((if you don't mind, I'll copy this bit from when my last mentor asked me this question.))

Katarn instantly quoted back to him, from memory, what she had read from the datapad on her way onto the station.

"All life is suffering. Until you accept this fact, you will never understand anything. Accept the suffering your life will bring. Allow it to motivate you, anger you."

"If the Jedi have been plagued by one thing since their creation it has been indecisiveness. They fail to react. They only want to contemplate. When it is time to act the Jedi only want to mediate in their ivory towers. We demand you to act swiftly, not wait on guidance from the Force. Failure to react is a failure to act. Do what you know is right."

"The dogmatic Jedi would have you believe you can become content, serene, but we know this is a lie. We creatures are not above the need for emotion, for passion. Instead of repression, we only ask that you use your emotions to fuel your power, to guide you."

"There is no will of the Force. The universe is chaos. Life is made of random actions that create who we are. Beings cannot be harmonious with one another because they are, in essence, animalistic creatures driven by instinct. Do not avoid this. Use chaos to further your aims and your powers, for chaos brings darkness to existence."

"Death is all around us. It is a part of everything, as everything dies. Denying this is denying the meaning of ourselves and the truth to existence: there is no life. We are fleeting creatures in a universe as meaningless as an unused plow. Whatever we are, whatever our meaning, we imbue it; there is no cosmic plan. Either live well or die swift; do not contemplate the afterlife, for that gives way to stagnation. Instead, use your power to its fullest, for there is no reward waiting for those pure of heart."

Koran nodded to her and said: "I believe you're ready for a challenge. You now possess the knowledge a Crusader should have, but it is time to prove you are worthy of being a Crusader. I have a mission for you."

He paused for a while and looked at her. This mission would be something dangerous and she could get killed, but the life of a Bogan always was dangerous so that did not really mean a thing.

"Zeltros, home to the Zeltron people and a place of fun and games. A place where you must kill someone. In the capital of Zeltros you must locate a Zeltron smuggler. He is a former Jedi Padawan, but a couple of years ago the Force failed him and he became a smuggler for the Republic. Recently he stole a holocron from us which contains precious information about our Order. We sent Crusaders to deal with him, but apparently he has killed every assassin thus far. All we know is that he fled to Zeltros and that he is still there, but his exact location is unknown to us. We have spies watching him.

"Your objective is simple: find him, kill him, retrieve the holocron. Kill every witness who might possibly be there and get out of Zeltros before they find out a Dark Jedi was there. A silent assassination would be best. The Zeltron carries a heavy blaster pistol and an old fashioned slugthrower pistol, which slugs are pretty much unblockable. He is fairly good at swordplay because of his Jedi past and it is known that he still uses a lightsaber in tough duels. Although he isn't able to use the Force anymore, he might be a tough opponent. Watch out for his pheromones. His name is Rick Dantir."

The Kiffar raised his left hand and one of the many chests in the room opened. A datapad floated out of the chest and landed in front of Katarn.

"This datapad," Koran said, "contains information about the mission so you won't forget things. Any questions before you go?"

((OOC: I will start the mission thread in the Story section once we've finished this conversation. I will NPC Rick Dantir the Zeltron. After the mission we will return to this training thread. I'll PM you when the mission thread is up.))

"No questions sir." Katarn responded. "I will find him. And he will meet his end."

"No," Koran said, "you aren't going to Coruscant and you won't let others help you track your target. You will go to Zeltros and you will start digging yourself. Ask around in cantinas, spaceports, markets, anything. The only ally in your search will be the Force and if you ask around enough you will eventually get to him. Or he will get to you, if you manage to draw his attention. Go now, acolyte, and prove your worth."

((OOC: On to the mission! =D I'll start that thread right away))

((OOC: This section of the training thread takes place after the covert mission.))

Koran Mak sat in the middle of the training room in a cross legged position. His eyes were shut and his face was shrouded under the black hood of his black robe. He was meditating.

The Force had told him a familiar person had returned to the Temple and so he expected Katarn to have accomplished her mission succesfully. The mission was dangerous, but with the right plan and strategy one could find an easier way to complete it. Koran wondered how she had completed her mission and he would evaluate it with her first when she would return to the training room.

Katarn entered the training hall, once again in her battle fatigues. The dresses were nice for missions, but these were so much more practical. She approached her master, going into a kneeling bow once she reached him. She waited fo him to acknowledge her befor she continued, after all, she did not want to disturb him with such a trivial thing as her report.

He looked up and glanced at her from under his black hood. Then he rose to his feet and he said: "You're back. The first to return..."

He took off the hood and crossed his arms, looking at her all the time. His face was still stern, like it always was.

"Tell me what you've seen, heard and what you've done. Give me a full report and don't leave out any details. I will know if you're lying, so don't even try to lie to me."

Then he was silent and waited for her to speak up.

