Pretty much. I sort of envision the Sith philosophy of the strength of self being part of the Sacred Band's internal culture, while also not being necessarily beholden to the more religious aspects of the Sith, including the philosophies of the Force and reverence of the dead. So the Sacred Band still follow Sith idealogies to a certain extent, but they're much more pragmatic about it as well, which in turn is a source for conflict between them and the more mystical Sith Order, who they're more or less on equal footing with in terms of hierarchy within the larger Sith kingdom. I think that last point is important to note, as well - I don't want people thinking that membership in the Sacred Band is confining yourself to be an underling. You can backchat your peers in the Sith all you like tbh - after all, the old Sith Empire was ruled by the Sith Order, and look how that turned out. You've kind of got justification for looking down your nose at the Sith Order, if you choose to.
The way I would look at a Sacred Band character is to build off of a single question - how does one believe in, and fight for the Sith cause without being a Force user or believing in the mystical elements of Sith culture? You could be a political idealist at heart, or come from a warlike culture that finds more in common with the Sith's policy of rule by force than the diplomacy and trade of the Republic. You could be in it for the excitement, the money and/or the glory. You could be a patriot, seeking to revitalize the Empire of old. Or you could choose to not buy into any of it at all and question your place within the Sacred Band and possibly seek to change the culture from within. There's a lot to play with.
