NAME: Chedra Pelt
FACTION: Jedi Order
RANK: Jedi Knight
SPECIES: Twi'lek
AGE: 33 years
GENDER: Female
HEIGHT: 1.7 meters
WEIGHT: 59 kg
FORCE SENSITIVE: Yes

APPEARANCE:
A female Twi'lek wearing brown Jedi robes, with purple skin and green eyes. She has an overall serious look.

ATTRIBUTES:

Strength

Force healing - Chedra was originally a medunit nurse, training from a young age in the medical field. When she discovered her Force capabilties, she found that her understanding of sentient biology had increased. She is able to repair injuries such as minor burns and to stop bleeding. More major wounds would require intervention in a medical setting. Her powers extend to the psyche, as well. She is able to soothe emotions such as anxiety and distress, and temporarily relieve depression.

Strength

History of the Jedi Order

A studious and inquisitive Jedi, Chedra was interested in learning the extensive history of the Order when she joined it. She spent many days listening to her Master, in turn coming to share his views on the value of all sentient life and the importance of the Jedi Code. When she begins to feel overwhelmed by life, Chedra will silently recite the Code, which usually steadies her mind.

Weakness

Lightsaber combat

Preferring a book over her lightsaber, Chedra is considered average in lightsaber combat, for a Knight her age. She works better in tandem fighting rather than by herself. Confronting a Sith alone would be dangerous for her.

Weakness

Starship piloting

Although the Force can certainly help a Jedi with maneuvering, Chedra needs more than the Force on her side. She feels great anxiety when having to fly due to her Jedi responsibilities, and as a result, would rather stay rooted on a planet. If she were ever on a flying mission, she'd be praying to the stars that she could leave it on autopilot. Space combat? A sure demise for her.

PERSONALITY:

As she has grown older, Chedra's personality has morphed from shy and withdrawn to kind and nurturing. Although she still has trouble developing several attachments (it is emotionally and mentally draining for her), she will often find one or two people to nurture and support. She decided to forgo having any more children in light of the devastation she faced the first time. Instead, she focused on her abilities and duty to the Order, choosing to admire children from afar. She would one day like to take on a Padawan and see them grow in their knowledge of the Force and perhaps medical training, if they are so inclined. Although she finds her purpose in the healing of others, one can often detect a sadness in Chedra, despite her best front. The destruction of life is taxing on her emotions, and she sometimes has to withdraw in order to recover. Her favorite days are ones when she can see the improvement of those under her care...or perhaps reading a holobook while sipping a mug of Deychin tea, with no responsibilities. She is a person who knows how to work hard, but also to relax and recover at the end of the day.

BIOGRAPHY:

Born on Ryloth, Chedra grew up with an interest in the medical field. Although it's rare to see Twi'lek pursue medical careers, Chedra's family was more progressive in their views. She saw knowledge and training as a way of getting opportunities offworld, and was determined to leave home after she completed her nursing courses. That didn't happen immediately, though. She fell in love with her work once she started, and soon she was dedicated to the surgical unit she was assigned to early on in her career. A batch of raids broke out on Ryloth between its people and offworld drug smugglers, and Chedra found herself heading into the middle of the battlefield to help treat the injured. The Jedi Order dispatched the Twi'lek Jedi Master Uor Talaz to aid his people in driving off the malicious smugglers. When Master Talaz was injured, he was brought in under Chedra's care. The pair immediately had a connection, and Master Talaz sensed great power in her. When Chedra touched his arm, it opened up a powerful nudge from the Force, and she discovered her sensitivity. Master Talaz offered her an opportunity among the Jedi, and followed his emotions, believing he was meant to be her teacher. She trained under him for twelve standard years until attaining the rank of Jedi Knight at age 29.

The pair were stationed on the planet Anoat, where they worked as part of a Recovery Team to assist those poisoned by the toxic atmosphere. During their time on the planet, surrounded by the good work they were doing, Master Talaz and Chedra realized their feelings for each other had developed into something more. Confessing their love for one another, they were married while still stationed on Anoat. Chedra also became pregnant with their child. For reasons unknown, Master Talaz became ill and soon showed poisoning symptoms. Chedra was spared the same fate - although her fetus was not. Although she tried to heal her husband and her growing child at the same time, she was unable to stop the poison from damaging each of their bodies, and she lost both of them. She was devastated and perplexed as to why the poison had not affected her. Grief-stricken, she departed Anoat and found her next calling on Jedha, helping those affected by the destruction of the Holy City. Although serving as a positive influence in the lives of others has helped ease her pain over time, she still struggles with the loss of her family at times.

While stationed on Jedha, she oversaw the arrival of the Jedi Padawan Quin Leonkri, guiding him in the construction of his lightsaber. After their encounter, she decided to take him on as her Padawan. During their mission, she experienced a premonition about the terrorist attack on Mon Cala, and the pair decided to aid in relief efforts there next.

SKILLS:

Force healing - Advanced skill in Force healing, combining years of nursing experience with subtle nudges from the Force. Able to draw split skin closer together in order to stitch it up, stop bleeding, and clear small pathogens from the body, although the last skill requires great effort and is draining. She is not able to do things such as reattach limbs, repair fractures, reassemble organs, or prevent certain death.

Healing of the mind - Although Chedra at times struggles with her own sadness, she is quite adept at recognizing and redirecting it in others. She has the ability to stop and prevent nervous breakdowns, anxiety attacks, and crying. Through the Force, she is able to make small suggestions to the sentient's hormones, causing an overall positive change if they were previously upset. She can also assist with things such as forgetfulness, reaching into the person's memory and clearing away the cloudy haze that they might be struggling with. On more than one occasion, she's helped to clear a hangover from some poor soul that had too much to drink, as well.
