INTENT & DESCRIPTION
Aegis is a small but growing Spec Ops PMC. Being founded by former Border Alliance soldiers, and members of planetary defense forces ADI hopes to support and defend the people of the Galaxy from tyranny and disaster, helping wherever needed. Many of the people that ADI attracts have recently suffered at the hands of the Sith, or hail from worlds that have been traumatized by war and turmoil of other causes. Operating outside of the Republic, and outside of any government or operational body, ADI benefits from increased flexibility as far as funding, operations, and Rules of Engagement. Besides fighting for their own causes, ADI is also a Private Military Corporation (PMC), a military for hire. ADI has aspirations to grow a naval division into a fierce force, but for now their navy is just large enough to transport / escort ADI into hot situations and provide temporary defense in the case of an attack until ex filtration is achieved. Their navy is very small, and is pieced together from surplus ships, and gifts from generous senators. ADI is led by the rogue Commander Noah Jacen, a man known for his compassion and stalwart determination. ADI doesn't have any large military installations, instead they have a Corporate Headquarters, a military training area, and a military staging area.
OOC: The Intent of ADI is to provide an area for Indie characters with strong military skills or backgrounds to band together and fight as a peacekeeping organisation, making scenarios for interesting storytelling on the grittier side of war.
GOALS & MISSION STATEMENT
Headquartered on Corellia, ADI seeks to aid those who are in great need. Acting like a disaster relief service and peacekeeping force on war-torn worlds, an extra-governmental military at other times, and a PMC for hire, ADI is very flexible in what they will do. Falling under the jurisdiction of no government, ADI is able to perform tasks and receive funding otherwise not possible through the Republic.
The biggest attractor for ADI to join in a conflict is word that there are people who cannot help themselves. The strong must defend those who are not, and ADI lives by that creed. Sometimes the job is thankless, but they fight because no one else will.
Though many soldiers join ADI, there is a very great need for others. Medical personnel and EMTs are always in high demand, especially for disaster relief and refugee activities, providing aid to those who've been displaced by war. Pilots are more than welcome, especially those who can run smuggling operations, as many worlds in need are simply to well defended to be liberated by ADI forces and the local populace need food and supplies to continue their rebellion to free themselves. Engineers and mechanics are a necessity to run the ships and vehicles in ADI's arsenal, and to make sure the droids are always working. Businessmen and women are a rare commodity, as the primarily combat company has little in the way of diplomats.
HISTORY
Aegis was founded by Kalin Varne, Noah Jacen, and Silas Amory. The former two were members of the border alliance, or of planetary defense agencies that fought alongside the BA. Kalin was the first to retire, having served as Fleet Admiral for BotaDef, the planetary defense agency for the planet of Botajef, before resigning after hearing of their plans to join the Border Alliance. Noah was the second to retire, seeking out his old CO after his resignation. They both agreed that they would love to stand against the Sith, but neither had a way to do so without an army of some kind. The duo met Silas Amory who provided administration and funds for the fledgling group, and as such ADI was born.
As of recently, Admiral Kalin Varne has gone AWOL and control has fallen to Noah Jacen and the corporate head Quinn Hancock. The bulk of ADI forces are currently engaged on the world of Randon in order to tear down a radicalist group that has staged a coup and taken control of much of the planet, but the fighting is hard.
