Ando Prime, a cold world and home to the Dark Jedi of the Bogan. A snowstorm was raging outside, but even inside it was cold. The Dark Side had tainted the temple and its environment and the Dark Jedi wandering around the hallways reflected this. Among these Dark Jedi was a rather tall cloaked figure, muscular and broad-shouldered. His face was hidden under a black hood, but one could easily tell he was looking for someone. Today he would begin training an acolyte to the rank of Crusader.

Finally the strong Kiffar saw her: Katarn Cabaoth, a young female acolyte who seemed to be strong in the Force. The Kiffar approached the young woman and when he stood before her, he towered over her. He pulled down the black hood and revealed his face: his red, tainted eyes, his long black dreadlocks and the tattoo across his face. To many outside the Dark Jedi Order, he would have looked fearsome.

"Katarn Cabaoth, isn't it?" He asked. His voice was deep and calm. Though if one would have listened closely, they would have heard the hidden anger that was boiling within him. It was the Dark Side that was coursing through his veins. "I am Koran Mak, as of now a Crusader but I will be a Master Assassin soon. I am your master, follow me."

Without waiting for a reply, he pulled the hood up again and turned around. Assuming she would follow, he walked through the hallways and corridors until they reached a training room where they could train in private without being disturbed by other Dark Jedi.

Koran opened the door and stepped inside. He walked to the center of the room and took off his cloak, revealing the black sleeveless shirt, black pants and black boots he was wearing underneathe the cloak. He threw the cloak into the corner and turned around to face his new student. He crossed his muscular arms and his red-bladed lightsaber could be seen clipped to his belt, a big impressive hilt.

"Welcome to Ando Prime, acolyte Katarn. Like I said, I am Koran Mak. Have a seat," He gestured towards a couple of chairs in the corner nearby a square wooden table. "we will start with the boring, but important part of the training. I need you to tell me about yourself. About your past, how you got to the Dark Jedi and why you sought us out. As master and apprentice, we will be keeping no secrets for one another."

Koran walked over to the chairs and sat down himself, waiting for Katarn to sit and tell her story.

Katarn sat at the table, metal winding around her leg felt strange when she sat, but she had decided on the lightwhip and intended to stick with it.

"There is not much to say, urr, master." Katarn began. "I'm an assassin from corescant. I was forced to leave when my gang leaders boss died while on a mission with me. Since then I've been bouncing from dive to dive all over the galaxy, and thats where your man found me. I forget his name though I remember he had spiky hair. He offered me a chance to become something and, well, I haven't exactly had an easy time of it so far, doubt that will change any time soon. Figure I might as well be ready for it. Jedi don't seem to like assassins, so i doubt they'll train me to be better at killing, never really like the self righteous pricks anyways."

"So you see, I didn't really seek you guys out, but I'm not dumb enough to turn down an offer from you guys. Does that answer your questions?"

"It answers some of them," Koran replied. So this one was an assassin, Koran liked that. He was an assassin too. He clenched his stubble-bearded jaw and looked at her for a while. Was she strong enough to become a Dark Jedi, Koran asked himself. He figured he would find out soon enough, and if she would not be strong enough, if she would break, then she would die and it wouldn't matter anyway.

"But I have another question. Do you, Acolyte Katarn, realize what you are getting yourself into? Are you ready to embrace the Dark Side and all of it's power?"

It was then when he noticed the weapon she carried. The whip.

"Forget what I just said. First, I want to see that weapon of yours and tell me where you got it."

Koran had never seen a lightwhip before, and he was surprised to see his apprentice wielding one. He had read about the weapons, though, and he had seen holographic images. He just wondered if she was able to use it effectively, but he figured she had to be able to use it, otherwise she wouldn't carry it.

Katarn nodded, standing and shaking it off her leg, she still hadn't gotten the removal quite down yet, and gave it to her master. "When I was brought into the temple, I was asked what weapon I wished to use. I had read all the data on the various types on my way here, so I asked for the whip. It seemed the most unique, and since I didn't know any of the weapon styles, I thought I might as well give myself the edge of having an unusual one. Apparently there are several, just no one ever asks."

((OOC: What kind of lightwhip do you have? A standard whip with just one energy blade or like this?))

Koran took the weapon in his hands and examined the hilt. After looking at it for a few moments he handed it back to his new pupil.

"Impressive," He said. "It is a unique weapon indeed. When we're doing a sparring match I shall use a training lightsaber while you use a normal whip instead of a lightwhip. I don't want you to cut off my limbs while sparring. I've never fought against one wielding a whip, so I'll have to get used to it. Looks like you are going to teach me something: how to defend against a whip.

"But," Koran went on. "I will also teach you how to use normal lightsabers. This because it's the signature weapon of Jedi and Dark Jedi and you are ought to know how they work."

