Kai let out an honest singular laugh at hearing the second question Ilana asked. His head turned to the side a little but was blocked by the body over his shoulders. "You know I was totally going to go back there and do it myself? Man, glad I'm not that selfish. Yeah, Bruggan will probably get a kick out of it."

Inside the building the smell was not as intense. Instead it just smelled like an old parking garage with some old standing water somewhere. The air was cool and dank. The darkness increased the deeper they went with only cautionary lights at one point. But the two came to a door and it opened to reveal a few chairs, a table and some other furnishings. But it seemed like nobody had come to the place in months if not years.

The lighting was better than outside. Kai even pressed a few buttons on the wall and made it a hologram projector make dancing lights just for the hell of it and then returning to normal. Still works But the skull faced man would turn and lay Bruss down. "Now where is that rope?" He would eventually pull it out.

Looking towards Ilana he gestured towards the table where Bruss was laying or one of the chairs they could tie him to. "Where should we start do you think?" There was a desire for violence in the arkanian. He could sense it and was not above enabling it. He accepted the savage side that existed in everyone.

This'll be fun. She was getting louder.

The darkness did not disturb her. Step by step they descended into the gloom, and when they arrived to their final destination, she inhaled deeply. The air reeked of many things... most of them unsavory, and she suppressed a grimace of disdain. It was true, she had an acute sense of smell; but in the medical field, it came with several advantages. However.

She was crossing her oath, to do no harm. He was not a patient yet... at least, not one for treatment.

"Table," she answered calmly, setting her bag atop one of the chairs, and beginning to dig through it. A packet, first, and some disposable gloves. Then, the simple sonic scalpel, and laser cauterizer. The hypospray was next, and she clicked one shot of stim into the waiting vial slot, dialing it in for one dose.

"Now then." She turned to face Kai, pulling a protective face mask over the lower portion of her face, amber eyes as calm and cool as though this were routine. "Make sure his limbs are immobilized, it would be a shame if he broke free. And let me know when he needs..." she slowly panned her gaze up and down the entire length of the Karkarodon's body, "...awakening."

With the medical professional's answer, Malakai complied and like a good nurse he secured the 'patient'. Bruss grunted as he began waking up from his forced slumber. The Legionnaire knew the shark man would be groggy but his lucidity would return eventually.

"You interrogate someone before?" Malakai still kept in mind why they were here. His skeletal gloved hands pressed together, cracking his knuckles. The primary purpose was to get information on Bruss's boss.

The macabre man smacked the side of Bruss's yellowish face before drawing back. He did not want to keep his hands near the teeth of the karkarodon. "Wake up. You're not sleeping with the fishes yet." He teased the bound thug. Eventually he would come to and look around. Naturally he would struggle, pushing against the ropes. Curses, questions, they came and went. "If you keep flopping around like a fish you're going to get treated like one." He gestured towards the arkanian he had been flirting with earlier. "...And I don't think she likes you very much."

"What do you want? You have any idea how much poodoo you're in?"

She ignored the Karkarodon's warnings and threats, calmly opening the foil packet and removing what laid inside. She tied back her hair, and shook out the apron from within the packet, tying it about her waist. The plastic material was familiar to those that might have watched enough noir holovids.

She was prepped like someone about to do an autopsy.

"Do you?" she finally answered calmly, head tilted in his direction. Her fingers ghosted over the selection of tools she had out, finally daintily picking up the sonic scalpel with practiced ease. "Now, make sure you answer his questions. I would hate to open up more than I have to."

She powered up the scalpel; the light hum was always a comforting familiarity as she poised over the shark boy, head tilted slightly. She let out a hum of contemplation... and leaned slowly towards his hand, towards the soft joint of his elbow.

"Massive pinch."

When the tip sank into soft flesh, he bellowed, thrashing, and blood spattered... onto the unprotected areas of her jacket and mask.. thank goodness she had the foresight to put that on. She grimaced, and sighed, powering it off to glare down at him. "...That cost me a good chunk of credits, you slime. Next time, I'll slice something more valuable."

She then reached for the laser cauterizer, burning the wound closed. Hearing his whimpered snarl of pain was music to her ears.

She had the smallest of smiles ghosting on her lips, unseen.

"Now... that was just a taste. Answer his questions, or I'll try again."

Even Malakai got a chill running down his spin from the Doctor's words. His own face remained quiet and watched as Bruss looked between him and her, looking to see which one he could reason with. But he would find any mercy between them.

