"We are gathered her today... to... we are gathered HERE today to... my apologies," Kurt Wagner stood in front of the largest procession of people he had ever seen before. The, normally, quite expansive grounds surrounding Breakstone Lake were now occupied quite tightly by the largest gathering of mutants that Xavier's Institute for Higher Learning had ever seen. That the world had ever seen. Kurt Wagner had at many times in his life felt like an outcast because of his appearance, but today he stood in front of so many people of different sizes, shapes, and backgrounds that nobody could truly feel strange. Kurt smiled weakly as he looked to the casket that held the man who made this gathering possible in more ways than one and found his resolve.
"We are gathered here today to celebrate the life of one extraordinary man. Professor Charles Francis Xavier. A man whose reputation is only exceeded by the love that existed in his heart for all who walked God's green Earth. My name is Father Kurt Wagner and While Charles himself was not a Catholic, much like most of you I'd wager, it was Charles' intention and my honor to speak with you on this solemn day.
"Charles Xavier, like many of us, was born with a gift. An ability that far surpassed the abilities of any modern technology and will dwarf any future innovations. I am not talking about his impressive telepathic abilities. No. I am talking about Charles' gift to unite people. To take different men and women from all walks of life, give them purpose, and guide them to a better future. It is apt that we stand here to honor him," Kurt lifted a blue hand to the Xavier Institute that stood a few yards behind them, "The place where so many of us came together to join him on that journey to a better future.
"His 'X-Men' they called us. To most of us though it was more than just a team. We didn't pull on ill-fitting, garishly yellow, and X-emblazoned uniforms because we were commanded to. We stood together throughout the years because Xavier did not create a team, he created a family. A family that grew and grew just as the scope of Xavier's vision did. The only tragedy...," Kurt gave into one last moment of weakness before swiftly brushing away a few rogue tears.
"The only tragedy is that Charles Xavier no is longer on this journey with us. To a world where nobody is judged for the abilities that they possess, but by what they do with those gifts. Let us all honor Charles Xavier by continuing as he made us. United."

The rest of the funeral proceeded about how funerals are expected to go. The pallbearers: Cyclops, Beast, Iceman, Angel, Moira MacTaggert, and Magneto brought the casket up a slight hill where a few other graves existed and his body laid to rest. All stood in a few moments of silence before the amassed crowd were directed down to the Institute where the post funeral reception was being held.
