The grass fields whispered in the breeze. There wasn’t a city in sight. No sign of civilization at all for that matter. A small patch of trees lead into a wide open field. Snow capped mountains rose in the distance like jagged knives slicing through the light blue sky. Dark dots peppered the green field; herds of various herbivores. There were some lighter dots interspersed between them; collections of predators. It was the perfect place for a hunt. A hunt that Miri had thought all of Kryze would like to join in on.
Miri crouched, adorned in her warm grey armor. She cradled her E-11D blaster rifle in one arm, using her free hand to inspect reek tracks in the dirt beneath the grass. They were fresh. There were droppings near by. Her black visor, and the red Chiss eyes within studied the ten meter area where the grass had been flattened. From the looks of it, a herd of reek were chased off by a pack of nexu. Their tracks intermingled in the flattened grass and packed dirt. Seemed the nexu didn’t catch any, not for a while anyway. There were no signs of blood, no signs of a carcass. There were young tracks too, for the reek. The herd would be large. It would be a good hunt.
She erected herself, standing at her full height. With her rifle, Westar-35 pistol on her right thigh and vibro-blade on her left hip, she was armed and ready for whatever awaited them. The goal was to get a good helping of reek horns to sell, maybe some skulls to mount on their wall. Having a few nexu claws wouldn't hurt either. Miri stayed silent, like all good hunters should, scanning the farther horizon. This would be the herd they hunt. This would be their prize. Miri pulled an EZPhone from her pocket, logging in the coordinates of the tracks and a small description of the surroundings. It would be useful for later hunts.