When she began working on him the Legionnaire stood back and waited for Ilana to finished dishing out her torturous appetizer. Malakai wathched making sure that if things went too far too early he would step in. But the arkanian hybrid had control of herself and he was not about to micromanage his associate. In fact he lit up another cigara, hoping it would replace the stagnant air. It felt like they were deep in some artificially constructed cave. The cold echo of the Karkarodon's screams didn't reach anybody but those in the room.

"I don't think you're a stranger to pain Bruss. I can see that. You're a tough guy. But you ever been torn apart and put back together to only be torn apart again?" The shadows in the edges of the room seemed to grow longer for a moment as the Legionnaire let the dark side flow through him. His mind focused on the black eyes of his captive. If someone said a shark had lifeless eyes Malakai would have to disagree.

Dropping his concealment in the force Malakai did not feel the need to mute his presence. This deep in the bowls of the Smuggler's Moon there was no point in keeping his power held back. He looked towards Ilana, wondering if she had realized she was different than most others. She was empathetic and expressed her difficulties with feeling others. But from him she would sense a more confident, predatory presence. His intimidating nature was not directed at her.

"Alright! Ok! Kark, I'll tell you what you want to know!" Malakai did not drop his focus. In fact he further dominated the mind of the Karkarodon forcing him to look only at the Legionnaire, preventing him from tearing his eyes away. He let the enhancement of the Karkarodon's fear for a bit longer than necessary. The Grysk took a step forward, causing the Karkaradon to struggle again for a moment, pushing his body against the ropes fruitlessly but remembering he was stuck in place.

"Tell us all about your boss's office. You're head of security...so tell me how secure it is." The gaunt eyes of the skeletal man seemed to glow a slight yellowish color. The baleful stare reflecting back in the dark karkarodon pupils along with the subtle ember of the burning cigara between his grinning teeth. Malakai eased up on his intimidation, resisting the steep slope enough to at least get the information out of the terrified thug. He proceeded to spill everything he knew and did so rapidly as if his life depended on it.

"Thanks Bruss. Now..." The feeling of the room relaxed. The scent of sweat and possibly something else judging by the stain in the shark man's pants, mixed together with the smoke of the laced cigara. "You're going to let me go right?" The Grysk did not answer. Instead he looked towards Ilana. She would decide his fate.

A chill shivered between her shoulder blades when she allowed Malakai to step back and do his work. Even though his actions weren't directed at her... she felt a spark of something flare to life in her eyes. An emotion she thought she was dulled to.

Surprise. Shock.

But... she gazed at Bruss, head tilted slightly. The Karkarodon seemed paralyzed from that look. Almost like a snake... interesting , she mused to herself, watching from her distance. She wordlessly put away the scalpel, then her other tools, but held the hypo filled with stim thoughtfully. And then, while both were distracted, dialed another dose and a half. She turned back, holding it in her pocket to watch him in action, suppressing a chilled shiver down her spine.

Those eyes...

She stared back into that gaze. It almost reminded her of an old legend... that of Death. It was only Malakai, true, but there was more to that. It was that same sickened feeling, that malaise, that touch she felt the last time she looked into yellow eyes. Roman. That was the man... in a similar situation.

She wordlessly stepped past Malakai, and leaned over the Shark Boy.

She pulled off her mask to give him a sweet smile, placing a hand on his shoulder and gazing down into those black eyes.

"You're being let go," she answered calmly, watching him sag in relief against his bonds.

She walked around to the other side as though to release his bonds... then gazed at Malakai straight on, not even flinching. The hypo was drawn from her pocket, and almost like a flicker, her hand passed and stabbed the hypo directly into his jugular. He snarled, and she emptied all of it straight in. Almost immediately he bellowed out, and arched against his bonds, muscles straining as he screamed.

He thrashed, and she didn't break her gaze once from her partner. Their victim could feel his heart pounding fast, impossibly fast, as the world began to blur, chest heaving and everything shaking out of control... and then the painful shredding of his heart bursting in his chest.

When he was done twitching, she stepped away, putting the hypo back into her bag in the 'biohazardous' container, along with her soiled apron, gloves. She took off her jacket, revealing the sleeveless top, and turned the jacket inside out, then also stuffed it into the bag to be disposed later.

"No victims, no witnesses," she answered calmly, , tilting her head at him. "Any questions?"

Malakai watched Ilana move around the bound man. Bruss's body relaxed for a moment, assuming the meaning of her words indicated freedom. But the woman's murderous focus did not change. The Grysk watched as the man died painfully. His hand bringing up the cigara and letting his face become illuminated by the ember on the tip before bringing it back down. I could die worse. He thought to himself.

