The training of Ksilas Kai....

[Horizon]

Joshua thought of what to say next. His first padawan and she acts like she knows more about the Force than he does! Scratching his head he didint know what to realy say.....

"You reached out with the Force did you not? We dont encourage emotions as Jedi. They tend to have bad outcomes...." Joshua paused momentarily thinking back to his childhood....


"Emotions can fuel the Force. But just think if you gave it too much.
Also I have learned something from you. You are correct to question.
Therefore I now have my own questions I will ask my former Master."
Joshua stretched his arms and yawned for a moment. It was getting late and he was keeping up his new pupil therefore she would be tired in the morning..

"I will see you in the morning." Joshua went back to his own quarters to rest up for the morning lesson....

Ksilas woke up that morning feeling great. The room where she was placed was small, but enough room to be comfortable, with a couple drawers for her clothes and such to be folded and put away. She clambered out of bed, changed into the sandy colored Padawan robes she'd been given, and gave Kailiak a few swift strokes. ksilas repacked her bag, leaving her blaster, the leaves, but keeping the hilt of what appeared to be one of the glowing weapons, icase they needed it. She left Kailiak here this time, and set off again for the garden, hence not have been given a place to meet. Ksilas while waiting, basked in the sun...

 

[Horizon]

Walking into the gardens Joshua took a deep breath of the beautiful morning air and was excited for another day,s lesson. Seeing his new student Joshua waved her on over to follow him. Joshua proceeded out of the gardens and torwards the sparring room. Today Joshua had his lightsaber with him aswell as his training saber.....


Entering the sparring room Joshua knew there wouldnt be very many people in the morning which was rather good for todays lesson.
Joshua sat down upon the cold hard floor and rested for a moment untill his student arrived....

Ksilas followed Joshua into the room, and noticed he was holding two gleaming silver hilts. She grabbed hers, then proceeded, hilt in hand, over next to where he was sitting. She had a feeling about what they were going to do, but she offered him a weak smile anyways. She waited to see if her suspicions were confirmed...

 

[Horizon]

Joshua gave his student a small grin and began to speak with with a slight gentle tone...
"Today you will begin your lightsabsaber training."
Using the Force, Joshua pulled the saber from her hand and gently placed it in his own. "Now. Im going to give you a choice on two types of styles you may learn to use with your saber. The first is Ataru. An acrobatic form in which jumps and other athletic moves are integrated into the style in which you fight with. The other is Djem so. It uses defence as its means to turn an enemies attack into your advantage. Along with it being able to deflect blaster bolts." Now he waited for the padawans response as to how todays lesson would plan out...

She could hear Joshua talking to her, but just barely after he pulled the hilt from her hand. She kind of stood there shocked for a moment then listened to what she could hear. "Im going to give you a choice on two types of styles you may learn to use with your saber..." After he stated his question, she thought for a moment. First, she was a trandoshan, and not the most agile. Second, deflecting blaster bolt was a useful skill. Third, and when thinking this she shuddered, It might keep her from being lost in the predatory rage that had consumed her when she was attacking the Vornskr. Ksilas gave a low smile. this was one of the times that she hoped her master wasn't peering into her thoughts.

"I think I will try the second option master." she said.

Lets hope that this goes well, she thought grimly.

 

[Horizon]

"Very good." Joshua placed the lightsaber back in her hand and stood up and walked a couple feet away. Turning back to Ksilas, Joshua placed his hand ontop of the training saber tightly secured upon his belt and quickly unclipped it from his side. Igniting the saber Joshua stood in Djem So stance although Ksilas wouldnt know what he was doing at the moment.
"Now I want you to stand like this."

 

[Celestialvortex]

The Illumination! The bright blade sprung forth from one of his own hilts, what she now knew were lightsaber hilts, and he took up a stance. Memories flew through her mind like stampeding male nerfs, and although he had told Ksilas to take up the position he was standing in, she stayed where she was, paralyzed by fear; her eyes never leaving the luminous blade; the saber of her own had already fallen onto the polished floor.

 

[Horizon]

Turning off his own saber Joshua was worried about his student.
Indeed this wasint a good sign....
"Ksilas are you alright? Is there something bothering you?"
Asked Joshua in an overly worried tone.....

 

[Celestialvortex]

She held her pose for a moment, then the shadow of where the lightsaber had been dissapeared. She shook her head, and managed a smile. "Yeah... I think I'm okay..." She managed to choke that out through the barricade of emotions and thoughts and memories. She chuckled inwardly. So this is why we don't encourage the use of emotions. Hahaha. But even though humor had poked through, she sat down. No matter what she said or tried to convince herself to feel:
It was too much...

