Clan Renelo

Gra'tua cuun hett su dralshy'a.

Theme Song
Clan Renelo is no longer the Clan that they were before the treacherous attack on the Mandalore Sector by the Empire. Driven from their homes by the sneak attack of the Imperial Fleet, Renelo has become a Clan of only one purpose.

Vengeance.

The Clan is no longer the aloof group they once were, their hopes focused on reunification and solidity. While the Clan had scattered to the corners of the galaxy in the wake of their Alor’s capture and imprisonment by the Empire, when word came through Old Protector channels of his escape the Clan reformed and brought their strength to aid the growing Rebellion against the Empire. While only half of the size they once were, the 300 warriors of Clan Renelo fight with a ferocity that none can match, utilizing their training and tactics to slip in, hit hard, and fade away before the Imperials can mount an effective response. This has led to a new combat mantra for the Clan. ”Iviin'yc, kyramla, bal’adenn”

Clan Renelo’s history is filled with tragedy and loss. From the original dissolution of the Protectors, the bombardment of Mandallia, to the flight to the stars, the Warriors of Renelo are no stranger to hardship. After losing their Alor to the Empire and their Al’verd to his own quest for blood the Clan did whatever was needed to survive. From bounty hunting to mercenary work to paid gladiatorial combat the Warriors of Renelo looked after their own, wherever they were.

Marcus, the former Quartermaster of the Clan, led the largest group of Renelo survivors on Nar Shaddaa while maintaining custody of their remaining fleet. The three remaining Haranov gunships and the four Shukala were berthed in hangars deep below the upper spires in order to keep them away from prying eyes, while the Renelo enclave sequestered themselves above. If an outsider had stumbled into the group, there would have been no clue of their true loyalties as all of their armor and gear were stored in the armories of their devastated fleet, leaving only another refugee group.

Scouts were dispatched to find other Mandalorian Clans, but their searches turned up nothing. Like Renelo they had gone deep, and chasing the scattered reports led to nothing but frustration. After a year, the scouts returned with no news. Barely a week had passed when Marcus sent them on a new mission. Find the Rebellion.

Although some elements of the Clan had found the fledgling movement it proved near impossible to pin the mobile group down long enough to offer their services. While the Hutts sat barricaded in their own worlds, the Rebellion was at least willing to fight the evil of the Sith. Clan Renelo would rather die fighting against those who had taken everything then wither and die in relative safety. Although survival was a tempting prospect, they would not cower.

When Sisk sent word of his return and his rescue by the Rebellion through encrypted channels, Marcus gathered the Clan and they left Hutt Space, following the coordinates provided by their leader. After two long years, the Clan was once again whole.

Sisk’s first act upon his return was to declare a new mandate. To avenge those cut down in cold blood by their oppressors. They would operate where the Rebellion could not. Do the things that they could not. There was nothing the Clan would not do to rid the galaxy of the scourge that had overcome it. The Shadows would be their closest ally, the darkness their home.

The warrior castes were dissolved. The ranks stripped. All were now equal within the Clan. Sisk declared that all would go by one name. An ancient name, pulled from legends and nightmares. A name steeped in antiquity and death.

Dha Werda Verda

Battle Tactics:
They came out of the darkness on wings of fire, cutting us down before we could even raise our weapons. It was like a pack of Vornskyr coming into the middle of camp. We couldn’t get a good fix on them. It was like their armor just… Faded in and out of light. The Major had taken the bulk of our forces to meet a strike against the city, leaving us few. Out of all of us I was the only one left. And if I hadn’t been in the med tent the next morning, I would have been with the 3000 on the muster field when the late charges went off. –Unknown Imperial Soldier

Stagnation breeds decay. This is a simple truth of life, and one that Mandalorians believe in wholeheartedly. While still adhering to the tenants of the Resol’nare, Clan Renelo is not afraid to get their hands dirty. Because of the near genocide perpetrated against their people any action taken to bring the Sith low is considered to be honorable, leading to the willingness of Renelo to go to lengths once considered unthinkable to repay their fallen vode with the blood of the Sith and their followers.

