Serenity was running as fast as she could, the thrill of the wind in her face was unlike anything else. She'd never really gotten to let loose like this. Sure she moved fast in combat, but to just outright run? Never. And it showed. August passed her quickly and was making his way up the rest of the mountain. Serenity reached up to her necklace while bearing her fangs angrily. But....she didn't pull it off. She'd save that surprise for later.

Rushing to the finish she came to a stop and brushed her white hair behind her head. She then did the same down to her dress which had become ruffled in the wind. It was surprising she hadn't changed outfits for she'd just done all that in practically a skirt, all while wearing her heels too. But balance was such a human thing, a frail thing. The heels did nothing to hinder her in the slightest.

August would tease her, saying she took her time. But he did call her out for cheating. Perhaps he thought his words might actually wound her because he then said she shouldn't feel bad. Even if he thought she was a young vampire -which was true, but still- he finally gave her a compliment and that made her smirk some.

She then replied back in his tongue with a thick French accent, "You did not state the rules of this test. Mousier. You can not say I was le cheating."

Moving up further he found a spot that they wouldn't be found and turned to face her. What he asked surprised the tribrid. He wanted her to hit him? She eyed him for a second, wondering if this was another test. But he added he wanted it as hard as she could muster, claiming he could take it. And then, adding insult to injury, he said for her to not hurt herself doing so. Fine. If that's the way he wanted to play.

Using her vampiric speed the girl was right on him as the final words left his mouth. Her arm swung up giving him a gut punch with all her strength. One thing August was probably not fully aware of, was that this girl had been raised in a household of feminine warriors whose sole duty was to fight and learn martial combat. Serenity knew exactly how to throw a punch and he'd regret underestimating her. But for one other reason too. Unlike August, who likely had drank animal blood or frozen/refrigerated blood in his life, Serenity had only ever been given the best blood. Evelyn's. Her supernatural blood was swimming throughout the vampire's body giving her the strongest life force known to this world. As such, she would hit August with a deadly realization: Serenity was much stronger than him.

Her punch would hit him square in the gut...but it was not at all what he was prepared for. All his internal organs shattered, ruptured or burst. His lower ribs snapped and he flew back several feet. He collapsed on the ground and rolled over onto his side, blood spilling out of his mouth from all the internal bleeding. He groaned and weakly sat up, staring at her with wide eyes as blood dripped from his mouth onto the road.

How is it possible? What type of power was in this girl that gave her the ability to surpass 2000 years of battle hardened vampirism? It was a shock to August. To be the strongest vampire on earth for centuries then to suddenly realise you have been passed by a young girl a few seconds ago. Not only was he shocked, he was embarrassed, humiliated...and angry. He blasted off, grabbing hold of her neck and slamming her down onto the ground, holding her in place. He raised his right fist, ready to blend her head in with the road. Blood was covering his lips and their faces were inches apart. He was furious and it was showing in his glowing red eyes.

His eyes returned to normal and he stared down at her. His bloody mouth formed into a smirk and he released her, standing back up. "Not bad, mad Mozelle. Not bad at all." his voice was weak as he spoke. He took a few steps back and lifted his shirt up. His entire stomach was purple...that will be an embarrassing story to tell Emily. His organs started healing and blood stopped pooling into his mouth. He spit some out and turned to look at her. "Alright final test. Show your true form to the world. Turn for me." his voice was back to normal. He stood an stared her down as the sun disappeared behind him. As the sunlight disappeared his red eyes glowed brightly and his pupils stretched out. "Turn."

To say she was proud of herself...well that was an unexpected perk. Serenity watched as her teacher flew from his spot and rolled when he hit the ground. She could taste the blood in the air as he spat it out of his mouth; not that she'd ever dream of drinking his. Serenity smirked and stood up, rubbing her wrist like she was trying to be cool. She really wanted to say, "I guess I don't know my own strength," but she felt that was too cliche.

Before she had time to think of another witty comment instead August had launched himself at her in retaliation. She might have been stronger, but he was far faster. She felt his iron grip dig into her throat and crush her into the ground. She gasped and gagged, the feeling of choking making her squirm. When he raised his fist Serenity prepared for the punch. Her instincts kicked in and her hands burst into flames as she summoned her inner magic.

