Connor was a mirror of Nash when he saw her. He froze in place, his ears twitched slightly and he blinked a few times as he tried to regain his bearings. Connor gave a small smirk at her compliment, the tips of his ears turned slightly pink, and he stepped forward as Nash demanded guidance. That was something he could do.

Connor’s green eyes were focused on Nash’s face when he spoke, his biological hand helping her through the steps as best as possible. “First is over.” He whispered to her. “Then under.” He drank in how beautiful she was. “Through.” His head tilted slightly to the side. “Around.” His voice grew quieter and he leaned forward a bit. “Then through again.” His heart raced like thunder. “Then pinch and tug.

Before he could close the gap to kiss her, Nash stepped back, whistled, and complimented her work. Connor cleared his throat, his ear were beat red. “Thanks.” He whispered with a small nod of his head. He buttoned his vest back up over the tie. His green eyes turned back to her.

You look…” He paused for a second. “…breath-taking Nash.” Connor swallowed hard. “Let’s get checked in and our scouting done.” Connor stated quickly, changing the topic. “One of us had to be him, so I took one for the team.” He smirked as he replied to her comment about him being Dalon.

He’d walk alongside Nash down the boarding ramp of Dalon’s ship. He’d ran scams before, muggings, even robbed a lower level bank once. But never anything like this, not really. He was just as shocked as Nash was by the glitz and glamor.

Holy shit…” He muttered as he looked around. His ears perked up as he took in the sights around them. “This is how I want to live one day…” He replied. “…like for real not just as an act.

As he walked and spoke, his hand brushed against Nash’s it wasn’t intentional. But when he felt the back of her hand against his, he slipped a few of his fingers between hers. She was the most familiar face in here and while he was in awe, Connor felt a little intimidated by everything around him. He’d leave his fingers between her’s while they walked from the space port and to the check in counter. Only letting loose if she pulled away or once they’d reached the counter.

Two rooms, reservation is under Dalon.” He stated, presenting the banking information he’d downloaded onto his phone. The hostess brought up the reservation and handed them a pair of bracelets which would grant access to their rooms but also allowed them to directly charge the linked account if they chose to gamble or dine in the casino. The reason why Connor picked this place to hit should be abundantly clear to Nash by this point.

We can drop our stuff off in the rooms and discuss the plan there, yeah?” He asked rhetorically. “Thirteenth floor.” He told Nash as he handed her the room card.

Nash couldn’t imagine actually living this lifestyle everyday. Everyone had people waiting on them for every little thing and the women wore earrings worth more credits than she would perhaps see in her entire life. The twi’lek couldn’t believe Connor managed to secure rooms in this place at all and she began to daydream about the kind of views and bed it’d have. She felt her hand bump against Connor’s as they walked and she thought nothing of it until he hooked their fingers. Nash’s face heated up slightly, but she very gingerly drew her hand back, deciding the gesture was a bit too couply for her tastes. However, she remained close by him as they checked in, giddy about getting her bracelet.

“I’ll swing by your room after I drop my stuff off,” She said with a smile before taking the repulsorlift. Once inside, she practically jumped around in disbelief at the quality of the room. A stunning view, a massive bed all to herself, a refresher with a jacuzzi and a hot tub on the balcony? She was in heaven. Nash took a moment to get on the bed and jump around like a little kid before going through the mini bar and all the cabinets to see what items she could steal. She practiced walking around in heels to avoid twisting her ankle on the job, reapplied some makeup and finally decided she had everything out of her system.

A bit later, she knocked on Connor’s door. Once he let her in, she would scope out his room before taking a seat, “Okay, so what time do we wanna hit this? I can take an active role in the vault or I can focus on diversion to give you the window to do what you need.”

When Nash pulled her hand away from his, Connor didn’t outwardly react. He should have known better, they didn’t know each other like that. But it was fine, it was cool, he needed to focus on the job now anyways. So Connor put his mind to work.

He’d researched this place, it was ideal for him because just about everything was digital, including their vaults. The bracelets, when scanned withdrew from accounts directly and the wired into a vault on a lower level. The downside was, without an employee pass, getting to or close to that lower level would be next to impossible. He’d have to steal an employee keycard, or at least create a false one.

After giving Nash her bracelet and room key, he’d do a little scoping of his own. She’d give him a smile in return before heading up to her room. What in the hells was going on with him? He had to know the depth of the security here and so Connor specifically counted cameras on the gambling room floor and in the lobby near the elevator. It gave him a rough idea of what they were working with.