 

[Horizon]

Joshua sat down beside her and pondered what was realy wrong with her...
He pursed his lips and took a deep breath and slowly exhaled not knowing what to do. "So uh...You want to tell me what caused that?"
Perhaps it was the blade but he didint realy know what to make of it right now.....

She sighed. Perhaps she should tell him her life story. Or what was recorded of it. Everything else was hopeless. Like her. She almost slapped herself for being a pessimist and even thinking of her last comment. Ksilas reached into her bag and pulled out a small computerized file, and a holopad. She placed the file in the pad, then handed it to Joshua.

She then picked herself up and awaited her orders, or prepared herself to ask questions.

 

[Horizon]

"I dont think we will have an issue like that here. Or with me for that matter."Joshua gave Ksilas a warm smile and stood up and bowed before her momentarily as an act of kindness. "Now this time I want you to ignite your saber first and well see what do next."

 

[Celestialvortex]

Ksilas bent down and picked up her saber, all three of her talons on that hand sweated. Cautiously, she closed her eyes, and flicked the button on her training weapon...

 

[Horizon]

Joshua ignited his aswell and began to speak slowly trying not to spark another incident...
"Now stand in the position and try to bend the force into calming you. Focus on nothing but me and you..."

 

[Celestialvortex]

Ksilas breathed in and out.

The Force.... *inhale* Is with me *exhale*
The Force.... *inhale* Is with me *exhale*
The Force.... *inhale* Is with me *exhale*
The Force.... *inhale* Is with me *exhale*

Slowly, She began to clam down enough as to not freak out at the blade in her hands. She opened her eyes...

To see a weapon in her hands!!!!
Grra!!!
She squeezed them shut again, but was faintly aware of the humming of the blade.

The Force.... *inhale* Is with me *exhale*
The Force.... *inhale*...

After a few rounds of this, Ksilas, still trembling, looked over torwards her master for further instructions...

 

[Horizon]

"Good job." Joshua held out his own blade in hand and had a tight grip on it.
"Now strike my blade." Joshua closed his eyes and awaited his student to carry out the task he had given her...

 

[Celestialvortex]

Ksilas had held her body in a stiff position; but she sighed and let the tension out. Her voice was low, yet audible when she spoke.




"When I gave you the Holopad; I tried to speak without words, Because the words hurt. Badly. You don't understand my story because you are going to continue. I freaked out at the lightsaber because It made me remember the Vornskr..."

She looked up.

"When I was hurt, or angry,( in this case both) I flew into a rage that consumed me till the danger was gone. Trandoshans are full of hunting and killing instincts, that they use; starting at birth. I didn't use those instincts; possibly because Koorbar was there watching over me with love. But they are still there, wrapped up in a tight little bundle, wating for the moment to turn me into a primeval beast."
She set her eyes into a fierce stare, then continued, barely audible:

"You may choose to continue the lesson, but beware should I become out of control... Decide now."

 

[Horizon]

Joshua sat there for a moment not knowing whether or not to heed her warning. Perhaps she plainly wasint ready. For saber training at least...

"I think this is when the Force truly comes into play in your life."
Said Joshua in smug tone..

Joshua sat himself done and rested his eyes. Slowly he took a deep breath and then suddenly exhaled.

"Meditation is one of the most useful tools to a Jedi. Try to exclude everything in this room but me and you...Only listen...."

As soon as Joshua ended his words he became silent....

((Trandoshans certainly are different. XD)

She was strangely calm now. She could see the heat of his body through her slightly infra-red vision capabilities, and she imagined how easy it would be to throw this lightsaber into his throat or heart.... NO! She pushed those thoughts back inside her. Between being completely afraid of weapons and trying to kill everyone in sight with them... She needed to control her emotions badly. Ksilas set herself back up into an easy breathing rhythm, and set down the lightsaber. She silenced her breath, even. This was like hunting. "Where was the prey?" her mind wondered, but she forced down those thoughts again. "Where was the prey?" er instincts asked again, persistant. She answered herself. The prey is in silence. The prey is in knowledge. The prey is in being quiet. Set yourself on this mindpath, you great lizard. The prey is waiting.
Now, with her silent breath, her eyes closed, only she existed. She had to remind herself that Joshua was there. She opened her ears, and listened.

( She is different for a trandoshan. A real trandoshan would be blade to blade in a duel to the death by now. :)