Then just like that the anger was gone and his red eyes started to fade. She looked up at him carefully, before letting her own flames die down into embers in her palms. August released her after giving her a proud smirk and a compliment. She pushed herself up by her elbows and looked up at him while he got off her and stood. Checking his wounds, she clearly saw the extent of the damage she'd done to him. Seeing it now, it wasn't anything to be proud of. Now she felt kinda bad. Least he'd heal from it.

Serenity would then sit up and rub at her throat. Unlike August, she actually did need to breathe. She wasn't a fully formed vampire like him. And when he then asked her to turn for him, she looked up at him with a guilty face. "I uh.....cannot turn. There is no vampire form to myself. This is all I am."

She had a guilty look about her as she told him that she didn't have a true form. He thought that maybe she didn't know how to unleash it, but then again she wasn't a true vampire. He cocked his head to the side as he looked at her. "Well alright then I'll just give you a lift. I'm thirsty." he spoke in his deep, demonic voice. He walked towards her, growing in size and turning into his demonic form until he stood right in front of her. He towered over her by several feat. His massive bat wings were furled up behind his back and he simply stared down at her. His stomach was still purple, but with his pale skin it was a little brighter.

He took her shoulders and turned her around. He wrapped both arms around her and his enormous wings unfurled. "I hope you don't mind heights." he said with a chuckle. Before she could answer his wings flapped down, launching them both into the air with a hard gust of wind. He kept flapping, going straight up until they were a few thousand feet over the city. August glided through the air, his bat-like feet holding onto Serenity's legs to make sure she was not flapping around as he flew. His eyes were scanning the bright city down below. After several minutes he focused in on one dark alley. An old lady was being held up by a punk with a knife. August chuckled a demonic, evil chuckle as he glided further. "Time to do our civil duty."he spoke and dove straight down, still holding tightly onto Serenity as his wings folded up. With the speed they were going it seemed as if they were going to crash into the ground. Before they were lit up by the city lights, August opened his wings and slowed their descent, avoiding all the lights carefully.

They glided down until they were right on the roof of the alley, overlooking the scenario before them while shrouded in darkness from the night. August let Serenity go and turned back into his normal self. "Dinner time." he said with a shrug of his shoulders and jumped down, landing the 5-storey jump as if it were nothing. His sudden appearance caught the kid's attention and he started yelling at him in Japanese. August kept walking forwards, ignoring the kid's threats. When he reached the kid he grabbed hold of him by the throat and slammed him into the wall next to the old lady. "I suggest you leave." he said casually to the old lady and she hurried along surprisingly quick for her age.

"Serenity, I'll try and save some for you if I can." August spoke as he stared at the kid with a smirk. The kid stabbed him in the gut multiple times but he ignored the wounds. He grabbed the kid's wrist and, instead of simply disarming him, tore his hand from his forearm. His hand tightened around the kid's throat, making sure he couldn't scream. His massive tongue emerged from his mouth and he licked the bloody hand off as he stared into the kid's soul. After licking the hand off he threw it aside. "You won't make a sound or interrupt me at all. You will not move a muscle as I feed on you. You will die like the worthless piece of meat you are and you will remain awake until the very end." his voice was cold and his pupils dilated as he spoke.

The kid went slack in his grip and the only thing moving was his frightened eyes. August's eyes turned blood red and every tooth in his mouth turned into razor sharp fangs. He dropped the kid on the floor behind a dumpster and climbed over him, sinking his teeth into the punk's tender neck and draining him of every drop of blood in his body. After a few minutes of greedy feasting, he stood up, licked his lips off and returned back to normal. He wiped a drop of blood from his cheek and looked at Serenity with a satisfied grin. "Much better already." he spoke calmly.

Serenity nodded her head when he bought the lie that she told. She hoped it was something that he wouldn't catch, but he didn't know her well enough to detect those things. Plus, given her training with her sisters she was an excellent liar. No offense to the vampire and all. For she did have a form, far different than her human one, she just didn't want to share it with this man. Not on their first date.

August would then come up to her and turn into his true and fully complete form. Her eyes looked up at him while she smirked and let out one of her fangs in a seductive grin. Shivers ran down her spine as she thought the worst possible thoughts she could have. After all, she'd been neglected being with a man. Aside from Eden who almost never came around, she'd never really seen another male. His large and terrifying body made her burn with desire from within.

