Training of Alara K'Nalaar

Today is going to be a very different day than usual. Today, Thunger will be training a new padawan. Today should be a fun yet constructive day in the Jedi temple. It has been 20 years since Thunger has trained a padawan, it is about time to start again.

Multiple items lay scattered around the training room. They vary from pebles to bolders in size. Many would get the impression the room is a mess, but Thunger will use these items for training. Wooden swords, ship parts even a bolder like space rock will be items Thunger will use as training tools.

The force flows through Thunger's veins smoothly as he rests in the center of the room meditating with the Force. He sits 'criss cross' as he begins moving items around with his mind, out of bordom, as he awaits his new padawan.

A week past , since Alara first set foot on the surface of Dantooine. Within the halls of the Jedi Enclave , she had found understanding , compassion , but above all , a warm meal.

Only from travelers , has she heard about the mysterious "Jedi" and their so called - "Jedi Order". But not even in her wildest dreams , did she believe someone like her might be considered for training.

It took four solid days to finally choose a master for someone as old as she was , but that didn't matter to her. And today , was going to be the day she meets with her teacher for the first time.

While walking across the stone pathway towards the training room , she remembered how important first impressions were.

A solid stone door was blocking her entrance of the room. Before she tried knocking on it , the door slid open with ease. Behind the first obstacle was a man , sitting in the center of the room , surrounded by multiple objects , some of which where floating around him...

' Evening , sir. I'm Alara. Are you my master? '

As the new hopefull entered the room, the floating objects came to a hault, landing on the ground in a perfect circle gently. Thunger stood up to intorduce himself, removing his jedi hood revealing his somewhat scared face. Thungers voice was soothing and gentle, in an attempt to comfort his new padawan.

Hi, Alara! I have been waiting for you. Yes, I will be teaching you the ways of the Jedi.. You can call me Thunger by the way..

After his introduction, Thunger's voice became more serious and deepened some.

So Alara, what gave you the thought of becoming a Jedi? Are you familiar with the code?

It was experience that she felt , streaming from the figure in front of her. Someone who has obviously seen the wonders of the universe , someone who had a lot to show her.

' I am sorry , Thunger. The first time I saw an actual Jedi was only a couple of days ago. I know nothing of what it is to be one of your kind. Actually , I've never imagined that I might be able to feel what the others call "The Force". Two weeks ago , a man felt something in me and instructed me to come here and seek something .... I believe he intended me to train here.... But I'm not sure. '

Thunger's facial expression transformed from happy to somewhat puzzled. The Force in this girl is very strong and she knows nothing of it? However, the Force must have guided her to the order. There was a slight pause before replying to the Jedi hopefull as thoughts flowed through Thunger's mind..

Much is required to be a Jedi, Alara. You must live by a very strict code. If you become a Jedi, you are expected to dedicate your entire life to the order and follow the code. Run this code through your head and give me your definetion..
There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
There is no death, there is the Force

Tell me what this means to you and what is your opinion on having to live by this for the rest of your life.

There is no nice way to explain what it takes to become a Jedi. It requires tremendious dedication, and Thunger made that clear.

It was a lot of comprehend , all at once. In order to find an answer to her masters question , she had to search deep within her inner self. Alara was surprised to feel that she can delve within her own mind , to search for answers , to remember things long forgotten with such detail.... It was amazing how much she can achieve within the halls of this place , truly there was some greater power fueling it.

Minutes pasts , the girl remained silent and her eyes closed. Until finally she though the correct answer was prepared.

' My entire life so far has been nothing more then a delay of the inevitable , a race against death. For the first time I feel as if I belong , a part of something ... far greater then myself. When I left the planet , which I called home , I did so with such ease. There was nothing connecting me to that place , nothing personal and nothing material. Now , as then , there is nothing stopping me from devoting my entire life to a cause. '

A small pause was made. Alara took another deep breath and continued.

' My way of interpreting the Jedi code is this. A life of a jedi is stripped free of emotion , a life lived only to enrich and aid the lives of others. That is what I think of the code , Thunger. '

Thunger let a smile slip passed his lips as she spoke. The Force truly did bring her here, he can feel the Force pulling her closer to the Order. She has great potential, but she has no clue how strong she is with the Force... She just has to learn how to allow the Force to take over.

Our lives are dedicated to bringing peace and balance to the galaxy. Is this the right life for you, Alara? Do you want to become a Jedi?

There it was , the question she was aching to here. The few days revealed wonders , beyond her wildest imagination.

' Yes , masters. That is what I desire most. '

She finished the sentence with a bow.

Thunger let another smile slip passed his cheeks. He knew the padawan would say yes, he could feel it. It is amazing how the Force braught her here and she is still ignorant to the fact.

Well, first thing.. you have to understand the power of the Force. A Jedi gets their power from what we call the Force. The Force surrounds all and everything, but only few can actualy weild the power.
Do you understand, Alara?

