Sorry about the lateness, as per usual. On to business...
Firstly, funding seems a little...weak for a religious order that actually takes an active role in the galaxy. For middle-age europe, the Church being a superpower was a simple thing, because everyone pretty much followed the same religions unanimously in europe in the period, so iit conveniently sat above even royalty. For a church-type faction to be financially independant, it would have to rely on more than donations to survive, especially considering the active role this church has in the galaxy.
Secondly - lightsabers are in their incredibly early stage at this point. How on earth would an order that apparently does not have and never had any ties to the Jedi learn to utilize these weapons in battle without the teachings of the Jedi? Then again, we've had the undead, i've got wizards...ah screw it, go nuts.