He would turn her around and wrap his large bulky arms around her, collapsing her into him. So many thoughts came into her mind, but the most predominant was that she wanted to tear into him with her fangs. Just to see what he'd do. She wanted to fight him some more. To test his strength and her own. She wanted to fight him and prove her dominance over the cocky vampire who thought he knew everything.

The two of them would rush into the sky as the world left them. She was in the clouds before she realized it. Vampire speed was indescribable sometimes. Serenity felt like she'd been teleported away by one of Auntie Eve's portals. The world she saw was gone, replaced by the world beneath her that -all things considered- looked fake from this far up. The city was cut into perfect squares and grids and everything just looked like a playset. If that didn't give her more of a god complex then nothing would.

In this moment, she was having a total adrenaline high. August would hear her heat beating in her chest, something he likely hadn't paid attention to up until now. She wasn't a vampire like him; she still had a beating heart. A heart that was pumping blood even sweeter than Emily's. Though he wouldn't know that. Evelyn's was far more potent and that rush he felt when drinking the offspring of that blood, well it would be all that more intense. Especially now with all those other magical properties worked into it. And with her being right there in his arms...he'd probably find that rather hard to resist.

Luckily, the vampire had his mind set on a goal and perhaps that's what kept him on track. He found his perfect victim and the two of them descended with lightning speed. Serenity didn't even flinch. In fact, she seemed to be leaning into it. Was she as much of a thrill seeker as Evelyn? They came to a slow droop though and landed safely out of sight making Serenity pout inside. She licked her lips after August set her down and moved to the edge of the building to look down at their soon-to-be dinner. Now that they were out in public, Serenity would reach up and unclip the Ankh from her necklace. Her heavenly light surrounded her for a moment before revealing the Order of the Eye outfit she'd been wearing when he first met her. She covered up her face with the red scarf and for a moment, August could have seen her large leather collar was still around her neck (though the Ankh was gone with the spell broken).

The two would jump down to the ground and scare the living daylights out of the two humans. He would threaten the boy while slamming him effortlessly into the wall then order the woman to leave. Turning her head to watch the lady go, Serenity waved her hand and whispered a simple memory spell which would wipe the last few hours from the woman's mind. Just in case. She then turned her attention back to August. He was being...far too outgoing. Weren't they supposed to be in hiding? Did he not care that Nephilim or other members of the Downworld would come to find them? Leaving not only a dead body but a witness too? Careless. Sloppy. She wondered how the man had survived for however long he did if this is how he acted. But her judgments were biased. Nothing might ever come of this. No one would ever know. But Serenity had been taught to never leave a trail. That's how her Order had survived for as long as it did.

Out of charity, her teacher would offer her some of his meal to which she scoffed and said with disgust, "I don't want that garbage." That's honestly how she felt about that kid. Not just because he was some worthless thug, but because she truly did not like to drink from humans. They were unclean and from what she assumed, would taste salty. What with all the fast food they ate.

But something did happen as August bit into the kid and then pulled away to trance him. Serenity couldn't help but move closer, wanting to get a better view of it. That was something she'd never been taught to do. Her sisters couldn't help her with actual vampire powers. Mind control? Hypnosis? Wonderful tools for an assassin. Maybe this Augustus Valerius would have some interesting lessons for her.

"What will you do with ze body?" she would ask when he finished drinking. "Please do not tell me you are keeping 'im 'ere?"

He stood over the body, feeling much better now. More in control. "You should have gotten some. It's nice to have a little junk food once in a while." he said with a smirk. She asked him what he wanted to do with the body and he looked down at the boy. His right hand's nails elongated, sharpened...then sliced through the kid's neck. Not a drop of blood left the kid's corpse as August dismembered the kid then dumped the mess in a dumpster. "This is Yakuza territory. They wouldn't like a kid doing business on their turf. This way it will look like they murdered him someplace else and dumped him here. he explained as he worked to get rid of all the evidence.

