Taizen heard his Master and established a train of thought to send back to him. "Yes I hear you Master. I will listen and obey." Taizen fought for control of the force, and at first it felt like one of those old fashioned movies from ages and ages ago where the screen would flicker at first several times, gradually becoming clearer as time moved. It was hard for him to focus on the object but eventually it did become clearer and clearer.

At first he thought it was an apple but then it formed and became clearer and larger. Each item afterwards became easier to identify.

"An orange, a datapad, and a toy blaster? Is that right Master?" Asked Taizen uncertainly as he focused the images in his mind and sent them to his master.

"I'm afraid you are mistaken, Padawan. Try again. Remember - focus."

Chester thought about putting more items, but he decided against it. Once his learner could see the sole item he had placed in the ground, he would consider adding more.

"See through your mind's eye."

Taizen was slightly dissappointed by his inability to see the object and then he got right back on track. He used the force to see, and everything became clearer gradually. He could see his Master's expression, his robes, but for some reason the item was still not becoming clearer.

Taizen cleared his mind and he focused solely on what was in his Masters hand. After what seemed like ages (though really it was only 20 minutes) he realized what it was.

"It's a vial master. Correct?"

Chester shook his head. The Jedi Master spun the item around a few times before returning it to its initial position. Some Jedi took a good deal of time to adjust to their abilities, so the Councilor was in no rush. As long as his Padawan could eventually utilize the power, nothing else mattered.

"I'm afraid not. You're closer though - the shape is similar to that of a vial. Do try again."

Taizen was starting to get a tad discouraged at this point. But he didn't give up, instead he took a deep breath and he gave it another go. The force seemed to bubble around him. Everything was kind of hazy at first. After half an hour though of deep concentration he allowed the force to replace his vision. It was as if another hand was moving his hand.

Taizen did not have as many Midi Chlorians as some Jedi masters did but he did have determination through the force. Even if he got the answer wrong at this point he would not be disappointed because he knew that he had worked through the force to obtain it.

"Is it a water bottle Master?"

"No, it is not a water bottle. Closer still, as you are now seeing more complex shapes and figures, I believe. Even so, it's not quite correct. I will give you no hints, because I think you can persevere here."

Taizen wasn't frustrated but complacent. He knew that the only way that he could figure out what it was was by reaching out with the force and using that extrasensory power that came from the world. The question was how could he tap into it? He had tried a little bit of everything and nothing seemed to work. In fact Taizen became so discouraged he came out of meditation.

"I'm sorry Master. I can't focus, and I feel like a failure." He said as he shook his head wearily.

Chester sighed and accepted the fact that Taizen just couldn't complete his task at this time. Picking up his lightsaber, he placed it back on his belt and approached his Padawan. Facing him, he glared at the Zabrak, brazen and fiery.

"Taizen," Chester began, "don't let yourself taste discouragement. The Jedi may face defeat, but he never fails. Can you comprehend what I'm saying? As long as he has the Force, anything is possible for him.

Saying that, can you articulate to me why you cannot focus? What is separating you from experiencing the full power and perception brought about by the Force?"

"Yes Master. I won't ever let my emotions get me down. I don't precisely know what is exempting me from experiencing the full power of the force and being able to see what is not there. All I know is that I am having trouble doing so. If I had to guess it would be because my mind is distracted by other things right now."

"That is fine. I think it would be best to pause your training and give you time to clear your thoughts. Head to your chambers and meditate on this. We will meet again tomorrow to continue your training." Chester stood and bowed slightly, bidding his Padawan farewell.

The next morning: Taizen woke up, refreshed and ready to learn. He walked back to the same room that he and his master had been practicing in and waited there. He wasn't quite sure what to do, so he decided he'd be responsible and get a head start on this meditating stuff.

He sat down cross-legged and began to close the world out around him, trying to let the force be his eye.

Chester returned to the room that he and Taizen had situated themselves in the day before. He was clothed similarly, but he did not bring his lightsaber this time. He did not believe he needed it with him for the time being.

Good morning, Padawan, the Jedi Master spoke telepathically. You do well to begin your training. Shall we continue with our studies of the Force?

"Very well. I believe your mind is prepared and your skills suitable for this next task." The Jedi Master placed removed a holocron about the size of a child's fist and placed it on the ground in front of him. "Try to lift this with your mind; through telekinesis, if you will."

Taizen smiled and focused everything out of his mind except lifting that holocron. Then he focused the energy that he felt moving inside him and attempted to lift the holocron.

Chester watched, patiently, as his Padawan exerted all of the energy he could to lifting the device. "You can do it. Just focus a bit more, and let the Force guide your actions..."

Taizen flowed more of his energy into the process of lifting the object. He knew he could do it. In his room he had even moved his bed and other big objects by levitation when he was too tired to move them himself.

But why was this soo exhausting? Sweat started to pour down Taizens tattooed face and suddenly the room became hot. He was exhausted, but his eyes were still closed and he could literally feel sweat droplets on his eyes.

Finally, he lfited the holocron 1/2 an inch above the ground. He held it there and focused his energy in keeping it there.

Chester pondered while his Padawan was at work. It seemed that even the act of lifting this object was mentally exhausting. While not a problem by any means, it would require a bit more work on Chester's part to ensure Taizen could properly use the Force.

"Try to lift it higher now, Padawan. You have lifted it off the ground, and this is good. Feel the Force around you; let it compliment your strengths. Let it ease the burdens you carry. Lift the holocron higher," he repeated at last.

Still keeping the holocron hovering in mid-air Taizen reached out and attempted to grope the force. After a while he managed to come into contact with a strong powerful movement in the atmosphere. He reached out with his mind and exposed himself to it. Then he let it into him.

His heart rate immediately went down. Some of the sweat stopped pouring down his face, and he felt less tired. Suddenly, the holocron was lifted an inch higher off the ground.

Chester nodded. He was content with Taizen's progress. But the Padawan would need to increase his skill and the scope of his powers before he would be allowed to continue. "Now try moving the holocron horizontally, Padawan. And while you do so," Chester paused, and placed a small holobook on the ground by his feet, "also keep this item suspended. I want to make sure you have firmly grasped how to use this power."