After that he headed up to his room, plugged his phone up to the data terminal in his room and got to work. First, he created a separate virtual operating system on the terminal. It would allow him to work without too much concern about tripping any flags. Then he sliced into their digital network and ran the signal from his terminal through a few dozen rooms on different floors to buy himself time.

Only then did he place a cigarra in his mouth and begin to work. Or he would have if a knock on his door didn’t draw him away from what he was doing. He opened the door to find Nash outside his room, his ears twitched a little, and then he nodded for her to come in.

Perfect timing.” He told her as he sat back down at his desk. “You know how yesterday you asked if I could show you what I did to get into the ship?” He asked her. “I might not be able to teach you that yet, but I can show you how to slice.” He offered. It wasn’t exactly an altruistic offer, ensuring she could at least slice a door would be incredibly helpful on the job. “So, I guess before we start, what do you know about slicing?” He asked as he started work.

Connor would give off completely different energy while he was working. He wasn’t sappy or bold. He wasn’t thinking about last night or this morning. He wasn’t even thinking about what had happened on their way in. Instead, he was focused entirely on what he had to do to ensure their success. It was written in his posture, tone, and even on his face.

I’m slicing into their employee database to steal employee keycard information and upload it onto our bracelets.” He explained. “It’ll give us access to their employee repulsor to the floor their vault is on.” His ear flicked as he continued. “That’s our first step. Then we’ll have to slice their vault to get in. After that we just have to get out without being seen.” Connor stated, glancing to her.

Connor would work a tad bit slower than he probably should. But he’d pick an employee that had access to the level they needed without having access to the vault. It was a custodian of course. Connor would pause to explain what he was doing and why. Most importantly, he told Nash how it could help her with changing her grades and attendance. If Nash watched, she would see that this was what Connor was truly gifted in. He wasn’t perfect at it but he understood what he was doing on a deep level, something that only occurred when you passionate.

This was his fighting pit. This was his Huttball.

By the time he’d finished, the program that detected outside of network access had picked up on him. But it hadn’t narrowed down where he was located and it wouldn’t, he’d delete the virtual system and the program would lose him entirely. This would mean that the hotel’s security would likely be on a slightly higher alert than they otherwise would have but Nash and Connor had their keycard access.

We do this tonight, before security gets too high. If we are lucky, we won’t get spotted and can stay the night here.” He stated with a small smirk. “You ready Thumps?

@Sreeya
Barely Success - 6/20 (30/100)
Got keycards but security will be slightly increased.

When she realized how much prep Connor did for the mission, she felt silly for just jumping around on her bed or marveling at having her own private jacuzzi. Clearly the half Sephi had used his skills to live the high life often. She intently paid attention to his explanation, though she was embarrassed about how often she had to ask him to go over it again, “I know how to slice into speeders and most low level buildings but nothing beyond that,” Nash said with a shrug. Fortunately, Connor had a lot of patience for her, so she actually learned a few things. Learning how to change her grades was incredible, though she didn’t trust herself not to fuck it up somehow so she’d hold off on that for now.

“You’re..pretty damn cool,” Nash said after a moment of silence, “You gotta be real smart and savvy to be good at this stuff and you’re a pro,” She said with a smile, genuinely admiring his work, “I suppose you’ll be expecting me to bring the muscle,” Nash said with a chuckle, “Should’ve picked the dress with the leg slit,” She said with a wink.

“All right, let’s go!” Nash said, actually eager to pull a job like this.

Before long, they were back in the lobby while a party was in full effect. While Nash looked the part, she felt entirely out of place. She had to keep her head up high and not come across like the street urchin she was. Sticking close to Connor was helpful because he slid right into work mode just like that, “Man.. I’m so nervous..” Nash admitted quietly, doing her best to act like she belonged. This was the kind of scene someone like Arak would navigate easily, but she felt as if the other guests could see right through her. They had run through all the scenarios of the operation except for the social aspects and she felt utterly lost.

Connor didn’t mind slowing down and doubling back to show Nash what he was talking about. Part of him wanted her to see him in his element. This was where he was most proud of his work, when a plan came together.

