In the kitchen the two would make their plates with Clara doing most of the work for Daniel. It was strange seeing her totally powerful personality being so subservient to the teen. Was it just because she knew he was injured or sick? Or was there something different to their relationship? After a moment they'd hear Daniel moan and say out loud, "Oh damn! Mr. V. This is fire! You cook this yourself?"

Emily nodded to Daniel while Clara gave her boyfriend another annoyed sigh. Emily then turned her attention to August, and while making sure they couldn't see her, mouth the word "Wow" to him. They then quickly snuck away and escaped to the garage where Emily shut the door behind her with some concern.

"Is something wrong?" she asked when he needed her help.

August stared at her for a good long while, trying to figure out what to say to her. Finally he looked down and sighed before looking at her again. "What am I going to do with him?" he asked her simply.

He stood up and folded his arms across his chest. "He's a werewolf. The arch nemesis of vampires. They top demons, witches, angels, humans, whatever. They have the ability to kill us with one bite. One. Bite. And then we're dead. I'm supposed to be snapping his neck, tearing his heart out, folding him in half like a camping chair. Anything! What do I do? I patch him up, ask you to heal him...then I let him sleep in my bed and to top it all off I feed him breakfast that's supposedly bloody amazing!" his voice was harsh, but the more he spoke the louder it got. His gaze hardened and for a second his eyes began to start glowing red before returning to normal. He leaned in until their faces were inches apart. "I'm supposed to kill him and instead I care about him. I'd say that's quite a dilemma." he spoke softly but still harshly.

He was clearly not angry at her. No, he was angry at himself. "A feud as old as time itself that has cost me the life of dear friends and a lover." he spoke as he turned to look away. He regretted saying the last part, but it was said. He couldn't do anything about it now. "The sickest part about it? Not one of them died a good death. Not. One." he stood with his back towards her and his voice grew dark. "Do you know what werewolf venom does to a vampire?" he asked her softly.

He turned to face her, his expression a mixture between rage and grief. "First the wound festers, boils pop up. It's a sick mess and no amount of medicine or magic can heal it. Then the nightmares start. Horrible dreams, feeling as real as you or me right now. And since vampires don't sleep you should understand how bad that is. Then after that, the fever breaks out. A cold sweat, coughing up blood, nausea. Then you start craving blood more and more, feeling like you can drain a thousand people and it won't be enough. But you can't keep even a drop down, otherwise you will puke your guts out all over the place. Finally you get weaker and weaker, exhausted, starving and plagued with nightmares that never seem to end. Then, only after you won't even recognise the person, will they die." he came to a halt right in front of Emily. His voice was full of sorrow and fear. It was a death no vampire wanted. Not like that.

He pointed to the door behind Emily. "That boy is a killer! And yet despite all his kind has done here I sit, nursing him back to health!" he shouted at her. The feintest glimmer of tears formed in his eyes. He placed his hands on her shoulders as he looked into her eyes. "What am I supposed to do?" he asked in a desperate voice.

For awhile they just stood there. Looking at one another. Emily didn't want to press him, but she opened herself up to be more available to him through her body language. She set her arms behind her, pushed her chest out a little, and cocked her head ever so slightly to the side. It wasn't something she was even aware she was doing; it just felt natural. Finally August let out what was bothering him and asked what he was going to do with him.

It took her a moment to catch up but she would ask, "With...who? You mean Daniel? Like...he's fine. We saved him. Are you talking about giving him a ride or...?"

His explanation was not what Emily expected. Crossing his arms made Emily feel like he was mad at her, defending his honor or something that made no sense to the young woman. Daniel, whom they'd never met until today, was apparently his arch nemesis. Well, maybe he did still have a grudge against other races. That didn't exactly make her feel any better about their own relationship which was only starting to blossom. She was going to say something to question that when his tone got louder and just like with her parents, all her confidence left her.

Suddenly she found she couldn't look him in the eyes anymore. She averted her gaze and started looking at the things on the wall of the garage instead of August. And then he mentioned the word lover. Emily visibly stiffened as he brought it up. Her heart was pounding. What was he going on about? Lover? It was obvious he'd had other relationships in his life. He was over two thousand years old. But hearing him say that now made it seem like it was just something that happened only a few days ago. And it was not the sort of thing any girl ever wanted to hear.

