Corron Drykan jogged up the temple steps, grinning to himself as he looked down at his datapad. He had gotten the communication numbers of four pretty girls on his way here. This whole Jedi thing might not be that bad after all. He was wearing his spacer pants, white shirt, black vest and boots. He wore the blaster pistols his father had given them in thigh holster hanging of a slanted utility belt. He thought it made him look quite dashing actually. He reajusted the pack slung over one shoulder that had his robes in it and looked around.

"Wait a sec, what was I supposed to do once I got here?"

The stair which acended to the great jedi temple on Coruscant was a magnificent sight. Stories high, yet such a vast staircase served yet another purpose other than travel. Patience, for it took time to acend and decend the staircase on a daily basis. One would eventually see the daily routine as ethier annoying or enjoyable. On such a day, Makal couldn't be any happier to make his way up the steps, today the order had finally granted him a padawan. Like his master before him, now he had the chance to train someone as well.

He had nearly made his way to the very top when something had spot his eye. A young boy, somewhat lost it would seem. Two blaster slung neatly to ethier side of his sash, yet he looked completely lost. Makal moved silently forwards through the crowds, until his stroll had came to abrubt halt.

"You look a bit lost, may I help you. I am Jedi Knight Makal Jorbr, and you are?"

The knight made sure to leave some distance between them, he did not want to spook the young boy.

Corron scratched his head and looked up at the man talking to him.

"Uh? Oh yeah I'm Corron Drykan. I'm told I'm meant to be a Jedi....I guess. So I was supposed to come to the temple. Man, you guys got some long stairs."

Corron looked at the Jedi in front of him, probably mid thirties so, about twice Corron's age. Was this what all Jedi were gonna be like? Always dressing in those somber brown robes?

Makal couldn't help but laugh at the boys comment. Arching his brow slightly a hand moving to rub his cleanly shaven face. Instantly he recognized the name, his new padawan.

"Yes they are, just imagine if you had to climb them every day up and down for an entire year."

He paused momentarily, eyes looking young Corron Drykan up and down. The knight saw alot of himself in this boy, yet only by physical appearence he had yet to learn of his thoughts or feelings.

"Today you begin your training padawan, tell me what you know of the force."

Makal motioned for the boy to follow him, clasping ethier hand behind his back. Strolling forwards into the entrance of the temple-- down a chosen long stone cooridor.

Corron groaned at the thought of climbing all those steps everyday but reslung his pack and followed the man into the temple.
"So I guess you're gonna be my master. Well I have to say you're starting with a blank slate here man. I don't know anything about this "force". Heck my parents convinced me to come here cause some guy who said he was a Jedi said he felt the Force was "Strong in me" or something like that."

Corron looked over at him, "I mean, the Force is what you guys use to make stuff levitate and move right?"

"Yes thats part of it. The Force is a river from which many can drink, and the training of the Jedi is not the only cup which can catch it. You must understand, that the force does not emanate from us but through us, it exsists in all living things good or bad. Though, one could study the force their entire lifes and never find out everything about it. Everyone can imagine the force in a different way. The truth is, it is there, and if you concentrate deep enough you will feel it too Young Corron."

He cleared his throat, quietly they left the temple. After passing through so many different coordors and passage ways. The two came upon an old Jedi monastery, that had fallen into disuse and ruin. There were still several working rooms amongst the complex, though he led his padawan inside eagerly. Then out into an old court yard where there stood two lone trees, ones whose bright pink petals had but all fallen and covered the ground. Another smaller one, that had yet just begun to bloom its own, a young sappling.

Then there he knelt with the petals, the coruscanti sun loomed in the horizon. This place held a stong connection to the force, used by the jedi of old.

"This is where your training will begin Padawan, as it did for so many others. I remember when I began my training, not much younger than you are now. Here at this very same spot. Now tell me why you want to be a jedi? What do you know of the Jedi?"

Then he watched him patiently. Eager upon a response, a soft smile carressing the contours of his face.

Corran shrugged his shoulders, "Well....at first I didn't want to be a Jedi. I wanted to eventually be a cop like my father was. But after awhile....well my father convinced me that as a cop on Correllia I would be able to clean up a couple streets, sure. But as a Jedi....as a Jedi I could help the entire galaxy. That's what it is to me. Roaming the galaxy and helping those in need when they need you. Not...sitting in some dusty old temple studying all day. I didn't go through fifteen years of school to live the rest of my life studying....."
Corron gave a lopsided grin after that last statement.

"As for what I know of the Jedi, well almost nothing really. Just the common stuff from the schoolyard and such. But I don't know what's real among that. For example...I don't really think you guys could destroy an entire star system with a single thought....right?"

"The Force is what gives a Jedi his power. It's an energy field created by all living things. It surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds the galaxy together. It is not impossible, through the force anything is possible, though would we wish the destruction of a star system in such a manner... No... The Jedi serve and protect not destroy."

Makal reached into the petals, feeling around momentarily unti he had found exactly what he was looking for, there in the palm of his hand he produced one smooth white pebble. Palm up, it began to levitate, higher and higher, before resting itself back upon his skin.

"Here I want you to do the exact same. Its not an immpossible feat.."

He handed the small white stone over.

"Now kneel, concentrate, feel the force flow through you. Imagine it like a river being fed by a small stream. Redirect that stream, let it flow through you and down to the stone. Think what is, not what is not. The stone floats, you must believe that..."

He then watched with eager anticipation.

Corron cocked an eyebrow, "alright, if you say so...."
He knelt down on the ground and held the pebble in his hand. He stared at....willing it to levitate...

"Wow I feel like an idiot." He grumbled to himself.
Then he remembered his mother's face lighting up with joy when she heard that he could be a Jedi, and the proud satisfaction his father exuded. He had to try his hardest....for them.