There is no dishonor in quick fighting retreats. To perform the quick cut one must be as sharp and fast in the fallback as in the advance. When confronted with an enemy a warrior cannot overcome he is to withdraw to ensure that he is alive to fight another day. Misdirection and deception are accepted battle doctrines against the might of the Empire. A believable feint against a secondary target in order to open the main target to ruination is considered a viable tactic in order to preserve the lives of as many warriors as possible.

In order to accomplish their lighting strikes each warrior is equipped and trained in the expert use of a jetpack, allowing them to perform shadow strikes against fortified installations from the air below the level of anti-air cannons but from an unexpected angle to the ground troops below. Once inside the installation the warriors place charges on vital structures, kill as many Imperials as possible, and exit into the shadows in the same manner that they came.

To facilitate their raids, Renelo warriors wait to strike until they have received sufficient intelligence from a team of Mirdala inserted beforehand. These trained teams observe from a distance, marking the routines of the camp and the locations of vital structures in order to provide their strike teams with the quickest routes in and out of the bases in addition to main targets. Strikes are normally performed by as few as 25 warriors, split into 5 squads. They are to place charges and cause as much havoc as possible in order to cloak the movements of a final squad.

This final squad moves in quietly on repulsor packs with strict orders to do everything possible to avoid engaging the enemy. While their fellows draw the attention of the troops left at the base, this final squad moves to areas including but not limited to barracks, mess halls, parade ground, command center, and armories where they place carefully shaped charges in hidden areas that are linked to a remote detonator.

After the teams have extracted and the charges placed by the initial strike force have detonated, the Mandalorians leave with the exception of a single Mirdala who stays behind until the time to detonate the hidden charges is perfect. By placing the charges in areas most frequented by personnel Dha Werda Verda maximize damage to both biological and technological assets. The agent who remains behind does so as a volunteer, trusting in his own skills and technology to keep him hidden from the prying eyes of the Imperial forces and scanners.

The Mirdala are also the only Clan Renelo warriors with orders to never be taken alive. If they are found, the Mirdala are to fall back to a pre-arranged exfil position for rapid dust off, under fire if need be, and if captured have strict orders to end their own life. The majority of these agents have opted to have a false molar implanted which can be broken with the correct application of pressure. This false tooth contains a deadly toxin which kills the warrior almost instantly and also burns their brain matter to the point of being unreadable. This is necessary as only the Mirdala have access to the fleet’s current position and fall back point, and as such sacrifice themselves to protect the rest of their Clan.

Renelo has learned from the mistakes of the past, and have become a highly adaptable and mobile force, not allowing themselves to stay in the same place for too long in order to avoid being pinned down again. They view the battlefield as a fluid thing, and are constantly readjusting plans and positions in order to give them the greatest opportunity to inflict damage and survive. If viewed from above the movements of the clan would not look cohesive in any way, but each soldier knows his place and responsibility. If a single warrior falls the force will not break.

Like all Mandalorians, Clan Renelo warriors are familiar with many varied types of weaponry. This ensures that a warrior will always be able to optimally defend themselves and fight no matter which weapon is at hand.

Goals:
Honor. Honor is what separates us from all the aruetiise of the galaxy. It is our honor that binds us to one another as brothers and sisters, honor that keeps us calm and true in battle. It is honor alone that has led us to victory a thousand times, and it is honor that will lead us to victory a thousand times again. Our honor is what defines us, what guides us, what molds our lives into something beautiful and worthy of showing the galaxy. And those without honor are dar'manda. Lost souls, unworthy of living but to pathetic to die. –Mandalore the Eternal

Before the Genocide, Clan Renelo wanted nothing more than reunite their scattered people to ensure a future for the Mandalorians. Now that the Clans have been broken and scattered, the goal remains the same, but towards a completely different end. Rather than the restoration of their home, which is now destroyed beyond hope of salvage, they fight to avenge their fallen vode. This can only be accomplished through the spilling of Imperial and Sith blood through any means possible.

