While the Corellian government is held hostage, a force of Mandalorians is send to the Imperial barracks to hold off possible reinforcements towards the government building and just wipe out as many imperial soldiers as they possibly can.
Attackers: @Leandros Solus (@Pai-Mike) & @Burkhart Kelborn (@Darasuum)
Defenders: @Darth Victress (@Faded Truth) & @Niish Chichel (@Gian Greydragon)
OOC: I leave for field training on 25May, from there it’s ~6 days of intermittent mobile posting from the woods. Let’s get some speedy posting and have fun please:)
”Strike Team Karyatr, drop.”
Have you ever heard an entire planet scream?
Leandros was certain that he just did. The stark realization that they were not meteors falling from the sky sent the people of Corellia into a panic. All around, basilisk droids and dropships plummeted to the earth below, their riders and personnel some of the galaxy’s most-feared warriors – the Mandalorians. Each man and woman going into battle was worth a hundred Imperials, their minds and bodies honed from years of constant warfare. They all wore their signature armor emblazoned with the iconography of their clans and their exploits. Every warrior going into battle carried a full complement of weaponry for any situation. This was no mere skirmish force. They were liberators, whether these people wanted it or not.
At the fore rode two of their most well-known warriors: Leandros the War Councilor and Field Marshal Burkhart Kelborn. The duo had fought together numerous times before. In fact, Leandros still fondly remembered the time Burkhart gave him a brutal beatdown behind his bar. Now the two of them plummeted into battle atop their mighty war machines, two brothers-in-arms focused on the singular purpose of conquest. Fun was not something one considered when conquering the universe, but this brought a faint smile to Leandros’ lips.
The wind rushed past him as the ground quickly approached, but he felt no fear. Not only was he fully secured by hidden quick-release straps, but also the thrill of battle washed over his mind. The exhilaration of hotdropping on a basilisk never failed to impress him. He loved every second he spent on the droid. After all, what was cooler than riding on a metal death machine to go burn a world?
Literally nothing.
Leandros knew that somewhere out there were the people closest to him riding into the same battle. He knew that Raz was leading her people in this great charge and that she would find herself in the thick of combat in the capital. An inkling of worry nestled itself in the back of his mind that he crushed shortly thereafter with thoughts of glorifying the gods and his Mand’alor. Idle thoughts could not distract him, not today. They would all emerge unscathed from this conflict and move onto the next planet, and then the next. That was what the gods demanded of them.
Coronet City rapidly approached and, within seconds, each of the Mandalorian strike teams split off towards their respective targets. Leandros and Burkhart moved towards the Imperial garrison in the capital; their mission was to fix the enemy and prevent any reinforcement of the government building in order to provide Raz and her team with the time needed to force the capitulation of the Corellian leaders.
The garrison itself was impressive. On three sides were towering barracks approximately forty-five meters long and twenty meters wide with windows evenly spaced every three meters and rising six stories forming a U-shape around a massive parade field that was approximately forty meters long and thirty-five wide. The barracks had entrances located every thirteen meters lengthwise. Between the barracks and the parade field was about five meters of open space for personnel movement. There was a viewing stand for the official parties of the parade on one far side, as well as stands for a crowd on both sides of it. The fourth side of the parade field opened to a pathway and then a small road that formed a U-shape that split off along the field that was approximately eight meters wide. Just beyond it loomed the solid, ten-meter-tall wall of the garrison that separated it from the city. On the other side of the barracks was the rest of the garrison, but it was not their concern. A few administrative buildings bordered the road and it looked like a large open patch of ground sat prepared for construction. A pity that it would never come to fruition, now.
Leandros’ personal retinue moved off towards one side of the barracks and prepared to enter and clear it while other teams moved towards the other two buildings. Leandros’ basilisk slammed onto the ground on the edge of the parade field, bending and warping the metal below it as its massive weight and claws dug in. He was in the space next to the eastern barracks (number 1 on the map) and about midway down the parade field's width. Its rider looked on as his people breached the buildings, a faceless gargoyle overseeing one of the most significant attacks on Imperial territory in years. He barked out a short command to the droid, which turned its impressive armaments towards the massive Imperial banner flying high on the barracks. Within seconds, it shredded the flag, sending scorched cloth fluttering in the wind. He then turned his mount towards the road, ready for any reinforcements.
The Mandalorians had arrived.
Here's a map that I spent 4 minutes in paint making
