The bothan looked up at the human setting infront of him. "My teams full. But I'll keep an ear up." he said bouncing his ball. The man infront of him wasn't paying attention to it. This shows he's not weakminded which is good thought the bothan. The man sighed and left. He gave up to easy...why would I be holding interviews if my teams full. Well thats another off the list. The streets of coruscant created many types of people. Shadow runners were just one of the crowd.
________________________________________________________________

A figure, one of an animated cartoonish looking lizard was speaking on a holo-recording;

"We have no official status with any of the corperations and we are just as likely to make a run against a company we had worked for yesterday. We are an entirely different breed of mercenary. We don't want martial prowess. We don't want large numbers or huge ships. These things stick out like a wookiee at a...well wookiees stick out anywhere that isn't kaashyyk honestly, and above all shadow runners do not want to stick out."

"We work in teams. sometimes upwards of five or six. Usually with computer specialists, wheelmenm a few infiltrators and a face. The face was the one who did all the meetings the "leader" if you will. Usually he also doubled as a roll. In my case...I'm an infiltrator. What that means for all you kiddies watching this holo-recording is that I'm good at a bit of everything. Computers, combat and explosives. But honestly I can only be as good with computers as what the tech specialist provides me with info wise...anyway I digress. My point being is that every member of the team has to be extremely good at what he or she does. Otherwise we all die because some lazy fool can't do his job.

"These teams operate in sleeper cells when one falls the other picks up the slack and begins operation. In this way no one can truely know how many of us there are at any given time. Not even other members. This is good should we be captured because no ammount of truth serum can extract that which we do not know. If your caught...you no longer exist. To us or the company who hired us. We should no longer exist to you either. Betrayal comes at a high cost."

"I'll be upfront with you. My entire crew died. None of it was anyones fault on my team. The informant had neglected to tell us that there would be combat droids which did fryyk all to help us going in there with heat sensors. Right now I'm looking for a few of you who will be good enough for my team. You will get paid. No fame, no glory. No one will ever have heard of you. But your deeds will be talked about on the holo-net. If you brag that it was you to anyone I'll personally see that you get left on a tiny asteroid with a very small oxygen supply. If someone want's to know of our exploits they can find out just the way everyone does who wants to. Pay cash to a few of our select "speakers". We get a percent of the funds from that, they get info and so do we because our speakers will then run diagnostics on whoever it was to find out just who he is.

"So basically if your watching this thinking about hiring me or us once I get a crew. Realize that you can not screw us. Before you contact our group, we will know everything about you that we can find from the size of the last paycheck you got to the twi'lek you've been seducing on the side that your wife doesn't know about."

"We risk everything. We survive. We are shadow runners."

The Reptile faded and it was replaced breifly with words running across saying:
Positions Needed: Tech specialist, infiltrators, pilots, and any others who feel they are specilized in a certain roll to get the job done, please apply. But only a few of you will make it.

A shadow runner usually works in small teams or cells. These teams each have a rather sophisticated network of people to gather information jobs et cet. They're primarily hired by corporations as spies, saboteurs, hackers, anything that can give the company an edge over their competitors. As such most shadow runners work in teams. These teams each have a specialist in certain fields. For instance my character Kai is what is considered a specialist at espionage. He goes in making as little sounds as possible takes what data is needed and escapes usually damaging something that would set back the company in the process. Other characters could be experts at simply hacking in and monitoring whatever to extract information. Some could just be hired muscle to cause distractions while another run in and get what they need. but the point being they work as a team to get the job done.

The structure really is anarchic in that there is no single leader of all shadow runners. There are team leaders called "faces" but even they represent what the team as a whole wants in things such as negotiation with their business man or in worse cases negotiations with captors...

This information is only applied to one select team. As more teams become active and full more information will be added.
Ships: One modified Simiyiar-class light freighter (Kai's ship)
Base of Operations: Coruscant mid-sector
Funding: Private Jobs
Members: (currently) 1.

Read Independant Faction Guidelines. If you are going to start up this group you need 3 people (yourself and two others) and you might as well start a thread to find people interested in it before making a thread like this.

Grim can always lock the thread if it is not going to work out.

On another hand, L might wish to be affiliated with this faction, alongside Sailo.

I'm pretty sure the galaxy doesn't know about banthas yet.

And while the direction you've taken with the faction description is interesting, it doesn't exactly explain much. Hell, I had to guess at what the faction actually is. And the whole 'we know all about you' stuff? Unlikely, considering you seem to be a very smalltime faction.

I'm not exactly sure how you expect to run your operations from a light freighter. I'm thinking Millenium Falcon, but maybe i'm way off.

Basically a shadow runner has a miryad of contacts just like a smuggler not to mention usually at least one person is a computer genious on the team. Thus all they would need is for the speakers to get a picture of fingerprint or something along those lines to find out information. Yes the way it's described is over exajurated but it's more or less on target in that they know enough for you to not want to screw them over.

The idea actually came from a pen and paper RPG called "shadow Run" here let me see if I can accurately describe it better...

A shadow runner usually works in small teams or cells. These teams each have a rather sophisticated network of people to gather information jobs et cet. As far as having only a small ship, well the team is only going to be comprised of groups of less than ten people. Albeit the ship I picked is a bit bigger than the falcon. And our base of operations will be in the back of a cantina in the mid-city section of coruscant.

Also Lavi your character would be perfect for the group as a contact. :D

No not quite carbon it is certainly inspired by it. I've taken the idea and adapted it to starwars. the initial bit I have now is a rough draft I'm planning to work on it more but I wanted to get up that first and see how people responded to the idea. No point in having a faction if no one likes it ^_^

((And sorry for not sending it in I just read the guide fiotch was talking about I'll make sure to send em in first when I have a faction from this point on))

For drafts and general discussion of factions, I refer you here. In future, please use this, as the faction boards are for completed and approved factions.

How many factions do you plan on making? o_O

Think about it; this is a recruitment 'tape' and when your into espionage and that ilk you do want to know all about the person you are recruiting...

I still don't think it will work out completely as I see alot of things being able to god mod.

EX-

We know all about your past and every single weakness and strength you have.-If this is the first time meeting I doubt the group could pick out the weakness outright. Let's not forget they'd have to hack into the Republic Mainframe to get anything on Republic soldiers and the same goes for Alsakens. It really doesn't work out that well.

No they don't know everything but they would know something to exploit to insure loyalty. I hardly see that as godmodding, just shrewd business work.

I think you just don't want competition in the merc factions :p

A couple...if that's okay :CHappy:

In all honesty this shouldn't be in Mercenary faction anyways because these aren't really "soldiers". They would be more of an "Other" faction becuase they look as if they only are to be a spy/info group. This isn't a true merc faction so I shouldn't have a problem.

Agreeing with Fioch, this is more of an intelligence network than a mercenary-for-hire group.

EDIT: As for Spec Ops, you can call them espionage experts... Or spies.

Spec Ops soldiers that are mainly there to GATHER INFORMATION and the way you wrote it seemed to make it a info gathering place. It'd still be considered a spy faction to me no matter how many guns you have.

No it's spec ops in that they don't just operate as intellegence gathering. They also do demolitions of sectors of buildings, assassinations of certain targets, kidnappings, anything that would give a company an edge. However yes most of the work done is in the espionage sector. Last I checked however a mercenary was a gun for hire, a soldier of fortune. That fits this category imo.
