A good way to practice RPing

I feel I'm starting to mess up in a some RPs. I was wondering if the cantina board is a good place to practice RPing before going into the story? I just thought it would help me warm up some writing skills and get experience.

If you want practice without compromising the story of your main characters, make a secondary, disposable character and use them as a practice PC.

okay, but what about the cantinas and bars board?

Nobody uses it.

the cantina things were initiated in the first time line more or less as a place for characters to carry on in idle banter and down time, work on personnel development, romances, or other socializing that was not considered " cannon" to the main stories...they may play a part of them on the side, like going to a pub to talk things over with your mates etc etc..

and there was rarely a fight, and when their was it was typically bar brawl style with no intention of killing.

The bar and cantina section is mostly, as Adena said, more of an idling board. It's hardly used nowadays.

And there's often threads where not much happens in the story. Just events of ordinary life infused with a little bit of adventure. So beginning to branch out in the story section is perfectly fine. Perhaps you could meet some people in the threads to RP with in the future or at least get a start to a character or two. And maybe they might even get to be an important character if you want.