When he was finally done he dusted his hands off and turned to face Serenity. They were all alone. No people, no cameras, no ninjas, nothing. In this moment August noticed her heartbeat. He walked forward to stand right in front of her. His eyes moved from hers down to her neck, then down to her chest. It was bizarre to hear a heartbeat from a vampire. His vision changed, allowing him to see her heart, arteries and veins while blacking out the rest. This girl had no idea what her very being meant to him. He listened and watched as her heart pumped glowing red blood through her body.

It was then that he noticed a rather significant heat emanate from both her stomach...and lower. His vision returned to normal as he stared her in the eyes with a raised eyebrow. He noticed her seductive smiles, hungry eyes, the change in her heartbeat as he took hold of her before flying. But he brushed it aside. It was only now that he actually took note of Serenity's desires. "There something you want to tell me?" he asked flatly as he stood right in front of her. He knew what she was thinking...though he wasn't sure what to make of it.

Something told him training was not very high on her list of priorities for the night.

"One of us has a figure to maintain," she'd scoff back at his devil may care attitude.

Watching him then he began to dismember the body which even she found to be rather tasteless. Serenity would turn her head and take a few steps away to look out down the alleyway. She didn't want anyone coming in seeing this. No one should have to see this.

Turning her head she looked back to August when he was finished and say, "I would make a remark about how humans are cruel creatures...but you just followed in zer footsteps."

He came to join her then and as he stood in front of her, he was staring at her. Serenity looked up and tried to guess what it was he was staring at. There wasn't much of her skin showing, or her chest, so it couldn't have been those. Though even in this outfit her slender curves all across her body were rather accentuated. He would ask her point blank if there was something she wanted to tell him. Serenity shifted her weight to her hip and would cross her arms.

"You are careless."

That was probably not what he was expecting to hear.

Her remarks made it clear that she was not at all pleased with his methods. But in a case like this he wasn't bothered. It kept organisations and humans off their tracks and that was good enough for him.

He stood right in front of her. He didn't exactly expect that response, but he wasn't surprised. In her eyes he was sloppy as hell, not covering his tracks at all. But in his mind they couldn't be safer. No one would believe the old lady even if she saw anything, no one would miss the kid and their position was completely shut off from the rest of the world. August knew they were safe and used this reassurance to let himself go a bit. He missed being able to hunt like this, playing with his prey. It was a natural instinct and one he suppressed as much as possible. But every now and then he would let go...

He smiled smugly, shrugging his shoulders and walking backwards a few steps. "If you're the one who wrote the rules, you're the one who knows how to bend them." he spoke casually. It was clear he wasn't bothered in the slightest. And why would he be? He was the one who almost plunged the supernatural world into war with humanity in his first millennium of being a vampire and he was the one who rectified that mess in his second. How his name could be forgotten so easily is a mystery he couldn't solve.

The wind shifted and the breeze blew towards him through the alley. It was feint at first, but the more he focused the more he realised what was pumping through Serenity's veins. He stiffened up and his smile disappeared. His nose twitched a little as he sniffed the air. Her scent was...potent. Even more so than Emily's. He had managed to go days without tasting her blood and he thought that he was getting off how addicting her blood is. But now here he was again, his eyes glowing as he focused in on Serenity. He could hear her heart beating and he could see the blood rushing through her neck. He let out a sharp breath before finding words. "Serenity...please...mask your scent." he spoke as he pinched his nose shut, but his tongue could still taste her.

Once again he was losing control.

He took a step forward but stopped. He wanted to hold her down and drain her, just like he did with Emily. But he couldn't, not again. He blasted past her, upwind and away from her addictive blood. "Your blood. Cover your scent." he spoke as he stood a couple metres away from her, still pinching his nose.

Whether she would listen to him was a different story entirely.

Serenity was unimpressed by his nonchalant attitude of the situation. Even if he did write "the rules", time's had changed. Two thousand years have changed since those rules were made. And they were a lot more in danger of being spotted on someone's snapychatty or whatever the kids called their apps these days. Serenity wasn't exactly on the up and up with social media. But she herself was in a good enough disguise and not going full vampire on anyone. If anything, August would be the one being hunted down here.

Suddenly, August seemed disgusted by something. He pinched his nose and backed up, asking the white haired girl to cover her scent. She looked at him with a puzzled face, not at all understanding what he was saying. "Vwat are you? Did you say, my scent?"

