The Zanbato is fictional, though :P Also, the Odachi and Zweihander were both developed mostly to fight cavalry, it's why they have such long hilts, characteristics taken from polearms. Their effectiveness against an infantryman with a weapon light enough to strike them before the wielder could strike made them pretty crummy against troops.

The Zanbato is probably quite similar to the Chinese Miao Dao, which was constructed with more modern lightweight metals as a response to Japanese swords in WW2. Lighter metals mean larger swords can be swung quickly still.

Interesting to note: Lucas originally thought the Lightsaber would be a heavy weapon, like a Greatsword.
