Looking at the gray rocks that constitute the mountain reminded Alelto of home. That was all the joy he could have under the Jedi Order since they separated him from his Twin brother. This quarry, he thought, would be a good place for him and his brother to train. The soil were dry and the air not too humid. He could sweat without worrying about getting a cold.

He was two hours early for his training then so he distracted himself by dashing back and forth and carving scars on the mountain with his lightsabers. He would jump high and spin fast to dizzy himself so he could forget his brother's absence.

He believed he was right. He and his brother would love to train here.

He disrobed his sweaty apparel after spending his leisure time and washed himself with a clothe soaked with water from the nearby water. The water wasn't too cold for him to shiver and the breeze was barely dragging dirt.

All's left for him to do was wait to dry.

((I guess just wander across you?))

Niva was walking the grounds when she ran into the naked apprentice. At first she turned away, intending to leave the young jedi in peace, but she turned back as she recognized his face. "Uh, you're padawan Nivir right?"

When Alelto heard a woman's voice he grabbed his robe to cover himself. His body still had some moist but he wouldn't want a woman to see him naked. He thought the woman might be offended so he wore the robe quick and without any slips.

"You're early, Master. Yes I am him." He knew it was a master when he noticed her only when she'd gotten close. His senses never fail him even when he's blissfully moving faster than the birds that fly so it was obvious this woman was agile and adept.

But....

(He bowed.)

But....

Alelto was surprised to see his mater a woman. He expected a man would teach him the Jedi code but he felt he can do nothing than be satisfied to have a master. His master at a glance had long legs but thin arms. (The sight worried him.) He hoped to spar against a master as soon as the situation permits. Could they have given him a less worthy Jedi because he wasn't raised at the temple?

She was small too though he was no giant either.

"I hope to learn from you."

He smiled satisfied.

"I sense some apprehension in you." Niva commented. "While I am weaker than a male jedi, what I lack in strength, I make up for in dexterity and wisdom. I can guarantee that you shall not defeat me in battle for many years."

"I believe you, Master Niva. You are adept in the Jedi teachings as I sense it now. But it is not apprehension you sense, but uncertainty.

"I've never trained with a woman before. But if it is the will of the force to have our fates tangled, then I shall accept it. I only wish that I learn from you.

"How shall we begin?"

Niva pulled a datapad seemingly from the air itself and rapidly began punching away at it as she kept her eye's focused on the padawan. "I believe in letting the padawan decide the order of training. It helps me to decide if you are truly jedi or if you are actually bogan. So I ask you, what would you like to learn first?"

Her fingers paused as she waited for him to answer.

He paused to remember what a Bogan was. Unlike his better half he doesn't do as much work that involved research. The minute they were introduced to the Order Alelto focused more on physical training whilst Nivelto, his twin brother, focused on a majority of Jedi studies.

But Niva's tone on the word Bogan seemed somewhat hostile so he guessed it's the opposite of the Jedi.

"I'm not sure if I am truly Jedi, most beautiful master of mine. But all I wish is to train under the best... and I believe I will be training with the best.

"I enjoy the lightsaber, master. If you would be so kind as to show me the way of the Jedi."

He slid two lightsabers through his sleeves then lit the two lightsabers at the same time while he made his stance with his center of gravity in his hips.

Niva stamped her foot once and a wave of force energy traveled towards the apprentice at shin level. If he did not sense and avoid it he would be knocked straight onto his ass.

Alelto hopped behind and bending his neck backwards to increase his falling speed but left himself watching the sky. He remembered the boulder from behind him and used it to increase their distance. He used his arms to manage a back flip and upon landing he formed his lightsabers to block any attack from the chest up and hip below.

Niva began punching more keys on the datapad. "Your reactions are good." Niva nodded. "Now what style had you decided upon?"

Alelto's stance was perfect but his response was slow. Without his brother to give him the answer his mind is at a blank. During their time at the Jedi monastery his brother would often tell him the answer through his mind since their mental connection was strong. Now that they are planets away he could not ask for his brother's help. If his brother would only know the dilemma he was in, chances are the answer would flash before his mind thanks to his brother.

"I have no desired style, master. But I believe by your guidance I'll find a perfect style that matches me."

Niva raised an eyebrow before punching several more keys into the datapad. "Alright then, what kind of combat do you favor then?"

He settled his guard and switched the lightsaber off to stop the buzzing noise. "I enjoy the art of lightsaber combat, but my brother believed that I need to know more of the Jedi arts. He said that I need to learn more about the force."

"The force can be a magnificent entity." Niva nodded. "How about this. Spend a day at the library, we'll meet back here tomorrow and you can tell me then what you want to learn."

Alelto felt that his master knew his lack of Jedi knowledge despite his answers and despite his efforts to show confidence. Now that he was far from his brother who would always restrain him from doing something reckless he thought he should ask his master for some sparring lesson. If he is successful his master would find a suitable combat style for him and not force him to do his required research.

"It's been long since I've had a good spar, master. And I've already warmed up. If you may. You could prove me that my master is not all looks. That she can also use the saber well."

He light both his lightsaber and pointed its tips at Niva.

"The way of the jedi is a way of peace." Niva responded. "Battle must always be a last resort and not a first inclination."

Niva hit keys on her pad for 7 seconds before returning it to a pouch on her side. "You will do the research, if for no other reason than that you do not want to do it. I do not spar with my students until they know where they stand. Learn where you want to be, then we shall talk about sparring."

"Yes, master."

Alelto was disappointed because he had to go to the library to study instead of sparring with his master. It's not that he hated studying or despises research. He just thought it all as unnecessary for his main focus was lightsaber combat. It's not that he can't do research, either. On the contrary, he's quite good at it and it is quite easy for him to accumulate knowledge. But that was one reason he ignores studying: it was easy for him. It was in combat when he truly learns and gains experience rather than accessing some decade old datapad.

He also wanted to keep his mind away from his brother's absence.

He spent two days at the library reading on lightsaber combat so that he'd have a better response for his master.

....

He searched for his master after doing all his research. He meditated a day before too to tell his brother he misses him.

Niva waited by the water where she had met Alelto two days before. She had waited there the previous day, only for him not to show up, she took it as a sign that he was busy studying, which was good. She did not like having to explain everything to every apprentice, preferring they did the work themselves.

Alelto was watching his master near the river and wondered what the correct response would be.

Once he neared her he calmly said: "I wish to know all styles and all forms. And if possible, a style and form to call my own, with your guidance, master."

He could have answered "all styles" before his research but now he's confident that he could answer any question she could ask him.

"So you wish to learn my own form Niman then?" Niva asked.