Koran rose up from his seat and walked to the center of the room. There he crossed his muscular arms again and turned to face Katarn.

"I have another question for you. Do you have any experience with the Force? Do you know any of the so-called Force Powers? If not, we shall begin with meditation and we will awaken the Force inside you. Once that's done, the real training will begin." - His red eyes lit up slightly as he spoke out that last sentence. The training would be intense, hard and maybe even dangerous, but after this training Katarn would be a full-fledged Crusader.

OOC: I imagine it more along the lines of a vibrowhip (single whip) that emits the lightsaber energy. so it is a full fledge whip, but it can be activated to emit light, that's why she wraps it around her leg. while working with my last master, we also decided it would be great if in her other hand she did use a blade (for blaster pistols), finally, she doesn't realize the force powers she has are force powers.

IC:

Katarn wrapped the whip around her leg again and activated the magnetic clamp in her leg. When she finished she explained to her master. "To be honest I don't know if I have any force powers. I mean, I've only once messed up a mark, and that was my partners fault. Things always seem to slow down right before a shot, and I always know what card to discard in sabaac. But I don't know if thats force power."

"Oh, I also heard that the whip was hard to block blasterbolts with, so I grabed a blade at the armory as well."

((OOC: Alright, that's cool ^^ ))

"I permit you to use this lightsaber you have taken from the armory for the time being. However, you will construct your own lightsaber as part of your training. Every Jedi or Dark Jedi should know how to construct such a weapon, because it is considered basic knowledge. It is also one of the final tests to conclude your training.

"And the situations you just mentioned, the sabaac game and the shooting, I believe it has to do with the Force indeed. Interesting," He clenched his bearded jaw and tilted his head slightly to the left as he thought about that. After a while he continued: "apparently you use the Force by instinct. There aren't many people who are capable of doing that. Sit, acolyte Katarn. It is time for you to tame the Force that is already flowing through your veins."

Koran Mak sat down cross-legged and waited for her to do the same.

"We shall meditate." He said. "Tell me when you are ready, and I shall take you on an incredible spiritual journey..."

Koran took a deep breath before beginning to speak. He had done this before, but it was still one of the hard things of the training, especially for the master. All the acolyte had to do was listen, but the master had to guide.

"Close your eyes," Koran spoke. His voice sounded a lot calmer and it was almost a whisper. "Close your eyes and breathe slowly." He continued. "Focus on my voice and nothing else. Let me guide you through the process. Let my voice be the only thing you hear.

"Imagine this planet, Ando Prime," he went on. "and think of this temple. Strip away it's walls, it's roof and remove this temple from Ando Prime in your imagination. Then continue to erase the snow of Ando Prime, stop the storm outside, erase the mountains and finally, erase the planet. What remains is a void.

"A black empty void, and you are all alone. Drifting into nothingness," Koran continued. "You can't see, because it is too dark to see. You can't feel anything, because suddenly your limbs go numb. You can't hear... No, you don't hear my voice. What you think you hear, is in your mind. A whisper through the Force."

Koran did not speak anymore, but instead he used Force Telepathy to whisper his words of guidance in Katarn's mind.

"In this void, where nothing can exist, somehow exists warmth. It is so subtle, you barely notice it, but it is there. It is gently stroking your skin, but because your limbs are numb you can't feel it. But then it slowly enters your body, enters your veins and you become aware of its presence. A warmth that can't exist, but for some mystical reason does exist. Now you can move again. You can move your legs, your arms. But still you don't see anything and you can't hear. You are still all alone in the void...

"Now listen, Katarn, listen closely. A beautiful singing, so clean, so clear. Can you hear it? It is as if it comes from the other side of the galaxy. It is so soft you can barely hear it. In this void where sound can't exist, exists a beautiful enchanting singing. It is like an angel. Listen to it, and let the sound fill your ears. Now you can hear. But still you are blind and all alone in the void.

"Concentrate Katarn, don't let go of your focus. You are still trapped in the black empty void. But in the distance a light is glowing. It is so faint you overlooked it, but it is truly there, even though it can't exist in a void. Fix your grey eyes upon it and try to move towards it. The closer you get, the brighter it begins to glow and finally you are so close you can touch it. Do this, and let the blinding light shine into your eyes. Yes, it is so bright it should blind you, but yet it doesn't do that. Embrace the light and finally... Finally you can see.

"Now take a look around you," Koran continued. "Take a look at the world that came to existence. You are standing on top of a huge mountain and you are surrounded by vast oceans, jungles, deserts and plains. Behold this magnificent world. And you are not alone anymore. Turn around and there it is, your new companion, your slave. Watch the figure as it reaches out its hands towards you. Take its hands in yours and take a step closer. Embrace it, and don't let go.