The ropes held up but when the body of the Karkarodon became still Malakai could see where the bindings had scrapped against his skin. But he had a plan for disposing of the body. "You familiar with water treatment, Doc?" Placing the cigara between his teeth his hands were free begin undoing the rope.

Once again he picked up the unmoving body the the yellow skinned shark man. His boss and everyone he knew would not go looking for him in the next day or so. Bruss's history with gambling would mean that others would suspect a debt collector or some gambling king pin picked him up to work him over, or kill him. Maybe then people would look for him but it would be unlikely for the to be able to track him let alone find any evidence that would come back to bite Malakai or Ilana.

"Grab the rope too. We're not walking far." The rope could potentially still have traces of the corpse's DNA from the abrasions. While the walk was not long, he had expected the interrogation to take longer. As he carried the literal dead weight of the Karkarodon he could still feel the dull ache from when the Quarren had kicked him in the face. With no natural light in the artificial tunnel they eventually came to a slightly open area.

Walkways cross over vats of glowing blue substance. The air was cooler here and smelled more like chemical solutions rather than the rankness the two had smelled before. "This is part of the coolant system for the machines. Chemicals that react in there are pretty acidic and will dissolve his body in a day or so. Probably faster if we dump him in pieces." But he did not want to splatter blood and guts all over the place. So he dumped the body over the railing and the aquatic cadaver made a splash. He looked to Ilana to see what she thought. He knew that if a living being went in there they would probably die of hypothermia before they succumbed to the chemicals that ate away at organic material.

Bare pink feet stood on top of the pools of coolant. Malakai saw them out of the corner of his eye and turned to look. But there was just the ripples of the liquid settling. One step closer "We're gettin' there."

She shook her head at his question, watching when he picked up the body, and snagged the rope they used. She would also bend to scoop up the mask; it was necessary to look like nobody had been here. She glanced about the room once, then followed, heels clipping in the dark with steady, slow steps.

She stared down at the coolant... and felt an urge to take a sample. If it was that low-acidic, it could be used for a variety of purposes beyond water-cleaning... but for now, watching the cadaver slowly sink into the water was satisfying enough.
"And the rope?" she inquired, tilting her head slightly. If it took a while for the cadaver to dissolve enough... then something as simple as rope wouldn't take too long either.

She glanced at his last comment, then wordlessly glanced back towards the pools. It would not be hard... but another time, perhaps.

"Well then. It's good to know there are places other than rivers to dispose a body." She was remarkably calm now, and clear-headed. The 'noise', as it was, was empty, and the miasma of before was muted with the chemical, an overwhelmingly large difference in the Arkanian's book.

"Time to ditch the ride and go," she sighed, tossing the ropes into another vat of coolant. If what he said was true, it would dissolve any traces of hers or his DNA or fingerprints long before anyone would think to look... and based on his side profession of a credits hustler, she highly doubted anyone would be keen to search for him.

Yet, this was no time to relax on maybes. Her hands went into her pockets, and she tilted her head.
"Shall we go now?" she asked, then continued walking.

No time to dwell on another useless body in a wide galaxy filled with them. But now she had her own credits... and she knew exactly how to spend them.

"Yup. Didn't care much for it anyways." He said when she commented on the ride. He turned and uncermoniously headed back towards the room, turning of the lights just in the odd event that he or Ilana needed to come back this way. Everyone else that used to come here is...gone.

☠

It was not too difficult to find lower pipes and sections where airspeeders could be set ablaze and left to burn themselves out. "I'll call us a ride." He said and pulled out a commlink as he walked away from the burning car. He pulled out the device and kept an eye on his surroundings. Even this place made him stay on guard. He kept by Ilana, making sure that together they got out of the lower levels and back to someplace where they could take a shower, change clothes, and maybe have a few drinks.

"Ok THIS time...you're place or mine?" He grinned as Bruggan pulled up. After everything that had happened tonight they had another local day before the Grysk wanted to move on their newly acquired information. That was roughly over seventy two hours , three days if your feeling like a normie, and one thing he knew he could use was a check on his brain. The Quarren had kicked him hard and the last thing he wanted was to pass into a coma before he could get what he was after. "I'll supply any party favors free of charge." He said like a friend enticing another friend with a free drink. He knew she was dealing with her feelings. It was not an unfamiliar experience.

Her lips twitched faintly, giving the Grysk a side-eyed amber glance. "Yours, of course," she answered in her usual raspy tone, taking care to see that she hadn't forgotten anything or left anything behind. Her head tilted towards his when he mentioned party favors... and she smiled once more.

It wasn't the warmest smile, but it was a step above her usual stoic iciness.

"You're on. But first... I need to wash this filth out of my clothing. Do you think idiocy could be contagious?"