'The Force? I've heard the others here talk about it. But I thought it was merely an expression , kinda like the "gods" different races worship. Is this "Force" something real?'

She glanced down at her hands , but there was no "Force" on them , nor around them. Surely he was speaking metaphorically.

 

[Iorthunger]

Thunger let out a friendly laugh, before replying to the padawan.

The Force is an invisable power that feeds the Jedi their strength. Without the Force a Jedi could not perform their abilities, or unique ways of concentration and focus.

With that said, Thunger turned towards the largest space rock in the room. Closing his eyes and extending his hand he began pushing the Force particles that flowed within him directly to his hand. With the motion of his finger tips he lifted the object allowing it the float around to room and dangle over the padawans head before sending it to the ground gently.

It was nothing short of a miracle , in the eyes of the young girl. Was it possible , that such beautiful power existed in this world? Was she also gifted with that ability , that mysterious thing called "The Force".

After witnessing what her master did , there was not a doubt left in her mind. Everything she had heard about the jedi and everything she saw , was true.

' That was amazing ... master. So I will learn how to control the force? How best to harness it's energy? When do we start the training ? '

Her usually calm self had changed , Alara was suddenly exited by all the possibilities that where ahead of her. She finally saw a future for herself.

Thunger got a look of concern on his face.. By her actions she seems excited to gain power, rather than to keep the peace. Questions begin to full Thunger's mind..

I'm not teaching you the ways of the Force for power. I'm teaching you because you want to keep the peace and dedicate your life to the Jedi order and with the Force on your side you will be sucuessfull.
Do i make myself clear?

Thunger's voice was no longer calm and soothing, but deeper and serious.

It took a solid minute for her to understand what went wrong. For only a moment , she became arrogant , lusting to unravel the mysteries of what was just shown to her.

' I understand. Forgive my ignorance , master. I wish to learn the ways of the force , in order to keep order and justice throughout the galaxy. '

 

[Iorthunger]

Thungers facial expressions remained stone like, for he was very serious when he spoke. Too many Jedi have fallen because of lust for power and Thunger will not allow that possability. However, Thunger can sense greatness with in Alara, not the usualy feeling of being around a Jedi hopefull. Alara was different than most, but in a positive way.

You have true greatness within you and greatness requires great responsibility. You can not focus so much on strength and power.. I will teach you how to become one with the Force allowing the Force to be your guide and judgement. Your actions will be the actions of the Force.

Power and abilities will have to wait, for you have much to prove.. young one.

Unlike most Jedi knights, Thunger will not teach power at first, especialy considering how much the padawan wants to possess such power. She will learn power after she proves herself dedicated to the order and the Jedi code. For now, Thunger will teach her how to allow the Force to take over and lightsaber forms.

Have you ever heard of a lightsaber, Alara?

Her once eager expression changed and once again her mind was calm and clear. The man in front of her was indeed wise. His words , filled with knowledge and understanding , of what she thought might be the force.

'Thank you for your belief in me , mas ... Thunger. I will learn the way you intend me to and I will not question your methods. Teach me , which ever way you see fit.'

What little she knew of the jedi , didn't include anything about such a thing called "lightsabre". She seemed curious and her expression spoke of the same.

'No , I have no heard about such a thing. What is this "lightsabre" , Thunger?'

Thunger's facial expression turned to normal, along with his voice. He calmed himself before replying to the padawans question. In the mean time, Thunger unclips a thin silver hilt from his belt. The shine illuminated the room, almost like an extra lamp or light bolb.

A lightsaber is a tool used by all Jedi. This tool can be used to cut through walls, heat and.....to defend yourself.

Thunger did not like to call the lightsaber a weapon for tool fits better. A lightsaber is only used in combat when it's your last option, only when you are attacked first. A tool of self defefence, Thunger thought.

Lightsaber's are also used as weapons. However, Jedi are the keepers on peace, this tool will only be braught out when you feel threatened, or attacked first.

With that said, Thunger stands back igniting the blade, twirling it rapidly. He has not yet handed it to the padawan, for he has a few drills he wants to teach first. After a few twirls, he disignites the tool, holding it in his left hand.

The only way Alara would ever believe what she just saw , was ... if she saw it for herself. Light appeared from such a small and gentle object. What other mysteries was she going to learn ?

She had many questions , but the girl felt that enough answers where given for one day. She knew it was time to test herself , see with her own eyes and feel if she truly possessed the Force.

' I feel that I'm ready to begin to learn , Thunger'. '

Thunger was happy to see her eagerness to learn and his facial expressions showed it. It is time for her to feel the Force for the very first time, certainly a moment she would never forget.

Okay, Alara. First, I need you to make yourself confortable, sit down if that will help..

The girl quickly complied. The floor was cold , she tried to concentrate , but there was too much external noise coming from the Enclave , from the village nearby. It was hard to put her mind together and everything she just learned made her excited , which didn't help at all.

' Right , what do you wish me to do now , Thunger? "