"Finally, Katarn, you have awakened. You have regained all of your senses, yet you can sense so much more now. You have awakened to the paradox...

"The paradox that is the Force. Open your eyes now."

Koran opened his and waited for her to open hers. Then he spoke with his normal voice, and not through the Force: "Overwhelming isn't it? To suddenly feel such a power flowing through your veins. To suddenly be aware of what was inside you all along. How does it feel?"

Katarn felt everything as her master described it. It filled her, encompassed her, overwhelmed her, and destroyed her all at once. She fell backward onto her back before she opened her eyes, hitting her head on the metal floor. She bounced back up instantly grabbing the back of her head. "Owwwww." She moaned before see her masters face. She instantly composed herself, only to jump up in excitement pacing the room.

"That was amazing! Simply amazing! I've never felt anything so amazing in all my life! And your right, I can feel everything around me now. The metal of the walls, the people in the rooms below, the guy in his room..." Katarn broke off, a sickened expression on her face. She collapsed to the ground, holding her mouth, though nothing came out. That particular feeling had calmed her down though.

She suddenly remembered where she was and faced her master in a kneeling bow position, her head touching the dura-steel. "I'm sorry master."

Koran merely looked at her with an emotionless face. When she bowed before him to apologize he did not say anything at first. He remained in his sitting position and watched her. Then he finally said:

"Sit down, my apprentice. And feel the Force flow through you, calm yourself. I want you to take a good look around the room, then close your eyes. You won't need eyes to see, if you have the Force. Command the Force to see for you, imagine that blinding light in the void. Call upon it, and tell me what you see. Describe this room and it's objects."

Katarn sat down crosslegged again, she felt out with the force, but trying to control it to just this room.

"I can feel the steel walls breathing, the strength of the wooden table and chairs, the stale air going into the recyclers." She could feel the whole room and everything in it, every particle of matter, she had never even imagined anything on this scale.

"Good," Koran said, "now reach out in the Force. In the corner there is a chest, search for it through the Force. Inside is a metal orb. Reach out in the Force and command it to open that chest for you. Then let the orb slowly float towards you. Feel free to experiment with this, let the orb fly through the room if you can. This is so you become more accustomed with the Force."

This lesson was one that was thought to Koran, almost thirty years ago, but he still practiced it often. He watched Katarn intently and wondered if she would be able to accomplish the task already.

Katarn felt out with the force, finding the chest. Inside it was the orb her master had mentioned. She lifted the lid, feeling it open in her mind. She grabbed the orb, pulling it out of the box, she prepared to pull it towards her when it suddenly fell towards the ground, she redoubled her effort and grabbed it just before it touched the ground. Lifting it back to the same height she pulled it towards her until it was between her and her master.

"Yes, well done." Koran said. "Guide the orb, let it descend slowly until it touches the ground. When you succeeded, you may open your eyes again."

Step by step the excersises would get harder and the farther they progressed in the training the more difficult the new powers would be. It was a good thing she already had some experience with the Force. It might not have been anything special - sabaac, shooting - but it did help.

Katarn slowly lowered the ball, only almost dropping it once. When it touched the ground she opened her eyes and looked at her masters face.

Koran stood up once Katarn was finished and used telekinesis to let the orb float into his right hand. He brought it back to the chest and shut the chest. He walked back to the center of the room, where Katarn still sat, and said: "I recommend that you repeat this exercise often, so telekinesis will get easier and easier for you. You may rise now."

He would wait until Katarn would have stand up before asking her: "Is everything clear so far? You might have questions, and if you do you may ask now. If not, we will continue with the training. A sparring match. But I will explain all that when we get to it."

"Yes, I assume you are." Koran said as he stood up.

He walked past Katarn towards a weapons rack nearby the table. He took two small cilinders from the rack and walked back towards his student. He held one of the weapons out to her while he kept one himself.

"These are Training Lightsabers. They can't cause any serious damage, just minor burns. The reason I won't let you use your whip yet, is because I want to teach you the basics of lightsaber combat first. This is so you have a better understanding of dueling."

After he would have handed the saber to Katarn he stepped back and ignited his own training saber. Its yellow blade came to life with a hum and immediately faintly lit the room.

"Those who've never wielded a saber before will be surprised to find all the weight of the weapon in the hilt. Therefore it might be a little uncomfortable in the beginning, but you'll get used to it soon enough. Don't get too excited or impatient - we will get to the whip in due time. Just not yet."

Koran raised his saber and took a few steps back. He looked past the blade of pure energy to Katarn and said: "Unless you have questions before we get started, I want you to attack me a couple of times. Use only horizontal slashes and I will block. That's all you got to do. We will keep doing this for a while until I say stop. Ready?"
