aadya would go back on the offensive. She couldn't get to Malou before the girl got hands on her second saber, but she was more than prepared to handle the attack that followed.

Holding her saber with both hands for increased stability, Aadya caught both of Malou's blades with her own in such a way that the tip of her lightsaber was pointed towards Malou's left pectoral. With the tiniest motion of her thumb, Aadya flipped a switch on her lightsaber. Its blade would extend almost instantly, nearing nearly double its length.

With the way it was aimed, it likely would have pierced Malou's armor with ease, hopefully rendering her left arm useless, or possibly even partially severing it.

Either way, almost as quickly as it came Aadya's blade would retract and she would push away from Malou again. She was not looking to kill the other acolyte, not anymore. But she would if she had to.

Malou's two sabers fell into Aadya's block, and immediately she pulled her right saber off of it. Her left saber slid across Aadya's blade towards the tip as she twisted and lifted her right arm back with the intention of striking somewhere else at the other acolyte. She was interrupted by the sudden change in her opponent's blade, which extended and retracted in the span of a moment. If Malou had not pulled back to strike at Aadya again, it might've punctured into her shoulder. However, because the right side of her body rotated back as she prepared to strike, the saber did not cause quite so much damage.

The blade did puncture her armor, though it only grazed the surface of her skin. 'Shit.' Malou flinched and suddenly pulled back, putting several feet of distance between her and Aadya as she assumed a defensive position with her sabers in case her opponent decided to push. Her skin had been burnt by the saber, but continue to be burned by the heat of the damaged armor. Teeth still clenched together, the acolyte began to pull the Force inside and around her, ready to defend herself should Aadya advance. Armed with new knowledge about her lightsaber, she was reluctant to get back in close quarters just yet.

Aadya's lightsaber only just missed its intended mark, though even the grazing hit might prove to be enough. While her second set of eyelids were still up, she could see into the infrared, which meant Aadya could easily spot the part in Malou's armor still slagged by the touch of her lightsaber.

Making no attempt to close the gap between she and Malou, Aadya instead focused her attention, and the force, on the heat emanating from her armor. It wouldn't take long for Malou to notice that the heat was spreading across her entire torso. Aadya was utilizing an application of pyrokinesis, manipulating the heat that already existed which required much less stamina and concentration than creating fire that wasn't already there.

The red acolyte would have to figure out a solution to her problem soon, otherwise the pain from the heat would become unbearable. Aadya would keep her fingers curled tightly around the hilt of her saber, keen eyes forward and wary of what may come.

Whatever it was, she would be ready.

Malou noticed the heat, but because she had already gathered the Force around her, it did not take too much effort for her to stop it. The armor suddenly stopped heating up as Malou used the Force to cease the spread in a similar fashion to how she'd quelled the flames on Exegol. If there was one thing Malou had spent a large amount of time studying, it was pyrokinesis. Her master considered it incredibly important for her to learn so she was familiar with it.

The acolyte did not advance on her opponent even after this, though she still remained in a defensive position. She began to circle to her right, and would continue to do so until she had her back to the open arena, so long as Aadya remained in front of her.