He continued to rant about the werewolf bite as if it was some fault of hers that the kid was even there. Her open frame now changed with her mood as she closed her arms to her chest to hug herself and shield herself from him. His voice was soft, but still filled with so much anger and Emily couldn't separate the fact he wasn't in any sort of the way talking about her. But that's how it felt. She felt like her parents were scolding her again and now it was August doing the disciplining. Tears began to form in the corners of her mind but she bit her lip harshly to stop them from falling down. She couldn't let him see her cry. Not right now.

August got closer to her and she turned away, not wanting him to see her getting so worked up right now. This was supposed to be about him, not her. He reminded Emily that Daniel was a killer. And here he was helping him get back on his feet. Now it really felt like her fault. She was the one who saved him in the end. She was the one who risked everything with her blood and brought the kid back from the verge of death. That's what all this was about. August wasn't mad at Daniel, or Clara. He was mad at her.

His hand came to touch her shoulder and she pulled away violently. Turning around she finally let the tears fall and she screamed at him, "WELL I'M SORRY I TRIED TO DO THE RIGHT THING!"

Emily made for the door and threw it open so hard it slammed into the wall and left a hole where the handle hit it. She practically ran into the house and made a beeline for the bathroom before slamming that door shut too and locking it. She threw herself down on the toilet and began to sob quietly to herself while holding her chest. Her purple hair fell past her bangs and into her face, sticking to her cheeks from the salty tears.

Emily erupted in tears and screamed at him, then she stormed off into the house. August stood there, wide eyed, mouth slightly agape and in complete shock. Why was she angry? He wasn't angry at her, he needed help from her. Now she just left him when he was in his most vulnerable position. Now she was angry at him. He straightened out and marched into the house, past the open dining room and straight towards the bedroom. He could hear her crying behind the locked door. He knocked rather harshly on the door and tried to open it without breaking it. "Emily?! Emily, open up! I'm not angry at you dammit! I-" he turned and pressed his back against the door. He wasn't in a proper state of mind to try and talk to her now. It would only make things worse.

He needed to get out. But he couldn't just leave Emily alone in the house. He walked out of the bedroom and towards the living room where he came to a standstill. He was shaking with anger, his nails were drilling into his palms as he clenched his fists. His breathing was deep and harsh and his eyes were glowing red. He looked up at the two teenagers who were sitting by the table. "You stay in this house and take care of her. No one comes in. She doesn't go out. Two women will be coming over later, one with red eyes and white hair, the other with golden eyes and black hair with red tips. Let them in if I'm not back by then. You can only go home when they get here. If I find out any of those orders were not followed to the letter, I'll kill both of you." his voice was cold and they would know he wasn't joking around.

He stormed off to the garage and got into his car. He fired up the engine and lurched out of his driveway. In the road he stepped on the breaks and re-lined his car. The V8 roared, the tyres squealed and in a cloud of tyre smoke he blasted off to clear his head. He drove towards the mountain at a very illegal speed. But he didn't care. So what if he crashed? He was enraged, but slowly that rage was being replaced by something else. He wasn't sure what it was. But it hurt badly. She was the only person he felt could help him and she dropped him high and dry just like that. In a moment he was most vulnerable and needed her, she got angry at him and ran away.

He wasn't sure what it was. But it hurt badly. A knot formed in his throat and his head pounded. He floored his car and when he reached the mountain he pulled up the handbrake, sliding the car into a drift that he maintained the entire way up the mountain. At this point it was all he could think of to calm him down, but even the thrill of being behind the wheel wasn't enough. When he reached the top the car came to a standstill and he climbed out. He held his head in his hands, slightly pulling his hair. He spun around and with a scream he kicked the left fender of his car.

It folded in and the front of the car skidded across the road from the force of the kick. He instantly regretted the decision and looked around. Thankfully he was alone. His pained face dropped to guilt as he walked over to the car. A perfect metaphor for why he had to get out of there. He knelt down next to the bent fender and ran his hand gently against it. He felt guilty for the damage and carefully bent the fender back. Soon it was back in place, good as new, but the paint was still scuffed up and he was still feeling terrible. He sat down and rested his back and head against the car, breathing shakily. Why was she angry at him? He needed her help, he was torn in half over what he believed and what he felt. Why was she angry at him? He was confused. No matter how he thought about it he couldn't figure out why she was angry at him.