Clan Renelo has come to the conclusion that the only way to accomplish this is through the precise application of force to vulnerable areas. This is accomplished through myriad ways, from midnight raids to kidnapping to assassination. Through this application of blades Renelo intends to sting the Sith a thousand times a thousand and help lead to their ultimate downfall.

Base:
Clan Renelo does not maintain a single base, keeping their forces constantly on the move in order to avoid Imperial entanglements. These ships constantly are on the move, taking a book out of the old Rebel playbook and randomizing jump vectors throughout the Outer Rim and Unknown Regions. In this way Renelo can keep their small numbers of warriors safe while maintaining the ability to strike where intelligence points them.

The only exception to this rule is Haven, a small space station in the middle of the Shadow Veil. It is incredibly difficult to get to, with only a few routes through safe corridors to reach the eye of the storm. If a Renelo warrior must go to the station, it is onl for a few days, with even the stalwart Mandalorian mind falling prey to the whispers of the Veil. There is no permanent crew, the station being left empty for long periods of time with only the automated systems at work.

Military:
Everything is touched by the holy when it is in the presence of death. –Mandalore the Eternal
4S7bS7Gl.jpg

Clan Renelo is greatly reduced from its former strength, only being able to field 300 warriors from the Clan Proper. The warriors who survived the destruction of Mandallia were considered the Clan Elite, leaving Clan Renelo with only the hard, only the strong to continue fighting for their lost vode. The Clan also no longer has children or spouses to protect, having lost them in the destruction of their home by the Sith, which allows them to put aside all concerns except the man next to them.

With the Exception of the Alor and the hands, there are no ranks within Renelo. Each warrior fights as an equal with his brothers, with squad leaders and mission commanders being chosen on a case by case basis. This eliminated any bickering that might have arisen in the pursuit of rank under the old system.

Armor is still personalized to the owner, but stringent new camo setups are painted onto the suits depending on the combat arena. Urban, jungle, desert, ice, and everything in between has a scheme for the Warriors of Renelo.

Fleet:
4 Shukala Class "Conqueror" Corvettes:
With over half of the original ships lost during Mandallia, the rest of Renelo’s fleet was maintained underground on Nar Shaddaa.
3 Haranov-class Gunships:
The remaining Haranov are used by Mandalore and his hands to move swiftly about the galaxy.

The Hands of Mand’alor:
War, not peace, produces virtue. War, not peace, purges vice. War, and preparation for war, call forth all that is noble and honorable in a man. It unites him with his brothers and binds them in selfless love, eradicating in the crucible of necessity all which is base and ignoble There in the holy mill of murder the meanest men may seek and find that part of himself concealed beneath the corrupt, which shines forth, brilliant and virtuous, worthy of honor before the Gods. -Mandalore the Indomitable

No leader can manage hundreds or thousands of warriors and support personnel without aid or risk great strain and loss in efficiency. The mark of a great leader is not a man who controls through fear, but someone who inspires their followers through trust, duty, and love. With this in mind Sisk has created the position of the Hand. Similar to the position of Al'verde from before the genocide, the Hands, of which there are two, act in the name of Mand’alor as the will of the Clans. The Hands themselves are a symbol. A symbol of the vigilance and strength that a leader requires. It is a great honor to be elevated to the position of Hand. Not only is it an honor, but it is also an important duty. They advise the Mand’alor in tactics and strategies needed to bring righteous vengeance to their enemies. Often, the Hands will take to the front or go where the Mand’alor cannot to direct the Mando'ade and operations for him. And they go because that is what is required. They are not only his Hands, but his eyes and ears as The Mand’alor cannot be everywhere at once. The Hands are named Kad and Bev, or the Sword and the Needle.

