I've been meaning to bring this up since I got back and never had the time. I was wondering if you folks thought it'd be a good idea to set up some low ranking operations for our newer members, or even just the ones who never ascended in rank after they signed up to our respective factions.

These operations would be taking place parallel to the main thread's and would hopefully involve everyone who unfortunately couldn't be a part of those threads.

I could've just made a hutt thread where all the hutts ran around blasting things but I thought it'd be a much better idea if all the factions low-ranking members were involved, so everyones having fun.

Anyone else interested?

I think this is a great idea.

Since it would involve all of the factions RPing together—and obviously some fighting against each other—we would need to make sure it has a purpose. Yeah it’s great to give them any multi-faction RP to do, but if it can actually have an impact on the story then, IMO, it’ll go a LOOOOONG way to help with this whole “non-vets can’t do anything worthwhile” bullshit.

Let's also make two basic requirements for these:

  1. You can't be in these operations if you're in the Battle of Nar Shaddaa (and I mean OOC; whether or not it's a different character is irrelevant, if you yourself are RPing in the Battle of Nar Shaddaa then you wouldn't get to RP in these operations). That way, it makes the newer and lower ranking people feel like this is just for them.
  2. You don't need to sign up. Anyone who is new or of a lower rank can participate IMO. Though we would need some sort of guideline for what allows you to enter into these threads.

Yeah that was part of the reason I came up with the idea, to help you guys out with the whole non-verterans can't have an impact shittiness.

I was thinking it could involve something like an attack on a large weapon being smuggled, or a ship with massive amounts of munitions, or a planet that's holding something of particular interest.

But of course I'm open to other ideas.

Well, we could combine all of that.

Perhaps the Hutt and Taung forces have a large and secret weapon's facility on a planet in the Mid Rim to aid the Hutts' further conquest into the Mid Rim. The Republic could have gotten wind of that, and figuring that the Hutts would be distracted by the Nar Shaddaa operation a Republic and Jedi force could attack this weapon's facility.

I envision this as strictly being a ground operation, as I wouldn't imagine there being Hutt ships in orbit since the facility is meant to be secret. I don't know how the Bogan would fit into this though, if they even need to fit into it (IMO they wouldn't be necessary, aren't there a lot of Bogan forces at Nar Shaddaa anyway?).

This would have an impact on the RP if the Hutts reacted IC to it as a setback if the Republic and Jedi are victorious in the operation. The Republic could also react IC by taking the weapons for themselves.

Granted, I don't see how the Hutts could actually win in this operation, but even if they don't win then it's not a very big deal since this wasn't some part of a big plan or anything. You would just have the Hutts reacting to it IC as a set back, one that they could overcome. It could also give a major morale boost (OOC that is) to Republic characters, since they haven't had much of a faction for, like, ever. Plus a Republic victory would also show lower ranking Republic characters that they can have an impact on things, something they've really NEVER seen in ANY timeline.

Of course I'm not saying we should plan it as a Republic victory but, as conceived here, all the Republic needs to do is block planetary communication and there's no way the Hutts can win.

EDIT: This is also just one idea. You'd probably want some other stuff for your Hutt guys to do that doesn't involve a near-guaranteed loss, but I do like the idea of what I just proposed.

Perhaps the Republic underestimates the defenses of the installation (ie. facility uses an EMP blast)?

See it sounds way too similar to what's happening on Nar Shadda, the Hutt's have something of interest and the Republic and Jedi come to **** shit up, the Hutt and Bogan are already being attacked in the Treaty thread, I was thinking something more along the lines of:

The Republic are transporting Jedi potentials, perhaps even padawans away from the Mid-Rim systems due to the fact the Hutt's are expanding into that area, the Republic planet would of course be top secret due to the sensitive nature of new Jedi being trained in that area. Sheo could dispsatch only one or two Bogan to attempt to disrupt the operation through Sabotage, the Jedi and Republic would be there to protect it and the Hutt's would percieve all of it as a threat and launch a strategic strike aswell.