He looked up into the sky. A few ravens flew past and disappeared off into the distance. He doubted it was Evelyn or Eden. No one knew he was here. And who would care? The only person who would have was down there, furious at him because he tried to confide in her. He needed her, and she left him for some reason he didn't understand.

"Go away!" she'd cry out as he knocked on the door. August protested trying to say he wasn't mad at her, but his loud voice wasn't saying that at all. She flinched and remained where she was, seated on the porcelain. She didn't want to be fighting with him either. And if he only stayed maybe he could explain things. Only...he said nothing else to her and she figured he gave up.

She couldn't blame him. She was a demon after all. It was only natural for them to be hated and unliked. It was something she knew she had to get used to, but it never made it any easier. Especially not from coming from her new boyfriend. She thought their relationship was perfect, but that's not how the real world worked. Nothing every worked out like the books or the movies.

In the other room, Clara would look over at August with some concern in her eyes. Whatever was going on she was oblivious to, and had no desire to get in the way of this lovers spat. Clara was about to protest something to August when he mentioned killing them. Only Daniel beat her to the punch.

"Don't worry Mr. V. We'll take care of her."

Clara pulled his shirt so she could whisper into his ear, "We don't have time to sit here all day!"

Daniel didn't bother to keep his voice down, "Hey, she saved my life. Keeping her company is a small price to pay."

Grumbling, Clara forced herself to smile toward August in agreement to his terms but he was already gone and the sounds of the car in the garage took off. The two then had a small conversation to themselves before turning their attention to some of August's television systems and putting in a movie from his accounts. They made themselves right at home seemingly ignoring the fact that there had been a crying Emily going through the couch. Neither of them knew the "warlock" so intruding wasn't something either of them wanted to do. Daniel was a nice soul in plenty of ways so it was a little hard for him not to go snooping around. Clara, on the other hand, reminded him it was none of their business and to leave her be. So they did.

For awhile Emily sat in the bathroom until she made herself sick. Literally. After emptying her stomach of this mornings breakfast she finally got the courage to come out and find her phone. She'd heard his car leave, so she knew August was long gone. Which only made her crying worse. She couldn't take it anymore though and so after picking up the cell phone she sent him a text begging him to return.

"August. Please come back. I'm sorry I yelled at you. I was out of line. I'm sorry. Just come talk to me."

And then she waited.

August sat against his car, baking in the sun. He didn't care to move. He finally figured out what he was feeling.

Betrayal.

He was no stranger to betrayal. But in a relationship he would never expect it. This falling out cut deeply and he hated it. The fact that it had to happen with Emily hurt even more. He gave a single sniff as he just stared out in front of him. While no tears rolled down his face his eyes were slightly bloodshot. He wasn't sure what to do. How to react to this. How to fix this. He gave another sniff when he felt his phone vibrate. He pulled it out of his pocket and checked who messaged him.

Emily.

He cleared his throat as he stared at the screen. It went black and he switched it on again. He unlocked his phone and the message opened up. She would know he checked it. He didn't care. He dropped his hand to his leg and leaned his head back against his car. After a few minutes he looked down at the phone and typed.

Just...give me a minute.

He hit 'send' and locked his phone again, just sitting back and looking out over the city. Well that was a start. She wanted him to return to her, but he wasn't sure whether he wanted to just yet. But he knew he couldn't just stay away from her. He had to face her eventually. He opened his phone again.

On the way.

With that he stood up slowly and slumped into the driver seat. He slowly closed the door and started the car with a bit of a struggle. When it started he sighed heavily. A cylinder was misfiring. That'll teach him for hammering the old girl that bad. He drove off slowly and calmly down the mountain, like a normal person on a casual drive. After a bit he was standing in front of the garage door once again, clicking his car keys together in his hand. He drew a deep breath and opened the door. When he saw Emily, he didn't look at her. He stood in place for several seconds, not knowing what to do. Finally he looked up with sad eyes. "I scratched my fender." he said softly.

He didn't want to take this head on. Especially not in front of the Shadow Huntress and her boyfriend. He would finally move closer to Emily and wrap his arms around her and press his head against hers with a shaky breath. "I'm sorry." he whispered to her for only her to hear.

