A Gambler's Tale

I've been meaning to get myself back into the swing of things with Ryiek, but haven't had the time or motivation. There have been countless plans that never got off the ground with him, including a few small-time heists that were supposed to have taken place a month ago or so, yet nothing ever works with him. Either people lose interest since it is a very specific topic, or they get tired of waiting on me to make the opening post. I happen to be incredibly slow when it comes to that sort of thing.

With the microjump fast approaching, I might as well start the misadventure without further ado. This will be a four part thread, though each part is completely dependent on the opening, which in turn is dependent on what happens.

The gist of it is that Ryiek is sending a few messages through underworld contacts. He's looking to get a crew together for the biggest heist in history. In essence, he wants to hit up the Galactic Bank, while rigging systems to send all deposits out to his crew with a bunch of fancy technology that will be explained in detail later.

For the crew, Xeno and Radzkie have expressed interest, but I want more than two people involved. I'm up for any twists and turns feasible, so this is open to anyone who can realistically get involved. If you have a Jedi and want to stop us, feel free to try. A member of SOLAG who happens to be in the area? Be my guest to attempt to take us down. I don't care exactly what you want to join as really. I just want the development to be lasting for all parties in a way that promotes the characterization of everyone in the thread.

Awesome, Sree, I'd love to have Kira as part of the team.

And Lavi, you can make whatever you'd like. If you want to be part of the team, then smuggler would be the way to go. Does anyone have a preference for starting location? I was thinking Corellia, as that seems to make the most sense considering the scope of the heist, but any and all suggestions are welcome.

Well, where is the galactic bank? Is it planetside, or is it like a space vault? Is it near Coruscant, Corellia, is it classified, is it fiarly public knowledge, etc.

As for the meeting place, Nar Shaddaa and Depatar are like the criminal's paradise. If you want more official locations, Coruscant and Taris have decent underworlds under their topside cities. Corellia is very netural, so it can be a meeting place criminals of any kind (and has been, smugglers are popular for this).

To be completely honest? I have no idea where the official Galactic Bank is. I'm pretty sure it's on Corellia, which is why I thought that would be a good place to start, though planetside or space vault is a good question. Worst comes to worst, we just wing it in a way that makes it more fun to Rp out. =x

For the meeting, do you want to have to Rp out the trip to the bank on shuttles (which could take a timeskip or some filler posts) or just be right there? I figured that starting out by the bank would make it easier, and everyone's entrance post could come up with a reason for why they have the note along with how they arrived at Ryiek's locale.

Well, when I think of a bank, I think of either a space station vault or a Fort Knox-like treasury. Either work for me, but if I had to guess, since banks are all over the galaxy, a huge galaxy bank would probably be a station, since the galaxy's biggest bank would have a lot of money.

I don't really mind where the meeting happens.

We should start by the bank. It'd be right to the action and draw everyone in.

That would be great if the bank was a building on a planet, but I like the idea of it being a vault in space. That could potentially lead to dozens of fun endings, and it would be a refreshing change from simply grabbing the money and making a break for it. So, we'll start on Corellia and say that the bank is the nearby space station, approximately half a day away through traditional routes and whatnot.

I'd be willing to pitch in Valentine Lockhart, aka Doc Love. He's a smuggler, medic, and hacker all bundled up in one lovely package.

That is a rather large crew at this point... I had hoped for someone to want to play the opposing party, but I guess the PvP aspect isn't so appealing. /sigh

Well, I guess I could offer Naval Captain Bianca Lockhart to oppose the group. I'd offer my Jedi, Zolotoy Tsviets, but he wouldn't stand much of a chance since he's only a Padawan.

Can you post a list of who's what in your team and the opposition?

Not really... the who's on who's side has yet to be determined. I think pretty much everyone who has posted here has opted to be part of the crew, but we can't be sure until the characters have met Ryiek. He isn't exactly a likable guy. =P

Howdy.

Just noticed you need people to oppose the group and I'd like to offer Dravenkt to oppose you. Dravenkt is a mandalorian warrior turned to bounty hunting and merc work. He's mainly employed by the hutts but takes side jobs to make the ends meet.

I think it would be good to have a more sinister pursuer than just the republic. Where as the 'good' guys have rules and morales Dravenkt has neither. He will happily torture, kill, intimidate, lie, cheat and a variety of other underhanded tactics just to get his hands on you. He's a tough cookie too who really dosen't have an inch of give in him. I was thinking after the heist is pulled a bounty could be placed on the group, leading to Dravenkt pursuing them in the later threads.

What are your thoughts?

That's exactly the sort of thing I was hoping to accomplish when I started this thread. :D

I wanted to start a string of open threads that would have IC repercussions on every person involved. Xeno and I briefly discussed a possibility where one of the members of the crew is captured by the RSF and sent to rot during the timeskip, and having bounty hunters after us would lead to further development as well. You could easily join in the thread right now by having your character pick up the note from a recent bounty and track it to set up a new mark.
