I would like to start by thanking everyone for efforts to push and repair things thus far, and the wonderful ideas coming and going... however there are a few matters that need dire attention, and corrected as soon as possible.
First is activity levels; It's understandable that things happen and we have to vanish time to time, hell I myself have been hit with a major wave of RL matters that leaves me with only a few moments here and there to check PM's and browse over a few key areas.
The problem really comes when a character is involved in a battle, more so as a commander or other person of key importance to the thread, and then vanishes without warning or notice. I fail to see how a 30 second PM would be too much to ask for. It really is unfair to the greater community to be left wondering why things stalled, and a greater strain on faction leaders or other commanding characters and yes even staff to try to also figure out whats going wrong, and find out if and when they need to find a replacement. Replacing characters IS a hard call to make, made harder when we have no clue if the person being replace will be gone for another month, or be back tomorrow.
Also on a ooc/ic level this makes not only story telling harder, but just conducting war, and other aspects of why I was placed as the RL of the Republic. one major note was my experiences in massive battles in an RP setting.. and not so much battles, War in general. Those around the first timeline may remember what I talk about.
( for those out of the loop)
The Republic needs turned around for this timeline to even have a chance to continue to any degree...I am here to provide what organization, communication, and strategy as I can. I have spent the last 31 years of my life in a proud navy family, a very warrior proud family, I am a long study of anthropology, the great tacticians and strategists, I have learned to see beyond the " pew pew grrrrr" immediate battles and can see multi facets and utilise forthought and complex webs of conventional and unconventional tactics to start creating a certain mindset in both allies and enemies, and thus start to create the opportunities we need to turn said faction around... I am a military minded individual contrary to a few whispers that have made it my way, I simply focus on it from an admiral, or higher standpoint and less the boots on the ground marine squaddy.
However...this all means NOTHING without the support of members. others can offer strengths, experience, or expertise in areas that are needed. A faction is not exactly defined by their leaders alone, each individual helps shape how successful, or epically unsuccessful a faction can be. One can come to the table with all sorts of ideas, or motivational speeches... but if nobody is willing to stand up and work with it, or lend the effort then it's not going to go anywhere.
We care to see progress? Then HELP me, and yourselves... the inner squabbles can make for interesting stories, but at the same time, without a united fron, and everyone deciding it's more fun to hold self destructive stories, or just.. wonder off oocly for weeks at a time, the more and more unlikely it is the faction could survive.
this leads to communication, and understanding eachother as well... share streangths, and communicate, keep people on the same page, both IC'ly.. and more importantly OOCLY. If others are utterly unaware of what is amiss because nobody wants to take a few seconds to fire off a message, then how can things get done? how can problems be solved?
the moral of the story? A faction is not one , or two people... it's all of us, and we all have a role no matter how big or small...without all those pieces working in unison, the machine will never run to it's full potential.
And lastly...a few things I wanted to add.
There will be a few changes coming. As one can see, we are having issues with too many commanding officers just MIA, and holding numerous things up. and nobody in a situation to really take over easily... While this is being delt with I would like to issue this.
by June 1st, I NEED to hear from anyone in a commanding post, and get a clear idea of their activity levels, and if they are awhol quite often need to be able to understand whats keeping them.. Commanders are needed to be quite active and involved, they act as the backbone of not just the faction, but the RP's in general a wishy washy twice a month schedule in no way is conducive to an effective commanding character.
on june 1st those who have not responded WILL find their rank stripped. on the same aspect there will also be a series of promotions ( or new characters made by others ) who have the activity levels and communication skills such a position requires.
secondly the simulators will become mandatory just as every other faction has " training" requirements. this too will apply to the republic. The way this will be done will be revealed later, but in that time I am taking suggestions and ideas, because again.. this is a faction of individuals, not one person....
