I say the age should be lowered. Only for the fact that the deed is already being done in secret. And as we all know the things we are forbidden to do are the things we want the most.

I think eighteen is fine, but some states are at sixteen and I guess that's fine too. I mean, honestly, the law is not there to keep teenagers from having sex, despite what a lot of people think. It's there to protect minors from sexual predators.

I am aware of this. I looked into this before I posted this.

Please don't think I am some teenager who just wants it lowered to have sex, I just want to have a serious discussion on something people have been bothering me about.

There is no true way to determine if someone is ready. Me personally, I was ready at 12 and I've handle myself pretty well since then. Everyone is ready at a different age.

I really don't think a twelve year old who is just going through puberty can really understand sex.

Sad story.

Some chick and her BF were doing it in her car on my street. My neighbor called the cops, the cops called her mom, her mom didn't care, the girl was '16 and not her responsibility any more.' That's sad.

Up it to 18 nationall, IMO.

Well it does do that well of a job, because the law can't do anything till it's violated and then it's easy enough to undermine.

It's harsh but, not that sad, at least by state law she is legal. some parents abandon their kids way before that
