You also have the option of simply using the appearance of the old gear, but rebuilding the internals so that you don't need the blueprints... *hint hint, nudge nudge*
Could just ask the Jedi really nicely if they have it in their archives. Or the library at Obroa-Skai, assuming the Mandos will hand the info over. Someone's bound to have it.
And if you go Raxus Prime, make sure it's not in Imp space. If it is, then check with Xeno and make sure there's no defenses there. Otherwise it could be a really short salvage op.
You'll mostly find durasteel. Assume a ratio of 10 tons of durasteel to every ton of conductive metal [ie stuff like copper wiring.] I'd be comfortable with you guys pulling about 10,000 tons of scrap. You'll probably need a droid barge to haul it all, though.
The blueprints are a no-go, but I don't see why you couldn't hit up a junkyard world and just salvage a shitton of scrap metal. I think Wookieepedia has an entire category of junkyard worlds like Raxus Prime - I vaguely remember that one's in GA space, so it oughta be relatively safe to approach. Some of 'em do have nasty critters living on them though, so be caaarefulll~
That battlefield is over a thousand years old. There'd be absolutely nothing left - it'd be picked clean by the locals and professional salvage corporations, and whatever was missed would've rusted away to nothing by now.
I'm afraid I've got to deny this one, Kal. If you can find a more recent battlefield [think within the last 20 years] or something in deep space where it'd be reasonable to find salvage, then I'll reconsider.
... Not I however, as I best be off to prepare myself for slumber; you can send the details and the like via PM/VM and I'll get back to you once I get the chance.