The Right Hand is the Kad. They are military arm of the Mand’alor. They direct his forces in battle where he cannot and advise him in battle strategies and create military operations for Dha Werda Verda. Their role is attack the enemy and weaken their forces through direct combat actions such as the lightning raids on Imperial outposts. Destroying barracks and supply depots, assaulting outposts and patrol groups, and raiding supply lines would fall under the jurisdiction of the Kad.

The Left Hand is the Bev. They are intelligence and espionage arm of Mand’alor. They oversee the spies and agents in service of Mand’aor, in essence they are the Mandalorian spymaster. The Bev often has to be unscrupulous and unconventional by Mandalorian standards doing things that are less than honorable. These things extend not only to espionage and intelligence, but also to assassinations and other black ops, as well as other less forceful, and perhaps more ruthless, means of persuasion. Discovering the locations of hidden or vital facilities, "persuading" others to help, extracting information from prisoners, and discerning the identities and whereabouts of high-profile targets is the responsibility of the Bev.

Together the Kad and Bev work together to serve Mand’alor and the Mandalorians and to destroy their enemies.

So Clan Rendo is pretty much fighting to restore Mandolorian honor and glory through merc work and black ops...nice. I take it that the Clan will be fighting various enemies, am I right?

Pretty much. When we're not working for someone else, we're going to be running missions such as recruitment and power building threads to expand our usable NPC base, allowing us to run even larger operations.

I have a ton of ideas. And now that we're working on a clan, I can put them into place.

Alright, first off... the whole bit about Clan Renelo avoiding the internal conflict that is supposed to grip the entire sector isn't going to fly. Isolationist or not, someone is going to attack Clan Renelo during that period. The clans are out to get one another. If not for the hell of it, clans are likely to attack Renelo just because they are different... or more likely, in an attempt to steal their assets or eliminate them as a threat. I've emphasized this fact many times, as have other members of the staff, even before the skip history thread was posted.

The key thing to remember is, no clan escapes unscathed... even the clans in remote areas suffered, because the Sith jumped in with a fleet and firebombed a number of planets in a failed attempt to restore order. Sure, they were beaten back and forced to set up a blockade, but not before inflicting some major damage on the clans, which were too busy fighting each other to notice the intrusion.

The fleet is another matter. Personally, I don't have a problem with Clan Renelo (given its history and size) having a few large starships in their possession. That much was stated in the skip history, that some clans kept small fleets as deterrents against further aggression. However, none of the clans have the resources or the manpower to maintain them. That means that any large capital ships that Clan Renelo may have will likely be derelict in orbit. Some will be too damaged to use, others will be too costly to maintain... but they will be there, waiting to be claimed, when Renelo or another clan expands to the point that it can support reconstruction efforts, continued maintenance, fueling, and crewing. That, however, is not my decision. Ultimately, it's up to Lavi.

I do know that six Kom'rk are too many, though. I can see two, maybe three in orbit (one badly damaged, the others suffering from minor damage, neglect, no fuel, and possibly with their main reactors offline). As with most indie factions, you can only start out with two corvettes and an assortment of starfighters and freighters. I doubt Lavi will make an exception to that rule.

Other than those things, the write-up looks pretty good (apart from a few spelling and grammatical errors, but that's nothing a spellchecker can't fix). It might look less like a wall of text and more organized if you divided each major section of the write-up and gave them their own individual posts in this thread, though.

They didn't avoid the war entirely. But due to their principles and code, they only set down when their direct survival was threatened, such as through invasion or inflict that threatened their resources. I do state that they lost almost a quarter or their warriors in the strife, but since most of the former Protectors stayed with the border fleets, it still brings the clan down to par with the rest.