It would be a small scale battle, the main objective being to stop the Republic and the Jedi from escaping the planet and the Republic and Jedi would be attempting to save their younglings and other potential resources such as ships and weapons stored on the planet.

The Republic on the offensive in the main thread and the Hutt's on the offensive in the parrallel thread.

How's that sound?

That sounds like a good idea.

I do think, though, that the weapon's facility would be a good multi-faction operation (not battle, but again a small joint-mission thing) for the future since it can (seemingly if RPd correctly) have an impact on the Story.

And younglings being killed by an evil empire wouldn't have an impact?

Not to the same extent that disrupting the plans of the Hutt Empire would be.

The youngling one is like a psychological impact, an "OMG I can't believe they did that" sort of thing. The idea behind the weapon facility one is to have a bigger impact than just purely psychological, because - if the Republic won that weapons one - it would make RPers think "wow, I just disrupted the plans of the Hutt Empire, and I'm just a low level rank/new member!"

If the Republic and Jedi save the planet, they return with hundreds of new Jedi, weapons and ships.

If the Hutt's succeed they destroy ships, weapons and slaughter hundreds of jedi potentials.

The whole point of the Main thread itself is to stop the Bogan from recieving soldiers and ships aswell.

I'm not saying it's not going to have an impact. However, those hundreds of new Jedi, weapons, and ships aren't really tangible. They're all NPC forces, and odds are there would be no follow through with any of that by the Jedi after the mission because there's not much they can do with a bunch of ICs. The loss, as I said in the last post, is a big psychological thing, but again it's all a bunch of NPCs...hence why it's psychological. It's not like the Jedi can just go and strike out at the Bogan after that, since the Bogan are still hidden.

The weapon's factory one can have a better follow through on your (specifically you, Kaeb) end, where the Hutts (IC) specifically react to it as something that disrupts their plans. It's more of a tangible impact where people can specifically see that it disrupts further plans of conquest, since it holds back the conquest for the Hutts. It's newer members and lower ranking characters having that tangible impact, as opposed to them having more of an NPC-related impact in the Jedi younglings one.

But like I said, yours is a GOOD IDEA and I think we should do it. I mentioned we could do the weapon factory one LATER. I don't see why we're debating this.

We're not debating, we're discussing =]

I do like the weapons factory idea and it would work well but I think both ideas have a great deal of merit.

That's another thing, in my opinion I think this timeline would work alot better if the Bogan finally ****ing revealed themselves. Sorry Sheo <3

For that to work, they would need to begin spreading out to more locations. All it would take to destroy the Bogan at Ando Prime would be a gigantic Republic fleet against the ships the Hutts are giving the Bogan, the destruction of those Bogan ships, and then PEWPEWPEW into the mountain base on the surface.

Well if they spread out more I think it'd be an excellent idea. And just to let you guys know, I already have an idea for another main thread once our one is finished, I've been meaning to run it by you via pm.

Agreed.

They could go into the Outer Rim into Hutt worlds. They'd need to be fortified, since they don't have an imperial fleet for themselves like the Sith would've had defending Korriban during a time of war.

Run it by me via PM?

If so, feel free to shoot it over any time.

Most of the jedi population is on Ossus atm. An attack by the Hutts and Bogan might have an effect save the defenses put in place recently.

These younglings I brought up would be secret, most likely put away from Ossus to protect them while they were trained. I'm not even sure if Ossus is in the Mid-Rim.

Why would Jedi be trained in secret, they should be at a Jedi temple. A shuttle may be traveling from a planet with a group of potential new recruits. This makes sense, but they would just be kids with no real training, fresh from the outside world.

I was thinking more along the lines of potential Jedi seer's or something, younglings with an extremely strong connection to the force who are being trained in secret due to the recent attack on the temple.