Waiting felt awful. So awful. Relief came much quicker though than she expected and she quickly swiped her screen to light.

August. Please come back. I'm sorry I yelled at you. I was out of line. I'm sorry. Just come talk to me.

Just...give me a minute.

Ok. Drive safe. :)

On the way.

I'll be here.

With a sigh of relief Emily closed her phone and fell back against the bed. Whatever happened, hopefully it was over. She didn't know how he'd react when he came home but if they were going to fix things then some air needed to be cleared. She waited there in the room for about five minutes before leaving and returning to the main room with the annoyingly bizarre couple. She sat down on a different side to the couch silently; neither of the parties spoke to her. Daniel occasionally glanced over to check on the purple haired girl, but Clara kept her eyes glued to the television screen.

When the roaring of his engine shook the house, Emily jumped up and ran to the garage to meet him. She clutched her hands behind her back while he pulled in and when he stepped out of the car her gaze would falter. She tried staying positive, but he had just yelled at her and things were not out of the woods yet. She hated confrontation. And silence filled between them when he walked up to her, towering over her small frame with his large broad shoulders.

"I'm sorry. I'm sure you can get it looked at, yeah?"

She didn't know much about cars but she knew they could be fixed or new parts bought. Easy enough. And if they were going to make small talk then even better. Smooth things back to how they were and then make up and talk about the difficult stuff. Or not. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her against him tightly. All of her doubt washed away like rainwater. Suddenly she couldn't find why she was so upset with him and everything was right with the world again.

"I'm sorry too," she replied after he said it.

Her hands moved in front of her and she coiled them around his body to start clinging to his back. She didn't want him to be mad at her. Or yell at her. Ever ever again.

He just held onto her. He didn't want to let go. They were both wrong, and it seemed they were both willing to do what they can to fix what was broken. Their relationship would only grow stronger out of this. He finally released her after what felt like forever and gave her a kiss on the forehead. At least he had time to figure out his dilemma on the mountain and was willing to try and make peace.

He looked at Daniel who was sitting on his couch, watching TV with what he only hoped was his own account. His hatred ran deep, but so did his compassion. He walked over to the kid and stared him down with a cold expression. Finally he slowly raised his right hand and held it for him to shake. The gesture might seem petty to Daniel, even laughable. But to him it meant the world. He doubted anyone in the room understood the gesture, but they didn't need to. This was for him and him alone.

He held his hand and when the boy shook it he would flash a warm smile and looked at Clara. "You guys need a ride or will you manage?"

The longer he held her the quicker everything started to make sense again. She couldn't stay mad at him. His words were already taking on different tones in her head and she realized he'd never been yelling at her, even though that's what it felt like at the time. Emily smiled when he kissed her forehead and she'd stand up on her toes to give him a kiss on his lips. They'd then move back into the living room where Clara and her mutt boyfriend were still watching the show on the screen.

August would start walking over to them and both girls in the room feared a fight was about to break out. Emily bit her lip and took a step back; Clara tensed and balled her fists together. Only Daniel seemed completely at ease. He simply stared at the vampire looking down at him with a charming smile. There was a serious tension in the air that three of the four people felt. Until finally August raised his hand. Not missing a beat, Daniel raised his, shook it, then did a little special hand slap good friends did, hitting the palms back to back followed by him pounding it like a rock.

Not saying anything, he just nodded his head and then pulled back and wrapped the arm around Clara who was still a little tense about all this. Emily relaxed a little with a groan and would slowly sneak up beside August who then asked if the two needed a ride.

"Got it covered, Mr. V. Come on Claire, let's roll."

Moving off the couch Daniel and then Clara would move past August and Emily to head to the door. Daniel looked at his messy shirt and would nod his head for a moment. He then ripped it clean off exposing his well formed chest and abs. Clara's eyes drifted right there with a smirk and it was becoming a little more obvious why she'd chosen him. Clara quickly looked away and left the door without another word; Daniel would merely wave his hand and give them a "peace" sign.

"They seem......strange," Emily whispered when they were out of earshot, against all the irony in her sentence.