As for the ships, the new write up says 6 corvettes and 2 frigates. I asked Lavi if I could swap out the frigates for their equivalent in cruisers, since the Mandalorians didn't field frigates. I have no problem with some of them being inoperable, and unable to be crewed at this time.

If the faction gets approved, I will break it up into multiple posts. Thanks for our feedback!

Made it a lot cleaner. Couldn't break it into multiple posts per Vencu's suggestion, but I think it looks better.

Whats with the crazy level of security protocols around accessinf the base? Paranoia only makes you a target.Look at the IK when Syn ran it.

The protocols are in place because of the imp blockade and the fact that there are a large prevalence of force users in the clan. Also, if you live on a jungle world why not work on your hiding skills a little bit? It also helps disguise the true number of assets that Renelo is able to pull into the field at any one time. I suppose I could tone them down a little bit though.

Edit: I looked it over, and I was being pretty paranoid. Lowered the security strictures by a lot. Still hidden, but in more of a mystery way than a "Everyone is out to get me" way.

Well I do have a question about the Assassin branch of Renelo's military. So the rest of the Mandos in the Clan execpt the leader, don't know of this group's existence or its commander. The question for me is, do the other Warrior castes know of the invidual assassins at least being members of the Clan or not?

The clan knows that the Prudii Kal exist. The leader is only known to the Alor. To the rest of space, they're nothing but shadows, whispered of in back rooms in hushed tones. Entrance into the Order is on a case by case basis, and the only way to gain entry is through the sponsorship of an existing member. The warriors that make up the Prudii Kal function as members of the other two castes, until a mission is brought to their attention. and that's another edit I need to make.

No you didn't. This is what you asked:
Another question. As the Mandalorians did not produce any frigates, and Clan Renelo is going to be using old Protector Warships, could we swap out the frigates for their equivalents lower in the chain. IE: 3 frigates become 6 corvettes, as frigates are between 200-400 meters, and corvettes are between 100-200, with the firepower lowered to adjust for the scale.
I responded by saying that I was flexible with navy builds, which in no form was saying "yeah you can start with cruisers (which are ships HIGHER IN THE CHAIN compared to frigates)." All the cruisers have to go, no exceptions. I don't appreciate that you used my response in order to legitimatize your actions when what you asked and what you did are totally different.

In other news, you need to provide links to all of the ships that you are adding to the faction. Some of them are named in the Mandalorian technology write-ups while others are not, which is misleading. Also, 24 gunships are too many for any faction, considering that a single gunship is a powerful aerial asset. 8 gunships is more acceptable. Those that are not listed in the Mandalorian technology write-ups have to go through the technology write-ups and properly linked and approved.

Finally, I don't allow secret bases, in the sense that outsiders cannot know about the base. They create too many headaches. Remove it or change it.

I misread. My brain saw cruisers instead of corvettes and since the Protectors already had cruisers that before the fracture, I just thought I could bring them over. My mistake. I'll make the needed edits. Can I make it so that the planet is known, but keep the jungle camp as a front and some of the security procedures to help keep the main base a little harder to find? I'm just worried about the Empire coming after me like they did the Tion Coalition. After all, we're going to be Sith Hunters, and Sith don't take kindly to being hunted down.

Edit: Edits have been made. Removed the cruisers, and the gunships no longer in the tech writeups. They used to be there, no clue where they disappeared to. In their place, I added corvettes and a different type of gunship in smaller numbers. Bringing the total to 10 corvettes, which would be the 6 corvettes allowed and the equivalent in frigates. Added links to the tech writeup for all ships, and made it so that the planet is known, but the exact location of the base is still at least kept hidden without a search. I hope all that is acceptable.

I'm okay with the base being hidden from view, but you cannot put stringent measures to "ensure" that the base cannot be discovered. It blurs the barrier between IC and OOC.

And do I have something in their about it being ensured the base can't be found? If I do, my bad. I was just trying to make it tough to find and make it cost more resources to destroy than it would be worth.
