Would be cool if at some point a senator loses reelection against another player in a pvp debate or whatever. Then thenlosjng Senator joins the BA or works to gain his spot back next round somehow.
yeah lets not, i cant keep up with anyone in PVP and i dont want to suddenly not be a senator anymore just because somebody decided to throw PVP into friggin' fake space politics of all places. my character couldnt join the BA or get his spot back. i think im paying my PVP dues enough as it is with one of my more combat-oriented characters, id prefer to keep my senator out of that BS.
I'm not sure what you mean by pvp, since @Bauren said something more along the lines of "pvp debate". What he is saying is "player vs player" debate, so in other words, just a normal debate. Senators are going to debate already, what it sounded like he wanted was the possibility for someone to have their character challenge the senatorial position of another character for a specific planet through rp-debate-election if they want to represent that planet. You know, more like verbal debate, game of thrones politics, house of cards politics, and all of that stuff.
yeah i read his post and knew what he meant. i dont want PVP like that. debating is all fine and good because its part of the job, but i dont want my characters senatorial position just challenged by somebody because then id for sure lose and i dont think thats exactly fair to lose my characters entire job/position/plotline basically since hes not combat-oriented and couldnt do anything if he suddenly wasnt a senator anymore.
id be totally fine with debating against other senators, but not against somebody who wants my job, you feel? id much rather deal with other risks in this line of work like debates against other senators and maybe assassination attempts.
all i wanted was to play a senator and explore more emotional plotlines, debates about what to do with the Sith, and possibly assassination attempts if someone was up for it, not get into a bunch of petty arguments solely so my character gets thrown out on his ass. i dont like PVP, i dont want to do PVP where itll cost my character the entire basis of his plot and character, and i dont want that to be something forced on me just because i wanted to roleplay in the star wars universe with other people.
do i expect to progress and gain power if i dont take a bunch of risks and PVP in risky situations? nope, because since PVP is a requirement to advance at any pace in power and ranks, im aware i cant advance without PVPing. im totally fine with that. i just want to stay as senator of empress teta, participate in politics, develop my character with other peoples characters, and be left the hell alone for the most part (save for assassination and upheavals of everything and the like, thatd be fun), not thrown out of my position. i am terrible at PVP and no amount of practice from here is going to make me better since i have practiced and still suck at it.
i was taking it pretty seriously since admins take suggestions from members of the site all the time and ive seen the admins actively listening to peoples suggestions in other threads. im hugely afraid of my characters having a bunch of stuff taken from them or being killed since i put so much into them, so just the idea of being forced to compete just to keep my non-advancing position really really freaked me out.
i apologize if i came off really harsh, my emotions got out of hand on this topic.
Yes.@Green Ranger Is it going to be possible for ambassadors to, through some potential method whatever that might be, get their planets into the Republic or BA?
Mauve Codi - Senator of Empress Teta
hes still a WIP but im definitely working on him actively (i had to read up on the planets history first). @TAC thanks for setting up this thread to begin with, im really looking forward to the role of the senate in this new timeline.

EDIT: With Empress Teta (the planet I've made a Senator for in 4th and 5th Timeline) taken, I think I'll sign up for Senator of Kalevala.
WELL SIGN ME RIGHT THE HELL UP. Feeorin Senator would be insane, since Odryn is just...man, that place is a wreck. It'd be fun to try and incorporate that planet into the Senate.
@TAC I have fully thought it out, and I would love to stand for the people on Odryn. Kreet would be my Senator. Due to Jedi Master Feln wrecking his home planet despite being Feeorin also, Kreet has a distrust of Jedi. If a Jedi would wreck his home world, why would any other Jedi be different? He believes their fight to be "means to an end", not caring what or who they destroy in order to accomplish their goal.
I'd also be willing to put Kreet in any committee that might need it, he can be written pretty flexibly in terms of WHAT he'll be doing in the Senate.
I guess that's one way to solve revolving door politics...Aw yeah. You can try to impeach them.
I'll probably just personally kill them first, though. :)