August stepped aside and let them pass freely. They made their way to the front door and Daniel decided to tear what was left of his shirt off. He caught the look Clara gave Daniel and smirked. Daniel gave a final wave and the door closed behind them. Emily commented on the couple's strange relationship and August chuckled. "Remind you of anyone?" he said over his shoulder to her.

He turned around and walked over to Emily. He pulled her close and planted a kiss on her lips. Things were feeling back to normal and he was glad. He didn't want to fight with her. He hated it. He knew that it would inevitably happen again eventually, but he still hated it. He gave her another kiss on the lips then held her close against him. He didn't have words for their situation. But words weren't needed. He was just glad to have her back.

He did have words for his other predicament, though. "Emily...I hurt my car." he said softly in a joking sad voice.

Rolling her eyes she let that statement of the odd couple reminding them of themselves and then started to walk away when August pulled her back and pressed a kiss to her lips. Like always, she surrendered to it, never turning down affection from him. He'd then give her another kiss that made her smile and her cheeks to slowly start turning red again. His arms wrapped around her and the tiny little demon melted into his tall and sturdy frame. She loved how solid he always felt, like a rock.

When he then pretended to be sad as he mentioned hi car she'd giggle a little and look up at him, "You dork. Go call someone. I'm sure there's a dealership somewhere who can work on it. Or bodyshop or whatever. What about all those fancy Japanese cars I see in movies? They always got the sickest paint jobs. One of them could fix you up, yeah?"

Emily had really no idea how any of that worked. But she was hopeful and that was probably all that mattered.

Emily gave a few ideas of how to fix up his car. It was a good idea were he not a car enthusiast. "You kidding me? Japanese car guys work on American muscle? Not happening." he spoke in a mock offended manner, deciding to run along with the joke. He gave another kiss on the forehead and rested his head on top of hers with a sigh. "No, it's all good. I got tools here to fix up the engine and I just need to go buy the right paint to fix up the scratches." he explained casually.

Knowing that she was not interested in the slightest, he looked at the TV still playing behind them. It would only be an hour or so before Evelyn and Serenity came over and with nothing better to do he figured they could just waste their time on the couch. "Wanna just loaf on the couch and burn daylight?" he said, looking back at her with a smile. What else was there to do?

Emily just stared at him as he joked about the locals fixing up his foreign car. She didn't really get the difference, and to her it sounded a little racist on his part. A car was a car...wasn't it? But he then explained he could fix it easily enough and that all he really needed was paint. He'd give her a final kiss before bringing her in tighter and rested his head on hers. She looked absently forward into his chest and his muscular arms before sighing herself and closing them.

After a moment of thinking to himself, her boyfriend would suggest just sitting around on the couch. To her, that sounded like the perfect idea. They hadn't really spent any time just cuddling together, save for what they did in bed after their adult wrestling. She nodded her head and then pulled away from him and smiled. "Make some popcorn? We'll watch a movie?"

With a giddy laughter she would walk about turning the lights off and pulling up some blankets to snuggle under. She knew his skin would be cold and that would only make her shiver, so she needed enough warmth to counter that. Once he planted himself into the corner she would wiggle her way into his frame between his arms and legs and curl her legs up behind her. They pulled the blankets up and then began to nom on the popcorn while the movie played trailers until the menu screen appeared.

But it wasn't one hour, like August hoped, for Evelyn to return. It wasn't even two hours. A full movie later they ended up calling her -with no answer- and decided to start a second one. She returned to her spot with him and it wasn't until halfway through that next movie did the doorbell finally ring. "Finally," she groaned and would hand August the remote for him to pause the movie. She then got up for him and moved to sit in the couch while he answered the door.

Evelyn who was dressed in a white tank top with blue jeans and red sweater, was standing at the front of the door with Serenity behind her. The vampire tribred on the other hand, was not so covered up. She was wearing a long red dress that cut past her hips exposing her right leg all the way down to her ankle cut heels that had slim bindings that wrapped over her lovely feet. Her toes, like her nails, were painted the same red as the dress: the color of fresh blood. Around her neck was a thick leather collar that had an Ankh symbol danging from it, one he'd seen so many times over.

"We're hereeeee!" Evelyn greeted August in singsong. "You ready to play teacher, Cappy?

