Kaine walked into a small brightly lit room. This was where he was supposed to meet a master of the Twilight. Kaine had seen to much death and was far to old to join the Jedi, but he had heard of a group of people like him who strode a different path one inbetween light and dark. Kaine brought his thoughts back to the here and now. He was supposed to meet his master but where was he.

Gerard walked in and recognised the man he had recruited. He was strong in the Force, but this was really raw power, untrained as yet. The room was empty but for a workbench in one corner and a large plant in a vase in the middle of the room. "Hello Kaine, welcome to the Twilight order. Let us begin your training, "Gerard gently raised his hand and the plant gently moved to the other side of the room, "I would like you to reach out as best you can, in your mind, as though there were a power you had aiding you, and I want you to move the plant back the other way."
Kaine nodded his long blonde hair falling lazily past his face as he did so. Looking up Kaine put his hand out, almost in a stop posistion, and began to feel the vase and the life of the plant. Reaching deeper into the well that was the Force Kaine attempted to pul the plant over to him.
The plant slid a little and then as though overcoming an obstacle it passed across the room so Kaine had to both pull it and push it. Gerard was pleased he had a basic grasp of the Force.
"So then, what do you know of the Force?"

"That is true to an extent, but the Force is not some tool. It is bigger than any one person in the galaxy, nay the universe. Don't try to control it, it won't let you. You can manipulate parts of it, but it is more likely it is allowing you to use it. You must ally yourself to it to achieve its full power," he said, impressing on his apprentice how vast such a thing was, "Now you must learn to use offensive and defensive powers," with that he created a projected world, he himself disappearing and his apprentice surely believing it to be real. He made the projection show a small town on a desert planet. There was a nearby cantina and from it came a sinister looking figure with a blaster rifle. He saw Kaine and shouted, "Jedi scum," and fired. When Kaine reached for his weapons he would discover they were gone. Gerard pushed his voice into Kaine's head You are armed with the Force. Use your emotion and win the fight. Unlock powers inside yourself.

He heard his master's voice, decided that was the best course of action, ducked the wild unaimed blaster bolt and attempted to throw the man into the building he had just vacated, using all the strength he could muster.

The Assailent flew backwards and hit the wall, but was undeterred and jumped back up firing again. Gerard spoke in his mind again, Use more forceful powers. With the Force harnessing your anger can produce lightening, or stun someone on the floor or choking them. You must use more power. Trust in yourself.

The thug writhed on the floor in pain, but when the lightening dissipated he managed to struggle to his feet. There was a small child hiding in an alleyway and the thug swept him up and pointed the pistol at him.
"Surrender, or the child dies."

The man should have been dead, but he wasn't and because of that he now had a gun pointed at the head of a child. There was no way he could save the child without surrendering,"Very well,just let the child go," Kaine's voice was hoarse and gruff as he bowed his head in defeat.
Kaine heard his master's words and began to formulate a plan,"Give me your weapons,now!" the man shouted,"I can't." Kaine said. "She'll die if you don't!" the man began shouting suddenly Kaine flicked his hand the Force stunning the man.
The man collapsed, rigid and Gerard felt Kaine's relief in the Force. But this test was not over yet. The injured child on the floor called out for help, badly wounded. Gerard sent another message to his apprentice, You can heal wounds through the Force
Kaine had never tried anything like this before. The only prevous training he had had was in the Dark side, but he could feel the child's pain and knew he could do it. He seemed to remember healing himself on Kessel after an extremely brutal beating. Kaine reached out through the Force calming the child and sending healing tendrils towards her wounds, he hoped it would work.
The child's wounds sealed themselves with his Force healing and Gerard made the vision collapse. Kaine was back in the training room, sweating and panting, but successful.
"Well done," said Gerard, "That was no easy feat. But we shall now continue. What do you know of lightsaber combat?"

The scene dropped away from Kaine and he stood,panting and out of breath.His master had just asked what he knew of lightsaber combat. "Nothing really," Kaine answered feeling a bit awkward,"I left the Sith before they taught me anything, and I have learned nothing else from anyone."
"Well then," he said, smiling, "we shall start from the beginning. The first stage is the basic handling of a lightsaber. Rely on your instincts and you'll be fine."
He placed a visor over his eyes and gave him a training lightsaber. He then switched on a remote and watched him deflect the remote's attacks.

Kaine was embarresed his master had to start from the beggining. Suddenly a dark visor was plunked on his head and he was given a lightsaber. ,"Yeeow!," Kaine began cursing as a nother bolt hit his arm. They weren't actually hurting him but they stung and he wasn't expecting them. Giving in to the Force Kaine allowed it to guide him and deflect the shots.
Once he relaxed and let the Force guide him, Gerard was pleased to see him deflect bolt after bolt, repeatedly. He eventually lifted the visor from him and threw that and the visor into a foot locker. He then looked at his apprentice, tired and worn from the day.
"That will do for today," he said, "Get some food and rest. But before you come back tomorrow morning, I have an assignment for you. Go into the archive rooms and read of the lightsaber forms and what masters and lords through the ages have had to say of them. When you return I expect you to be able to tell me which form you would like to study and why. Goodnight."
Gerard knelt in medidation as his apprentice left.