Hey, it’s cool.” He told Nash when she said what she could slice. “I started with boosting speeders and slicing bank tellers.” He admitted, his ears perked slightly. “It took me a while and a lot of mistakes to get to this point.” He explained with a small shrug.

Connor noticed how Nash actually wanted to learn this. She payed attention and asked him questions when she had them. Particularly when it came to changing her grades, that was a trick he used often.

After a moment, Nash’s words drew him temporarily out of his work mode. His ears flicked at her compliments. When he glanced over at her and saw her genuine smile, his ears perked a little higher. “Thanks.” He replied. “And I’m no pro. Just a stupid sewer rat with a dream.” He gave a small smirk as he stretched his arms out in front of him before grabbing his phone from the desk.

When Nash asked about what he expected her to bring, he nodded in reply. “If I have to throw my mind into a machine I’ll be deaf and blind.” He explained. “I’ll need you to cover me.” He stated calmly. “And nah, I like you in this one more.” He told her a smirk tugged at his lips.

Hey Nash.” Connor called out before they left. “For what it’s worth, I think you’re pretty cool too.” With that Connor would take a second to fix his tie and head out the door with her.

As they made their way down to the party, Connor felt Nash right next to him. When said she felt nervous Connor leaned towards her and whispered.

Don’t be. You’re Nash, you’re a badass, and you crawled out of the gutters, same as me. Nothing here can fuck with us, especially not with you.” He encouraged. “None of these rich assholes will see us coming because they can’t even tell we aren’t like them. Matter of fact, pick a few marks, we’ll go for them after we’re done.” A small satisfied smirk touched his lips as he glanced down at Nash. “And if shit goes south, I’ve got your back. So come on Thumps, let’s make some money.

Connor gave her a small nod and playfully offered her his arm as they walked into the party. Connor needed them to blend in for a little bit. While he held some small talk with other patrons, he mainly tried to avoid it. Focusing instead on gambling at a few tables. Eventually he’d lean over towards Nash.

Who all did you pick?” He asked, a hint of devilish curiosity twinkled in his eyes.

As cheesy as it was, Connor calling her cool left her feeling giddy the entire walk down to the lobby party. When he gave her the little pep talk to cheer her up, she couldn’t help but smile, lightly nudging him on the arm as her face turned a hint of purple, “Damn straight, Gears, we got this,” Nash said with a decisive nod before scanning the crowds for ‘marks’. It took her a moment to realize what he meant because she was used to ‘marks’ meaning people to clobber. He was far more discreet and intended to rob them.

When he offered her his arm, she smiled and took it like she had seen in the Holomovies. He didn’t have to know that she was also using this to keep her from tripping with heels on. Nash was enthralled by the gambling tables, never having actually participated. She had been to casinos before to cut deals or deliver goods, but she never had the luxury of actually playing.

“That couple over there,” She said, pointing to a rather large, rich woman with shimmering gems across her neck and fat sausage fingers that had a gem on each one. The husband looked equally loaded, sporting a watch that looked like it was worth enough to pay for a new ship.

“I think everyone is getting pretty tipsy,” Nash whispered, “Think we can try making for the employee levels now?”

His little pick me up talk seemed to work. Connor watched as a smile graced Nash’s lips, the slight upturn of his own vaguely mirrored it. But when her arm slid into his, Connor’s ears would begin to pinken.

On the Casino floor, Connor would try his hand at playing at a few different tables while they burned time. He chose a game of pure luck, Craps. He placed his first few bets on a simple line bet. None of them paid out at all. Dalon would find that his bank account would be a few hundred credits even lighter now.

Connor gave a faux cough, thankful when Nash interrupted his loss streak to point out her marks. Connor excused himself from the table and took a discreet photo of the obese couple. He’d use it to find more info on them after the Heist was over.

Nice choice Thumps.” He smirked and playfully elbowed her side.

Nash’s comment about the patrons being buzzed was spot on. Connor looked around and then glanced to the repulsor lift. She was also right, now was the time to start this thing.

Yeah, let’s go.” Connor replied as he led them away from the party and towards the repulsors.

Connor would let Nash step in first and then walk in behind her. “You wanna do the honors?” He asked his green eyes glanced at the scanner before returning to her.

Regardless of who did it, Connor would punch in the vault floor and the repulsor would take them downward. He’d glance at Thumps as relaxing repulsor music obnoxiously played from a speaker. His fingers padded rhythmically against his suit pants leg, he was nervous and impatient.