Emily agreed to watching the movie and he gladly went to the kitchen to get her some popcorn. It was only enough for her, since he couldn't eat the stuff. It pained him to ruin the moment like that but sadly there was nothing that could be done about it.

He brought the bowl and planted himself in the corner of the couch. Emily snuggled up against him and he wrapped his arms around her body, holding her close while she was wrapped up in her blanket to keep her warm...it seemed that romantic tradiotions weren't meant for vampires. As they watched he would try and eat a piece of popcorn occasionally, but swallowing it was harder than swallowing a pill the size of a big marble. He did try at least. For her.

He thought that Evelyn would be there by the end of the movie, but it seemed that they were on their own time. August didn't complain. It gave him and Emily more time to move on from their mess earlier and just return things to normal.

As they were halfway through the second movie, the doorbell rang. August took the remote and paused the movie before standing up to open the door. Evelyn seemed more dressed for training than the elf. While Serenity looked gorgeous, August couldn't help but frown at her choice of clothing. "Don't get me wrong, you're not looking bad at all...but I thought that we would be training, not going out on a date." he spoke in a slightly serious tone, trying to make sense of what he was seeing. Who was responsible for this choice of clothing in the first place?

Emily didn't even notice him taking the popcorn she was so engrossed in the movie. He could have avoided it all together and saved himself the trouble. He'd done that to himself. Later, when August then confronted Evelyn at the door he'd give the white haired girl a backhanded compliment, saying she looked good but wasn't fit for battle. She merely eyed him up and down and then turned her attention to Evelyn and spoke in French.

"He does realize I'm wearing an illusion charm, no?"

Evelyn snickered but didn't reply. She knew he could speak the language, she'd just done so in her native tongue out of ease; she didn't care that August might have to translate for himself or for the demon in the other room. They both walked in and Evelyn would go to her daughter to give her a hug. "How are you feeling, sweetie?"

Picking up the popcorn she held the bowl to her mother and replied, "Good. We were watching a movie. Now are you staying.....or going back?"

"Oh I can't sweetie," she would say as she took a handful and then chomped on it. "I've got to get back to thinks, but the Order will be keeping an eye on the place."

Rolling her eyes, "Oh great, the babysitters again."

Evelyn would then rub Emily's head messing up her purple hair and go to stand, "I wish you'd stop changing that; I miss your black."

"No thanks mom. Not after someone called is sisters."

"I was rather flattered by it," Evelyn said after faking a gasp or insult.

Emily rolled her eyes, "It's weird enough I'm older than you and will always look older."

Meanwhile, while the girls caught up, Serenity would move past August to head to the kitchen. She sniffed her nose a few times and then curiously gave August a knowing face. There were a lot of chemicals in the air. Something had bled, and recently. But it wasn't Emily. There was no need to clean up after that blood; it did it on its own. So...who's then?

August stared at Serenity, quite surprised by her native language. He understood perfectly what she said and gave her an annoyed look. She could have chosen a bit better with the illusion spell but he didn't press the matter. He stepped out of the doorway and let them come inside. He closed the door behind them and stood at the open archway leading to the living room. Emily and Evelyn exchanged pleasantries and since Evelyn couldn't stay he figured that Aeryun would be arriving any time soon...but apparently Evelyn would save him from that meeting and said that the Order was going to keep an eye on her. Thank goodness.

Serenity caught his attention. She started walking around, sniffing the air and looking back at him. He knew that she could smell the chemicals, but he had no intention of explaining it. He folded his arms and walked towards her. "Unless you want to lose your tongue, I'd suggest not asking any questions." he spoke softly in perfect French as he stared her down. He didn't want to explain the reason at all due to who was responsible and what the situation caused. He just wanted to let it go.

He looked Serenity over. With her small build and choice of clothing, she was most certainly looking quite beautiful. He stared at he before snapping out of it at looking her in the eyes again. He turned and walked away, knowing that she most likely caught him staring.

He walked towards Emily and Evelyn. "Alright. I guess me and Serenity better get going. Emily, will you be alright?" he looked at Evelyn as well. "You sure you don't want to stay, Evelyn? I got quite a few snacks in the kitchen for the two of you and my Netflix account is open for you two."

