Kaine looked up from the datapad as the alarm on his chrono went off. He was supposed to meet his master and tell him what form he wanted to learn, but he couldn't decide. He had been up all night studying, sustaining himself through the Force, but he thought he had had more time. Kaine stood huriedly shoving the datapad back where he had gotten it, and brushing off the crumbs of his late night snack. He ran down the halls until he reached the door of the training room. Kaine stopped took a deep breath and knocked lightly on the door. He would have to decide what form pretty quickly.

Gerard had not moved all night, still immersed in the Force. He felt his apprentice approach in the Force, and his nerves. He opened the door before he managed to knock, stood and motioned him inside. He knew he was struggling to come to a decision, but that was fine. As long as he had a good reason, that was perfectly acceptable.

"So," he sounded friendly, "what conclusions have you come to regarding lightsaber forms?"

"Form I is the most basic form, every padawan learns it,"Kaine cleared his throat,"Form II is used to battle opponents with other lightsabers. It is not very effective against blasters. Form III is used more for protection against blasters and projectiles. Form IV is an aggresive form of combat, much more swings and attacks. Form V is a more aggresive form of form III it often deflects the bolts back into the offender. Form VI is a pinacle of all other lightsaber forms, drawing upon strong points of all the others, and finnaly form VII is an aggresive, wild, and unfinished form." Kaine waited for his master to speak.

"Well, Sii-Cho is learned in a very basic manner by every padawan, but that does not mean it is not worth learning. A true master of the first form will be one of the best warriors. Again, one very skilled with a lightsaber and a true master of Makashi will have no problems deflecting blaster fire, although the form itself does not depend on it. Soresu itself is a Form that is not just for projectiles. A Form III master will battle a lightsaber wielding opponent by blocking every attack until they make a mistake, with a water tight defense making it one of the best forms for such combat. Ataru is an attacking form and often its masters will be a blur of light and will be some of the deadliest, but the form relies heavily on speed and the stamina to sustain it. Djem So is little like Soresu, as a form that relies entirely on the strength of attack, but a good form nonetheless. Niman is the most balanced form, and a true master of this form will fight with elements of all of the others, but this is as much a curse as it is a blessing, as it does not really focus on any particular aspect of combat being exceptional, but all of them good. Juyo is a dangerous form, demanding on its student, but without doubt a true master of it is lethal to any. However it is the most difficult of the seven forms to master, and without mastery it is dangerous to oneself to use it. I can tell you have studied, however, I am speaking from something that I could never expect you to have and that is experience of all of the Forms. Knowing masters of all of them, and being very good with one of them myself, I have a better understanding than you, but that will come with time. So, which are you to study?"

"I," Kaine hesitated,"I would like to learn Form I Sii-cho, it seems to be underrated." Kaine smiled as he bowed his head.

"If you are sure, then I shall teach you the basics forms of it, and how to use it, but it is up to you to master it, I can't do that for you. Draw your training saber and do as I do."

He drew his own purple blade and began to show him the basic attacks and defenses of Sii-Cho, a very well rounded form indeed.

Gerard switched his lightsaber off, it was unreasonabe to expect his apprentice to concentrate on what he was saying and on perfecting his movements.

"It is the middle way, the true will of the Force. It is the fine line between light and dark, a tightrope in which falling can mean becoming an acolyte of the dark side of a servant of the light. In the middle you serve only the will of the Force and the living Force, a complicated ideal in itself," he paused, "This means living in the moment, being at one with the Force in everything that is happening in the present. Not every second but every tiny fraction of a second that time passes and at the same time in all of your lifetime. The living Force is something that can lead to the greater good of the galaxy as a whole, whereas looking too far to the future can lead you wanting to change the future and in actual fact you are causing it. Living now, being concerned with all that is going on around you now is enough to be concerned with and in combat can be the greatest advantage you have against any Jedi or Sith. Does that answer your question?"

Kaine left his lightsaber ignited by his side as his master explained,"Yes master, thank you." Kaine brought his lightsaber back up preparing to continue the instruction.

He continued teaching him for a while, until his apprentice was sweating and breathless. He decided that was enough for the time being, "Now I want you to go eat some food and sleep. And practice your lightsaber technique. When you return tomorrow we will spar."

The door opened and Kaine entered to find Gerard standing there, his cloak on a stand in the corner of the big room, his lightsaber hanging at his belt. Floating before him was a longer lightsaber hilt. With a low hum a green beam sprung to life from the floating hilt and he spoke, "Get past the blade. Make me draw my weapon."

Kaine shrugged his cloak off onto the ground and activated his lightsaber. Reaching out with his hand Kaine attempted to smash the floating lightsaber into the ground and leaped forward.

The floating lightsaber did not budge, Gerard had quite a strong grip on it through the Force. As Kaine leapt the blade swept around and attacked to his left as a feint and then spun back around to the right. Gerard was not making his attacks too hard to block and he was prepared to leave a hole in his defense when Kaine countered. But he would only leave one gap and if Kaine missed it then he would be duelling with the floating sword until he collapsed of exhaustion.

Kaine blocked his right leg and noticed the opening in his defenses he brought his lightsaber up over his head, still in mid-air and brought it down towards his master's skull.

Gerard twisted his body and kicked his apprentice in his open stomach, hard.

"Well done, you beat my defense, but watch out when commiting to an attack like that. If I was trying to kill you I could just have easily drawn my lightsaber and stabbed your unguarded stomach. Now you will do it again."

This time a second blade extended from the floating saber and the double bladed green light flashed towards Kaine.

OOC: I'd like to finish but this is going to be my last post until tommorow.

Kaine quikly batted the blade away, ducking and rolling, going for his masters legs.

As the blade spun in one direction, the other blade came spinning around to block his attack in midair, before countering once more. This time Gerard would wait a little while before dropping the guard and letting him in.

Gerard sent the lightsaber spinning towards Kaine, attacking then defending then countering, not letting his guard down, but Kaine parrying and countering himself brilliantly considering he had only learnt basic combat the day before. It was time for Gerard to see how he was learning. He dropped the blade an inch lower than it should have been for an attack. If he spotted it he could leap the blade and attack Gerad. If he did not miss it Gerard would make him spar constantly for the next five hours.