Katarn nodded. "When I got to the planet I went to one of the local bars and began to ask around for the target. I quickly located an associate of the targets. I was able to convince him that I was a former jedi looking to meet the target because I had a crush on him. Once I met the target I began to seduce him until he trusted me enough to allow me into his quarters with not protection. I then broke his neck, defeated his jedi guard, and as an added bonus, I was even able to recover the holocron so we won't have to go through this again with another target."

Katarn drew the holocron from a pouch and presented it to her master.

Koran extended his hands and accepted the holocron from her hands. He examined it carefully and when he made sure it was the right one, he bowed to her with the holocron in his hands. The bow was a sign of respect and a sign he did not give to many. Then he turned and set the holocron aside on the table.

Turning back to her he said: "A Jedi guard? We didn't know about that. You did well, Katarn. Is there anything you wanted to ask, or any additional techniques you still wanted to learn? Or do you think you're ready for something big."

"There will always be more to learn." Katarn's thoughts drifted to summoning up gaint waves of lightning that took out whole armies like in the old holodramas she had watched as a kid. "But if you feel I'm ready, then I guess I am."

((OOC: What! I forgot about Lightning! :S))

"You have what it takes to be a Crusader," Koran told her. "You are ready. But there is one thing I wanted to teach you."

He held up his right hand, with his hand palm up, and blue lightning began to crack around his hand. For a moment, if one paid close enough attention, it looked like Koran's eyes lit up with Dark Side energy.

Then he clenched his hand to a fist again and the lightning disappeared. He was silent for a while and a few moments later the door to the training room slid open and two Crusaders dragged a young slave inside. A young boy whose life was a misery. Koran had used Force Telepathy to contact the Crusaders and so he summoned them.

The Crusaders walked out the moment they had tossed the slave inside and Koran smiled slyly. He gestured at the boy who was now crying and said: "This boy was a Jedi Padawan. We caught him some time ago on Manaan. He tried to escape us, but we stopped him and now he must die. Look at this pathetic son-of-a-gizka. He's not worth anything!

"Gather your hatred, Katarn. Close your eyes and return to the void, to the mountaintop where it all started. Look up to the skies above and watch the clouds, watch lightning cracking and feel the storm coming up. Rip this lightning out of the sky and hold it in your hands, then unleash it upon this lad and UTTERLY DESTROY HIM!"

Katarn watched the lightning spring from his hand in awe. She saw as it split the air. When asked to do the same she gathered the force around her, but did not draw on her anger, it had been too much of a give away on the mission, she would need to cut down on its use if she wanted to blend into the crowd, at least until she learned to conceal her presence. She instead drew on the energy of the boy in question. Using his own fear to power her attack. The air parted around her hand, and tiny tendrils apearred. Not as thick or as long as her masters had been, but then again, she was no master yet. They did the job well enough though as they lanced out spearing the boy through the heart. A small burnt hole appeared where the lightning had struck, the boy fell limp, dead as a doornail.

Katarn looked at her hand that had just taken a life, not with shame, but with pure glee. She had summoned lightning. She may not be able to destroy rooms like in the holodramas, but she could still kill. A wide smile spread across her face as she began to summon arcs of energy and play with it in her hands. After a couple seconds she realized what she was doing and bowed to her master, awaiting his next instruction.

Koran was sastisfied.

"Now you have all you need to go out into the galaxy and complete missions in name of the almighty and dark Bogan. You have done well, Katarn."

A crimson energy blade, thick and powerful, ignited from his impressive lightsaber hilt and it faintly lit the room. He raised the weapon slightly and said to her one simple word.

"Kneel."

Katarn lowered herself to her knee, her hair falling down around her face, she did not look up despite the threat of the nearby blade. She would show her trust in her master.

Koran raised his saber and held it right above her left shoulder. "Katarn Cabaoth," he said and he moved his saber to her right shoulder. "Hereby I grant you," finally holding the lightsaber right above her head. The blade never touched her of course. "The rank of Crusader of the Bogan. Serve the Order well and great rewards shall come to you."

He retracted his weapon and deactivated it.

"You may rise," he said. "Welcome to the Dark Side."

((OOC: I'll see to it you're officially given the rank of Crusader.))

((awesome, but, one final thing))

Katarn rose, her demeanor calm, only to break a second later as she hugged her now former master, pecking him on the cheek quickly before pulling away and bowing. "Thank you, master."

((I've been wanting to do that since I made this character when I first joined all those monthes ago. she was always supposed to be the easily excited and aroused variety of bogan))

((OOC: Haha! I suppose I'll just write Koran's reaction, just for fun.))

Koran was slightly surprised when she did that and blinked a couple of times. The serious and stern Crusader really hadn't expected Katarn to react like this. For a few seconds a memory entered his mind, reminding him of the days before he completely fell to the Dark Side. A faint smile appeared on his face and he failed to suppress it.

"You deserve it," he said to her.

((yay! after 5 months I can finally be as active with Katarn as I am with nuka! now to get katarn to a master equivalent status...))

Katarn almost skipped out of the room, she was off. Off to a darker future. How long would her innocence remain in this cruel world, only time would tell.
