I'm quite pleased with the Super Girl sig, but not so much with the Superman sig. It isn't bad, but it just seems off.

C&C is very much appreciated.

To be honest, I like the Superman sig better. They're both great though.

Super Girl sig BG seems distracting to me: it's soo shiny >.<

I like the Super Man one better, though the circle things on the left is a bit random looking.

This is exactly what I thought. Remove the bubble or have just one.

Whoa, really? The Super Girl one just doesn't appeal to me at all. The background is too distracting and glossy. As for the Superman one, it would be great without the black on the sides. I have no idea why you made that choice, it just doesn't look right.

Removed the black boxes, per Kurt's suggestion. I think he's right in that it looks much better.

The first one is lame. No offense.

The second one is awesome.

I think the Superman one may seem off because, while it looks cool, it doesn't really have a Superman feel to it. It seems a bit more violent, dark, and deadly than you would expect from Superman.

Superman's been dark, violent, and deadly for the past few years, lol.

You can go down that road a little with Superman, but the core of Superman is hopefulness and optimism. When those two things are taken out, you know what you have? Batman.

Whoa, not nearly. Batman doesn't have the power to rule the earth, whereas Superman does. And Batman chooses to fight crime, and chooses to be Batman. Superman doesn't choose to be Superman, he can only choose to be good or evil.

What's with the 2 lighter lines and 3 dots in each one? They're all damn fine sigs though.

They're all there to enhance the focal points. Without them, the sig would be very empty.

I was referring to the theme and tone of the story, not the character. Regardless, Superman actually does choose to be Superman. While original incarnations had Clark Kent as the disguise, the modern version is that Clark Kent is the real person while Superman is the disguise. He can't choose having his powers as they are given to him by birth, but he can also choose whether to use them period, not just use them for good or evil. One of the things with Superman is that while he may be determined and resolute, part of him still wishes he could be in Smallville as a regular person. That's the Human side of him, and it's one of the better parts of the story.

And technically, he actually good choose to not have super powers. Blue kryponite can take away his powers, not permanently mind you but it can suppress them. If he really didn't want to be Superman, all he has to do is keep that with him and he can't use his powers.