August was looking at her with burning eyes and took a step forward towards her as if he couldn't control himself. He then rushed past her making her jump in surprise as the wing blew past her and he suddenly vanished. She turned around looking for him and wondered why he was on the other side of the alleyway now. He again asked her to cover herself, but this time explain that he was talking about her blood.

Now Serenity was getting the picture. He was thirsty, for her. Taking a step back out of fear, she raised both hands in front of her stomach and would form a holy ball of light. Just in case. Forgetting to speak in English as her fear overcame her, she would return to speaking in French. "Don't even think about it, Augustus! You control yourself! Now!" The ninja had no idea how to mask her scent, not without rubbing herself down in mud. Her aura, her presence, sure. But her literal smell? Not so much. There was no spell for that. Well, nothing without maybe a potion or something brewed in advance.

Serenity was scared. He smelled it as it swirled along with her blood. Like extra seasoning on a delicious steak. His eyes were blood red and he was losing the fight again. Blasted Huenes and their special blood.

She threatened him with a ball of light and told him to get a grip of himself in French. He replied with a snarl as he took another step back. He didn't want to do it. He needed to do something and fast. He looked around and blasted past her to the dumpster, digging through the trash and body parts. The pungent odour was enough to dull her scent, but he would have liked something better at least. He finally found a half empty can of deodorant and emptied the entire can on himself. The powerful smell and alcohol in the deodorant burned his nose, prompting a sneeze, but it worked. He took deep breaths, coughing on the fumes, as he tried to calm down. At least the deodorant was pretty nice. He might actually buy a can in the future.

His eyes returned to normal and all he could smell was the deodorant. He looked back at Serenity. "It's okay. I'm back, I'm back." he spoke through his breaths. He straightened himself out. "I'm sorry. I'm trying to get off it, I really am." he explained himself somewhat. But it will take a lot more than that to calm her down. Once again he felt like a junky. A pathetic addict that can't think of anything else other than their next high. He rested his back against the dumpster. "We can do something tomorrow or whenever. I'll teach you whatever...let's just go home." he held his head in his right hand as he waved his left at her. He was embarrassed and it was showing.

He held his hands up as if surrendering as he walked towards her. "We can fly or just take a cab. Your choice." he said nervously. Even when standing right in front of her, the deodorant was wreaking havoc on his nose. Thank goodness.

Again his blinding speed was used to rush past her. Serenity freaked for a second fearing he was coming for her. She shot the ball of light out as he tried to run past, narrowly escaping getting struck by the bolt. It hit the wall instead and caused a great flash and a large searing burn into the brick wall. Turning on her heel she backed up and formed another one, readying herself to toss it at him. Her eyes were full of fear and anger and she'd completely changed into a more battle ready mindset.

When she saw him digging through the trash she paused. And then nearly barfed. What could he possibly be looking for in there? After a second he found it, a can of aerosol deodorant which he then began spraying himself down with like he'd gotten infected by germs or something. Serenity was totally baffled. She just stood there holding that second ball of light wondering if August had lost his mind or something.

After a moment he claimed he was alright, and that he apologized for the sudden...whatever that was. Still, she wouldn't lower her weapon. He would try to stay on top of his desires but when he offered to train her again later she shook her head and tossed the second ball of light at his feet. Making sure he wouldn't come any closer, the light would explode like it did on the wall and leavy a nasty burn into the pavement. And him too if he didn't back up fast enough.

"No, Mousier August. We are done. I have nothing to learn from you. I will find my own way home."

Serenity would start to take a few steps backwards as she formed a third ball of light in her hands. She glared at him angrily, and then turned and rushed out of the alleyway with her speed and vanished into the night.

She fired a ball of light at his feet and August quickly stepped back. He doubted that his ring would defend against that. She was clearly still afraid. He wanted to say something to calm her down but she shut him down quickly enough. She refused his offer to take her home as well as his teachings. Strangely enough August was a little messed up about her words. He wasn't sure why. He didn't want to do it in the first place, but now that she just denied him he was feeling angry for some reason.

