Samantha sat in her small room in the jedi order. It contained a bed which covered over half the room and then a dresser in the corner of the room.
Samantha opened her dresser and pulled out a white robe and it covered most of Samantha's body. Underneath she wore a black skintight outfit. She wore this and headed off to the training room were she would soon meet her new master.

"perhaps a force bond would happen between the us, masters often had a bond with their apprentices." She thought. "drawing us closer and helping me in my training. Or perhaps a force bond with Kias my old friend." She thought hopefully a force bond would happen that would be interesting.

She was eager to begin her training in the jedi ways. How interesting are they Samantha thought. Even though she had only seen a small amount of the holovids on jedi teachings. She headed to a room within the order often used for meditation but here would be were her training would begin.

Chester Ducere lingered about the halls of the Jedi Order with an sense of anxiety. The galaxy was changing - alliances were broken, wars were declared, soldiers and civilians alike perished by the thousands. And yet, the Jedi Order remained constant. An immovable cornerstone amidst a galaxy of chaos. It was quite a comforting thought. And yet, for whatever reason, Chester was nervous. Eager, even. Now is not the time to dwell on such things; I have a new student... Chester thought.

Clipping his rather unorthodox lightsaber onto the belt of his traditional Jedi robes, Chester headed from the temple courtyards toward the inner chambers of the enclave. He had been informed that his new pupil had arrived a while ago and was Force-sensitive; Chester assumed she would not be too difficult to train. Samantha, he believed her name was. Although he had done some research and background checking, he hadn't found much. This would be a learning experience for the both of them, it seemed. Wiping the sweat from his pale brow and dark blond hair, Chester allowed the Force to guide him toward his new pupil; she was apparently waiting in one of the meditative rooms.

The Jedi Knight entered the room in a slow, drawn-out pace. Chester noticed his new Padawan immediately; she appeared to be Arkanian; however, she was obviously not pureblooded, because she resembled another 'offshoot' Arkanian he had once trained. Chester clapped his hands together twice, softly, to mentally prepare himself. Might as well begin.

"You must be Samantha Malifus," Chester said plainly - he assumed he had her attention. "I am Chester Ducere, the Jedi Knight who will be responsible for your training."

Samantha was startled with Chester her new master entering. She wasn't expecting a human to be the one to train her. "Yes, hello Master Ducere"
She said then took a seat in the meditation chamber. Her new master appeared to be a human atleast.

"So how will we begin my training?" She asked. She was eager to begin her training to become a jedi knight. She tried to calm herself but she couldn't help the fact that she was excited that she now had a master.

"We shall begin soon enough; don't worry," Chester assured her.

Patience was a thing all young Jedi struggled with. It would be better to press the virtue now so they learned it before they got into any major trouble.

Chester approached his pupil, standing across from her, about a meter from where she was sitting. He stood motionless, glancing at his new student. She seemed eager, strong, and capable. These were good traits to have.

"Well, before we actually begin any sort of training, would you like to tell me about yourself? Your life before you came to the Jedi Temple?"

Samantha took a deep breathe. Getting ready to tell her story of before she arrived to the temple. She fidgeted in her seat to get more comfortable. Now she was ready to tell her tale to her master. Hopefully her story would answer any questions he might have about her.

"I was born on Kashyyk home of the wookies" She took another breath. "Granddaughter of Jedi master Sirius Malifus and daughter of the jedi knights Mirtha and Jeffrey Malifus" she paused to breathe once more. "I had a brother named Jeffrey who is dead now" she took another breath the most interesting part what next. "My brother was angered that my mother would be his apprentice so he tried to kill me so he could be my father's apprentice."
"He failed at killing me and only killed my father."

She closed her eyes imagining the sight of seeing his lifeless body. "I wanted to please my brother so he offered me 1,000 credits if I left the planet." "I didn't know what he was planning so me and his friend Kias headed for Ossus here to the jedi temple where he planned to meet me later on." "Instead he accidently killed himself and my mother and himself." She took another breath.

"So me and Kias crashed on ossus and the jedi healers healed our injuries and then they told us we could use the force so we begun our searches for masters." She opened her eyes to see her master. "I don't know how Kias' search for a master is going but now here we are." She said finished with telling her history. "Any questions, master?"

Chester had listened patiently during Samantha's story. Intriguing. It was quite a tale, the Jedi Knight almost described it as far-fetched, but it was obviously true. Folding his arms across his chest, he slowly opened his eyes and finished absorbing the information he had been presented with.

"... So we are here. You've certainly had your share of family troubles, Samantha," Chester mused. "You've presented me with quite a tragic tale. Nevertheless, we must not dwell on the past for too long, lest it consume us. Use the lessons of the past to pave your future. Do you understand this?"

"Yes I understand this master." She was calming herself this was the first time she ever said her life's history. She wasn't sure how Kias' search for a master was going but she was going to find out how his search had been going when she finished her training. She was still eager to train. But simply she was eager to do a lot of different things.

"Good. If you understand this, then we can begin," Chester explained. Lifting a datapad out of his pocket, he waited for the small device to flicker to life before he continued. A small schedule and a list of his daily tasks were displayed before him; it was a very mutable list, there was no need for him to rush through the training, even if that's what his pupil wanted.