He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. He envisioned the small river were he used to take his dates...he gave a small grin at that memory. He imagined it as this "force" the Jedi used and envisioned it picking the pebble up off of his hand. He opened his eyes to see the small rock hovering about three inches off of his palm. He gasped in shock and it fell down, landing amid the soft petals and scattering them in the wind.

"Ah, not as stupid as you thought huh?"

Makal mused at his comment then at the boy, though he was not mocking him in way shape or form. He was surprised he got it done on the first try as well. Most padawans taking days at least, to master the technique.

"Corron, with patience and constant training you will master the art. You learn very quickly, now, tell me what you know of the Jedi Code?"

Makal awaited his padawans response.

Corron looked up at him wide eyed
"Fierfek....was I supposed to study that? I heard of it but um.....I didn't really care to read it or anything. I mean....I was busy thinking about getting a lightsaber....."

Corron face turned red and brushed his hand up against his nose..."So ummm...yeah the code of the Jedi is.....help people and don't do bad? I guess? Like...in general?"

Makal wanted to face palm himself, though he did not give on any indication of that. The boy was young, it would take some time.

"You will create you own lightsaber when I see fit. Repeat after me.."

His speech was stern, his face was serious.

"Emotion, yet peace
Ignorance, yet knowledge
Passion, yet serenity
Chaos, yet harmony
Death, yet the force."

He paused momentarily letting the youth take everything in.

"Do you have any questions concerning our code? Now is your chance to understand things you do not know."

The knight eyeing him curiously.

Corran listened closley to what the man said, then repeated
"
Emotion, yet peace
Ignorance, yet knowledge
Passion, yet serenity
Chaos, yet harmony
Death, yet the force"

He paused at the end, "Wait. Ignorance? Why is ignorance a good thing? And how can you be ignorant and have knowledge at the same time? I mean...I guess I get the emotion and peace part. The passion and serenity to an extent. The Chaos thing confuses me and as for Death, well....I guess your saying that when you die you become one with the Force or something?"

"Everyone is ignorant in some way or another. It is the duty of the Jedi Order to continue to educate ourselves and each other. This process is never-ending, as no one has attained all the knowledge of the universe except those who are One with the Force. Remain vigilant and know that you are not all-knowing, there is still much to learn."

Eyed his padawan momentarily before continueing.

"It is undeniable that sometimes things just go awry, or at least appear to. And while this is true, we Jedi understand that all events are interconnected and are simply part of life. Tragedies and failings are inevitable, it is how we deal with them that matters, and as a Jedi, you should take such things in stride. Without this knowledge, the rest of the tenets are meaningless. Death is also part of code, for you do not die but become part of something greater that of the force."

Makal took a deep breath, exahling in his nose them out his mouth. Cloing his eyes, he remained so for a few moments, with the usual grin.

"Now this is a strict code the jedi go by. You must stick to this code, for if you do not you may turn to darkside. Many jedi, have fallen to such a path, and many have been consumed in their hatred by doing so....."

He smiled.

"Do you understand?"

Corron looked at him with his head cocked to one side and an eyebrow raised, "Dark side? What the fierfek does that mean? And I think I should be able to follow your code."

He actually wasn't all that happy, only here for maybe an hour and already rules were being thrown at him like crazy. Man, this was turning into school all over again.

"Its a serious manner, this will be your life. When you become a Jedi its a job you will never quit. An undertaking that will take time, you must constantly learn. I sense you may find this all boring, as did I when I was a padawan. There are many areas, to which you will study. First you study the code. Then you study the Force. Then finally I will teach you ancient art of weilding a lightsaber in combat."

With that Makal came to a stand his motion at almost a blur, fueled by the power of the force he ignited his lightsaber. A bright green heat searing into the afternoon air, a deep hum escaping into their ears.

"This is the ancient weapon of the Jedi, one that has served us well for thousands of years. We are the hand that guides the galaxy and soon you will be a hand just as am I."

It was awe inspiring, well at least thats what Makal had hoped for, he had to keep the kid interested somehow...

Corron gazed at the green blade and ran his eyes up and down the length of it. In his mind he envisioned the blade a softly glowing regal shade of purple. It was incredible.

Corron gave a small bow from the waist, "Of course, I shall do as you say of course."

"Where is your lightsaber padawan?"

Makal grinned spinning the saber in hand while deactivating its blade and fitting it agilely upon the sash of his waist. Its hilt hidden from veiw, the knight reached to his other side, his hands reapearing with another saber in hand.

"This is training saber, like my own, though the blade is not lethal. It delievers a very painful shock instead. Here this is yours, until you craft a saber of your own."

Slowly he bent down, grasping another stone from the ground. Though this time, he choose a much larger one.

"I want you to focus again, this time, I want you to pull the stone from my grasp. Do the same thing you did with the other rock, but this time, you will force it from my grip. It will not move so easily... Now concentrate young padawan.."

Clenching his fist around the smooth cold surface of the stone he now waited.

Corron easily caught the metal tube and clipped it onto his belt. He would admire it later. Right now he needed to learn more about the Force if he was going to get ahead in this training. He closed his eyes and focused on the rock. He envisioned the stream flowing through him out to the rock and wrapping around it. He gave it a gentle tug....and nothing happened.

"Fierfek he is holding it tight." Corron thought. He gritted his teeth and imagined the stream being more of a rushing river that wrapped around the rock and gave it a might mental tug.....

Makal could feel the rock slowly giving way, so he tightened his hold.

"Concentrate can't you feel it. Can't you feel the rock within your grasp?! Concentrate.."

He took a deep breath.

"Do not worry how tight my hold is, for such a thing cannot exsist inside the force. It is not tight, it is not loose, it just is..."