She disappeared into the night and August threw his arms into the air. "Fine! That's fine! Could do with a lot less Huenes in my life anyway!" he shouted after her, although he doubted that she would have heard him. He looked around, the deodorant still stinging his nose. He burst into his vampire form and shot up into the air. The smell only got worse in this form and August was getting more and more annoyed by the minute. Eventually after flying towards the ocean and practically drowning himself to clean himself off he made his way back home. He landed at the front door and turned into his human form.

It was past midnight and he was sure that Emily was asleep either on the couch or in bed. He quietly walked through the door and closed it behind him as quietly as possible. The TV and lights were still on, but Emily was fast asleep on the couch. Seeing her passed out on his couch instantly brought a smile to his lips. It didn't take much from her to cheer him up. He carefully picked her sleeping frame up and carried her off to bed. He stripped her into her undies to give her some comfort and tucked her into bed. The nights were getting cold, so he decided she could do with an extra blanket. When she was warmly tucked in he gave her a kiss on the forehead and turned all the lights off.

He ended up wrenching on his car, using only hand tools to keep his working quiet. He took the engine apart and fixed that problematic cylinder. By sunrise he closed the hood and washed the grease off his hands. Proud of his car being in tip top shape. Though that scratch was still on his fender. He would take that in to a body shop. But at least his engine would be purring once more. He didn't get around to a hearty breakfast this time around, but the coffee and toasted cheese and ham sandwich would be waiting for her.

It was the least he could do for neglecting her like that.

Upon entering his home the vampire would see that Netflix had gone to its idle screen, flashing different shows they were trying to promote every twenty seconds. Emily -to no surprise- was passed out with her head curled up into her arms on a pillow. August would come to scoop her up and she stirred in his arms. "How was training?" she would sleepily ask him without opening her eyes. Whatever his answer, she didn't hear it because she fell right back to sleep. She didn't even wake back up as he undressed her and tucked her into the covers.

When she woke up the next morning, she was slightly confused how she'd ended up in bed, but chalked it to his magical vampire speed; her memory of waking up when he came home was nonexistent. Getting out of bed she stripped off the remaining clothes she'd been in, found new undies, then stole one of his shirts to drape over her body. She could smell the coffee in the other room and would move like a zombie towards it. She paid attention to nothing else until she had that mug in her hand -the sugar mixed into the wake up juice- and was sipping it slowly.

"What time did you come home last night?" she would finally ask him.

August looked up and smiled as she entered the room, dressed in one of his shirts on less. He gave her a peck on the cheek and placed the sugar pot next to her mug in case she needed the extra energy. He took a seat across from her by the dining room table. "What time? Ummm..." he spoke deep in thought. He pulled out his phone to look at the time. Truth be told he had no clue.

"Past midnight or so. wasn't back too late." he said calmly, locking his phone and placing it on the table. He sat for a few seconds, staring at nothing in particular. "Although between you and me, I'd prefer if your mother gave a heads-up when she drops Huene blood under my nose." he remarked. That was not a fun experience. He swore he could still actually smell the deodorant on him...at least it didn't smell too bad. It'd been a while since he actually drunk from Emily and he was proud of it. Then that elf and her special blood had to ruin it. Thankfully he had a decent meal so he could hold out for a few days again.

It was always a delight waking up to August. She was sad in a way that he couldn't fall asleep with her, but at the same time grateful he was always there to make her breakfast. He was always ready with something, and a kiss on the cheek to wrap it all up. She hummed with a happy content while dropping four spoonfuls of sugar into her mug. She was feeling extra sluggish today, probably from all the pent up stress and worry that came along last night.

After asking how his night went August tried to remember, but at least affirmed her fear that it wasn't too late. She was still unsure of how she felt with her new boyfriend hanging around some other girl. Another vampire no less. She had every right to be worried and paranoid all night. She'd hoped the television would distract her; no dice. She wouldn't admit it to August, but she'd actually used a spell to make herself pass out. By no means had she been tired enough to do so on her own. She didn't want him worrying about her still being awake, nor did she want to think about the possibility of what the two of them had been doing out there on the prowl.

August would then mention something about Huene blood which made Emily look up at him with a confused glance. "What about my blood now?"