In the kitchen, Serenity would follow August with her eyes as he came and whispered to her in her language, warning her not to ask questions. She opened her lip seductively showing him a fang and then pursed her lips like she was going to blow him a kiss. He'd then walk away leaving her there to wander about looking the rest of the house over. August's attention was then directed to the other girls and asked his date if she'd be alright. She nodded her head and he then asked the mother if she wanted to stay.

"Can't. Got to get back. But she's in good hands. Both of them."

She gave her daughter one last hug and then headed to the door and waved them both goodbye. She stepped out, and shut it behind her as she went to confirm things with the Order hiding out in the shadows before leaving. Emily would continue to sit there on the couch trying to look cheerful. She knew she'd be safe there. But it didn't make being alone any easier; she didn't want him to leave.

"How long will you be gone?" she'd ask, having had no discussion of his plans for the evening.

Evelyn excused herself and August waved back as she disappeared out the door. Emily tried to put on a cheerful appearance but August knew better. "Most likely a couple hours. I want to see what she's made of before we kick it into high gear. Don't worry, I'll try to be back by midnight." he knelt down and gave her a kiss on the lips. He pulled back and gave her warm smile. "Try not to burn the house down while I'm gone." he said with a chuckle and stood up.

He looked around the house for Serenity, checking that she didn't find her way into the bedroom. The smell of both Daniel and the previous night's activities were still quite prominent. That nose is going to be the death of her. He gave Emily a worried look and mouthed "wish me luck" before turning for the front door. He grabbed his leather jacket from a coat hanger and opened the door. "Come on Serenity. Let's get going!" he called out and waited for her before waving to Emily and disappearing out the door.

Outside he slid his hands into his jacket pockets and walked casually towards the mountain up the road of his house. It probably came off strange to not take the car but he had his reasons. Not only didn't he want to write the engine off further, but it was already a part of the test. He looked at Serenity next to him. "Alright, first test. Get to the top of the mountain before me." he said casually, his laid back pace not changing for one second as he walked up the road. With the sun going down they were pretty safe from being seen by humans.

Odds of Serenity being quicker than him were low, and no amount of training could get her to catch up with 2000 years of vampirism. But He could still teach her how to handle that speed effectively. Besides, when moving at the speed of sound a whole list of new opportunities open up.

"Alright then..." she sighed dejectedly after he kissed her. He'd then tease her about not burning the house down and that brought a little smile to her face again. "Just be safe you two."

She would watch the two leave and then sigh loudly now that she was alone. Turning back to the movie she tried her best to curl up into the spot she was before, but without her sturdy rock to lean against she just couldn't get comfy. Emily made the best of it and turned the movie back on so she could finish it and let it distract her from the fact that August was out with another woman.

Outside, the two vampires would make a slow walk up the road from the manor. Serenity curiously looked around while also paying attention to August in hopes of learning what his plan was. When they were a good distance from the house he would explain her first test: that she needed to get to the top of the mountain before him. But he didn't explain any of the rules, and that's what really brought a smirk to her lips. He was probably expecting her to only use her vampire powers, but he didn't say that out loud.

Serenity would hold her hand out toward August and whisper a word in Latin, "Lentus...." August would feel the ground under his feet turning to mush and his feet sticking to the pavement like he was walking through glue. Then, with a burst of speed, she bolted past him and started rushing for the mountain.

August heard her mutter the word and he knew what it meant. Using his vampire strength he tore his feet loose from the ground and blasted off after her. He passed her quickly enough and arrived at the top a few seconds before her, leaning against a tree and watching as she arrived on top of the mountain. "First you try to cheat with the challenge, then you also take your time. Amazing." he spoke sarcastically.

He turned and walked further up the mountain, motioning for her to follow. "Don't feel to bad though. For a young vampire such as yourself you're not too slow at all. I'm impressed." he spoke with a smile. He meant what he said. After a few more steps August would make sure no one was around. He turned and stood right in front of her. "Alright. We've seen your speed. Let's see your strength. Hit me...without any tricks or spells. Punch me in the gut as hard as you can." he said calmly, as if asking her to pass the salt.

He hardened his muscles and waited for the bone shattering punch to come, though against him it wouldn't amount to all that much. This was once again a test to see what her maximum was. "As hard as you can. Don't worry, I can take it. Just don't hurt your hand." he finished with a smug smile.