"Tell me what you know of the Jedi, and what you believe their purpose is and your opinion on them," the Jedi Knight instructed from his Padawan.

"We are Jedi and our job is to protect and enforce peace upon the galaxy" She begun. "I guess mostly we are currently trying to end the conflict with the Alsakan goverment." She took a breathe. "Our job is to stop dark sided users of the force from harming anyone and kidnapping anyone". She furthered.

"That is their purpose our purpose" She took another deep breathe. "As for my opinion I would like to simply keep that to myself." Now she was calm it took a lot of courage to say that.

Chester was a bit surprised about his Padawan's sudden boldness. He had never had a student deny him so plainly before. His face contorted - if just a little - to show his disapproval, but he decided it was not that big of a deal and moved on.

"Very well," Chester said slowly. "you may keep your opinion on the Jedi, though I would like to hear what you think of the Ospion. Considering that we may very well go to war with them at any moment."

It was interesting to see how her master had been accepting the fact that Samantha chose not to give her opinion on the Jedi. But Ospion was another thing. "Ospion is similar to the Jedi order being they are just rogue jedi." She began. "I believe they choose to be more involved in the fight against the Alsakan which I think will be their downfall." She said to her master.

"I see. To be fair, they seem to have overstepped their bounds as rogue Jedi - they have killed some of our own - and devolved into murderous Force-sensitives. But, you should encounter them firsthand before formulating a true opinion on them," Chester explained.

"Now then, please recite and explain - in your own words - our mantra. Our Jedi code."

She hummed a old song from her childhood. Samantha often did this before some complex thinking. "Emotion means emotions like anger and powerful sadness and depression existing but yet peace remaining" She said. "Ignorance means people not noticing things and other things yet having knowledge of things." "Passion being a desire for something usually attention or something along those lines yet serenity balancing that desire."

"Chaos and death caused by darksided users of the force or as you said the Ospion, yet the harmony of the jedi order trying to balancing these acts."
"Death the end of life in living organisms yet the force still managing to exist." There she was done explaining her idea of the jedi code to her master.

Chester listened intently while his Padawan gave her explanation. It was not a bad explanation by any means, but Chester felt it lacked... something. Maybe it could be more clear.

"You explained the sections pertaining to passion, chaos, and death well. However, I am also confused. How does peace exist while emotions remain? We cannot rid ourselves of emotions, and yet we are said to have peace. How can one be ignorant and yet have knowledge as well? To be ignorant is to be lacking knowledge. Is the code self-contradictory?"

Chester hoped that his Padawan would clarify her reasoning for him.

"Well I never really looked at the code much so I much less have had the chance to think upon it." She said seeing as just a few days ago she had arrived to the jedi temple. But she knew that her master would not hold this against her at all. Or atleast she hoped he wouldn't. "But now what is the next part of my training?"

Chester stood up and began to pace around the room. "A Jedi is prepared at all times. You may not know the code now, but do not expect it to go away. The mantra is not just words. It is our law, our tenants, our creed," he explained sternly. He wasn't upset, but he hoped that she would take the time to learn the code before her apprenticeship was complete.

"Nevertheless, we're done in here, for now. Follow me to the courtyard," Chester urged.

Without waiting for his Padawan, the Jedi Knight spun around and opened the door from the meditative chambers to the vast halls of their monastery. He kept a rather slow pace to ensure that his Padawan wouldn't be left behind as he headed down the halls of the Jedi Enclave.

"Yes I will study it more often my master" She said. Then she begun to follow her master Ducere out of the meditation room to the halls of the order. Following him simply thinking about how Kias' search for a master was probably a success seeing as they pasted many masters speaking to their apprentices.

Chester felt that Samantha's thoughts were wandering. What about, he hadn't a clue, he was not that powerful. However, he recalled that she had mentioned another pupil... Kias, his name was. He continued his walk, although he picked up the pace ever-so-slightly; he didn't want to be wandering these halls all day, and neither did she, Chester assumed.

"Samantha, do you remember that song you were humming earlier?" Chester asked. "Who taught it to you?"

"My mother used to sing it to me" Samantha said. "I guess it just stuck in my head". She continued down the hallway picking up past to be at her master's side. Her thoughts still wondered but what is so important to think about when one is just walking down a hallway following someone.

"It is quite a lovely song," Chester said. "I would like to hear it in its entirety some time."

Once he had finished, Chester made his way from the halls into the gardens of the Jedi Temple. Motioning for his Padawan to have a seat on one of the stone slabs that marked off a path in the vast gardens, Chester took a seat on a nearby bench.

"Your first lesson will be proper meditation. I'm unsure how - or if - you've tapped into the power of the Force before, but one of the best ways is through meditation. Clear your thoughts, allow yourself to become absorbed by the Force, and feel its presence around you. Focus on it, become one with it. It is challenging at first, but it will become natural to you soon enough. Once you can successfully tap into its power, your first lesson will be complete."

Chester cupped his hands together and watched his Padawan intently. Once she started her meditation, he too would enter a brief meditative trance.