August looked up at her slightly confused before realizing what she meant. "Oh! No, not your blood specifically." he said with a slight chuckle, realizing his bad choice of words. "Your mother's blood. Or more specifically Serenity's. I was about 5 seconds away from draining her. The scent caught me completely off guard...and I think it was even stronger than normal." he spoke calmly, but appearing to be slipping into his own thoughts as he thought it over.

His eyes snapped back at Emily out of his trance, giving her a smile. "Sorry, vampire problems. Not sure how to explain it to you." he gave a nervous chuckle. "So what were you up to the whole time while I was out?" he moved the conversation away from last night's issues. At least he gave Serenity a good enough scare, so chances of her coming back were slim.

Sleep was not on her side. Emily's brain felt sluggish. She looked at him with a slow look in her eyes that clearly she was taking longer to process that information. He explained that he wasn't meaning her blood but her mothers. And then said he almost drained her. That...worked like a wake up call. Her head instantly went to him biting her. The fact that he didn't "drain" her, did not at all say he didn't "bite" her. Or drink her blood. His word choice basically explained he had indeed drank from her and was five seconds away from almost killing her by draining her completely, like he'd done to her. That's where Emily's head went.

"Oh," she'd reply at the end of that. "Sure. Vampire problems. Yeah." Sipping her cup again she tried to hide her angst when he asked her what she'd been up to while he was out making sucking faces with that other woman. She stood up and grabbed her cup, "I'm going to go shower." Her voice was cold again, and clearly upset about something.

August was taken back by her sudden change in mood as well as her suddenly excusing herself. "Emily? What's wrong?" his tone rather confused as he watched her disappear. He sat in his spot for a few seconds, then struggled to suppress the smile forming on his lips. She was at it again. And just like last time he had no clue what he said wrong this time. Unlike last time, however, he knew running away might not be the best choice.

He sat in his spot, waiting for the water to start flowing with a wide smile on his lips. Even after all this time, a woman's mind was something he didn't understand at all. When the water started he stood up and used the sound to mask his approach. He took his shoes off in the room and sneakily sneaked into the bathroom...only he wasn't moving on the floor. He used his vampiric feet and claws to hold onto the ceiling and beams against the roof, moving slowly and quietly until he was hanging upside down right behind her, his face in line with her shoulder blades and chest were she to turn around.

After a few seconds of spying and trying to listen whether or not she would sulk about it with herself, he broke his perfect stealth. "Emily, what did I say this time?" he spoke gently, folding his arms over his chest and taking a relaxed pose as if he were standing upright.

"Nothing," she lied. "Don't worry about it."

Moving to the shower she would phase out of his shirt simply by lack of effort she wanted to perform. Had her wings been out she would have been forced to do it. This was easier. She started the water and waited a minute for it to warm up before stepping in and resting her head into it. She pulled her hair back after a minute and then let it run down her neck so that it wouldn't get into her face. She said nothing, she just groaned and dealt with it in her mind.

And then August spoke. Emily shot around so fast her feet slipped on the ceramic tiles, "WHAT-THE-F*CK!" Luckily, August was right there to grab her and save her from breaking her leg. Her heartbeat shot up by nearly tripling in speed for a few minutes. As he held her, she gripped his arms as tightly as she could, which meant her nails pushed into his skin. "August, what the shit! What are you-why are you-The f*ck!? Why are you upside down?" Emily fixed her footing before letting go of him and leaning against the back of the shower wall.

She screamed in surprise at his presence and spun around, nearly falling over. He caught her arms and held her tight to make sure she wouldn't fall over. Her nails dug into his skin but he didn't even flinch. He simply 'stood' and held onto her upside down. She freaked out a bit further, not able to connect the dots at all in her mind. He couldn't blame her. No one ever made sense of it. He snickered a bit at her fit and released her when she regained her footing. "What? I thought I'd drop in and check up on you. See what's wrong." he replied innocently, 'walking' forward and raising his body to bring his face to level with hers with only a few inches between them in a very, very spectacular display of core strength and athleticism.

The beam above them groaned a bit under the strain but it stood strong. His eyes were filled with concern for her and with a tilt of his head he placed his hands against the sides of her shoulders, his thumbs affectionately rubbing her biceps. "Come on Emily, talk to me." he spoke gently once more. The shower was raining down on them both, drenching his shirt and making it melt against his suspended core muscles holding him level with her.
