The grass fields whispered in the breeze. There wasn’t a city in sight. No sign of civilization at all for that matter. A small patch of trees lead into a wide open field. Snow capped mountains rose in the distance like jagged knives slicing through the light blue sky. Dark dots peppered the green field; herds of various herbivores. There were some lighter dots interspersed between them; collections of predators. It was the perfect place for a hunt. A hunt that Miri had thought all of Kryze would like to join in on.

Miri crouched, adorned in her warm grey armor. She cradled her E-11D blaster rifle in one arm, using her free hand to inspect reek tracks in the dirt beneath the grass. They were fresh. There were droppings near by. Her black visor, and the red Chiss eyes within studied the ten meter area where the grass had been flattened. From the looks of it, a herd of reek were chased off by a pack of nexu. Their tracks intermingled in the flattened grass and packed dirt. Seemed the nexu didn’t catch any, not for a while anyway. There were no signs of blood, no signs of a carcass. There were young tracks too, for the reek. The herd would be large. It would be a good hunt.

She erected herself, standing at her full height. With her rifle, Westar-35 pistol on her right thigh and vibro-blade on her left hip, she was armed and ready for whatever awaited them. The goal was to get a good helping of reek horns to sell, maybe some skulls to mount on their wall. Having a few nexu claws wouldn't hurt either. Miri stayed silent, like all good hunters should, scanning the farther horizon. This would be the herd they hunt. This would be their prize. Miri pulled an EZPhone from her pocket, logging in the coordinates of the tracks and a small description of the surroundings. It would be useful for later hunts.

The serene quiet of nature and the tense ambiance of the hunt was interrupted by the trickling of liquid against a tree not too far in the distance. Jace had been hiking for a bit and had too much to drink and, well, here we are. Why the girls invited him to a hunt where they had to sneak was beyond him. He picked up the nickname Cavalry because he came charging in like a one man army. You called Jace when you needed someone to bulldoze through a scene.

He zipped up his pants after he was done, loudly thudding his way over to spot Miri staring over the endless plains as if she were contemplating life, “Yo, Meerkat,” He greeted, having decided on that name for her because he made fun of how Miri Kryze rolled off the tongue ages ago. Unfortunately for her, the name stuck and wasn’t going away anytime soon, “You know I hunt people, right?” He remarked as he plodded over. He could enjoy the thrill of taking down big game, but he despised all the waiting around. People were more fun because they were always on the move.

“I’ll never say no to an outing with me and three chicks though,” He said with a grin as he took out his microbinocs and peered through them.

Faela arrived around the same time that Jace finished pissing on a tree. She glanced at him as he was putting himself away, catching a glimpse of something she probably wasn't meant to see. She jerked her helmeted head away almost instantly, her cheeks completely flushed under her helmet.

<Fuck Jace, check your surroundings yeah?> She told him as she moved towards Miri.

She'd clap the sharpshooter on the back as she came up alongside her. It was a friendly gesture, something they'd done since they were kids. She wasn't sure how much use her skillset would be here but she didn't care, it was just good to be amongst people she knew she could trust again.

<How many have you seen out there?> She asked Miri.

The sounds of Jace trudging up broke the conversation, Faela smiled under her helmet as she heard him coming up. She'd adored him since they were both teenagers and it had been painfully obvious then. It still was but neither of them acknowledged it. Instead, she tried her best to ignore those feelings and just play the role as his friend and clanmate.

<Hunt people? Don't you mean pussy?> She teased as he came walking up. When Jace said his final peace, Faela would laugh, shaking her head at his vulgar joke. <Case in point.> She quipped as she caught her breath.

<How've you been Big Guy?>

Miri was quiet for a moment, continuing to search the horizon through her black visor. There were no reeks or nexu near them, so they could talk about as loudly as they wanted, or in Jace's case, piss as loudly as he wanted. "And if you want to enjoy reek tenderloin, and drink from a horn, you'll hunt reek," she said in basic. Under her helmet she was smirking. Tender, well seasoned meat, a horn that could carry a keg of alcohol, and some ass. What more could he want?

She glanced over at Faela as she clapped Miri's back. "Five herds. This one had young with them," she said, pointing to the tracks barely visible at her armored feet. "Nexu will be after them. With any luck we'll have enough reek to last a few months; and if we happen upon the nexu den Jace might finally be able to get that pussy he wants." Miri pointed toward a series of dark dots on the horizon, just at the foot of the mountains.

Without another word, she started the hike toward the herd, periodically crouching to check the ground for tracks. The grass seemed to the grow the deeper into the field they went, until it was at Miri's hips. It was at this point, Miri began to stalk, taking slower, more deliberate steps. They were in nexu hunting territory. Crashing about would only serve to draw a den upon them. His hand was on the pistol grip of her E-11D blaster rifle, the selector switch on fire as she kept it pointing forward.

They were both hunters and prey here.

Even if it didn’t manifest outwardly, Raya couldn’t help but feel some excitement for the thrill of their Hunt.

Years had passed since the disappearance of Nox and the disbanding of the Mandalorian crusade, leaving their once-united people to scatter across the Galaxy once more. Most of the clans had returned to their nomadic ways, reverting to the bounty-hunting lifestyle that had persisted for generations. Large gatherings were a rare event, and there was ever a sense of comfort and familiarity that came with being surrounded by her own Vod.

Raya arrived a few minutes later than the rest - rounding the corner to join the other three overlooking the plains of Saleucami. She was adorned in her signature blue-and-gray Beskar’gam, helmet tucked under her arm and weapons strapped to her waist. Her dyed hair was styled roughly into place, shaved nearly to the scalp on both sides of her head.

She caught the tail end of what was being said between her kin - arching a brow ever-so-slightly with amusement. “Maybe he’ll actually manage to catch something this time.” She said with a smirk, giving each of them a small nod of greeting. As they began moving through the plains, Raya slipped the helmet back over her head - activating the thermal visor as the grasses rose up taller around them. There was ever the risk of being stalked by the very Nexu they hunted, and the Kryze didn’t allow her guard to falter despite the lighthearted conversation.

“There is a river that runs through this valley a few klicks East. If we’re lucky, the herd and the Nexu stalking them will be moving in that direction.” She said quietly, fingers hovering near the holster on her belt.

Jace smirked at Faela, “How about you remember you have bat ears so you don’t ‘accidentally’ walk in on me with my dick out?” He shot back at the redhead without missing a beat. Jace joined the others shortly, rolling his eyes at Faela’s vulgar question, “You’d be rolling in pussy too if your bounty hunting numbers were close to mine,” He snickered.

When Raya moved in and made a jab at him, Jace soon realized this wasn’t going to be a pleasant outing with ladies. He was going to be the punching bag the entire time. Jace groaned to himself, letting the others start to move before he brought up the rear. He knew he wasn’t exactly quiet, but he wouldn’t ruin their strategy.

Maybe for like five minutes..

“Why don’t we startle them and run them off a cliff and into a deep ditch?” Jace suggested. All this sneaking around sounded stupid to him. If they could spook them off a ledge, they’d fall to their deaths and the Mandalorians could jetpack down to retrieve them. And they would be inaccessible to any nexu stuck up top. Sounded solid to him and allowed him to be loud and obnoxious.