You want to try and hit their armory first or go straight for the vault?” Connor asked breaking the silence.

“Don’t mind if I do,” Nash said with a smirk as she swiped the card to take the repulsorlift down. Like him, she was nervous but mainly because she hadn’t exactly pulled a ‘heist’ before. This was the kind of stuff her more sneaky friends usually pulled. Nash was usually stuck ‘keeping watch’ which she actually did rather admirably. However, a part of her didn’t want to fuck up around Connor, so she kept her insecurities under the surface.

“The vault,” Nash said, “I don’t exactly have anywhere to carry stuff and we need to take advantage of everyone being shitfaced,” She said as they descended down to the lower levels. The doors opened and everything seemed okay at first. Nash stepped out and glanced to the side only to look directly at a security guard staring right at her.

“Hey, you’re not supposed to-”

THWACK!

Nash punched first, thought later. She had a look of mild panic and glanced up to see that there was a second security guard promptly comming for backup after watching his friend get bodied.

Connor always felt nerves kicking in the hardest in these moments, right before the adrenaline hit on jobs. He tried his best to contain it but it bled out in small fidgets and ear twitches. He took a deep breath to settle himself as the floors ticked down, he glanced over to Nash and nodded.

"Yeah, sounds go-"

DING

The elevator doors slid open and Connor's eyes pulled themselves from Nash and that hot dress she was wearing and to whatever lay ahead. Which was the surprised face of a guard. Connor's eyes went wide with shock, he wasn't expecting this.

Hey, you’re not supposed to-

THWACK!

Nash's fist shot out and caught the dude in the face, there was a wet crunch as something clearly broke. Connor glanced over at her in disbelief for a brief of moment before his instincts finally clicked. The sound of the other guard speaking into a radio caught his attention.

Connor threw the phone he still had in his hand at the other guard, the corner of it bounced off his cheek and would momentarily startle him. Connor charged the dude after a moment of hesitation and threw a wild hook with his cybernetic hand. To any experienced fighter one thing would be clear, Connor wasn't a martial artist. However, a metal fist colliding with your face tends to be pretty effective regardless of experience levels.

That was also the case here.

"Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!" Connor mumbled as he dropped to a knee to tug free the guard's blaster pistol. "Think. Think. Think." Connor muttered as he patted the dude down for anything else that might be useful. This was not Connor's element and that nervous energy was quickly roiling into panic.

He had to chill. But this was so scuffed.

Nash may not have been good at slicing, organized planning or big picture things. However, she was good at improvising and thinking on the fly. Fortunately, Connor moved past his initial shock and attacked the second guard. Nash grabbed the blaster off the one she downed, ignoring Connor for a moment while he had a tiny freakout. She had to stay focused in case there were others around. As if on cue, another guard stepped into the picture and she pointed her blaster at him.

“Hey, see what we did to your buddies?” Nash called out to him. The guard had been reaching for his blaster but he held his hands up instead, “Congrats, bitch, you’re an accomplice now. Get that vault opened,” She stated flatly, keeping the blaster pointed. The man hesitated, opening his mouth to say something, but Nash fired a bolt inches away from his foot. He screamed and it looked like he soiled himself, “Move it.”

The guard was almost in tears as he shuffled towards the vault, “If any alarms go off, I’m blowing your brains out,” Nash said behind him as she made him walk to the vault.

Connor heard Nash move past him but he didn't react, he was busy pluck an extra few energy cells from the guards belt. Connor took deep breaths and tried to ignore the phantom ache in his shoulder where his arm once had been. They had this, no worries. Connor pushed himself up and made his way to walk beside Nash as she forced the guard to get to moving at gunpoint.

"Fuck that's hot." He said in the moment, not realizing his inside thought had slipped to the outside.

Once he realized what he'd said, Connor would close his eyes for a moment and shake his head in embarrassment. Fuck me. He wordlessly offered Nash one of the two energy cells he'd picked up off the guard. After a few more steps, Connor felt calm again his mind was working mostly right.

The sound of a door opening from somewhere down the hall and around a corner was accented by the sound of boot foot falls. Connor's ears were already pinned to the sides of his head, now they twitched with maddened irritation. His back hit the wall and he turned to look at Nash, he held up three fingers. At least that's how many he thought there were.

While calm, Connor was still out of his element. Until they hit the vault, Connor would follow Nash's lead on this. If they got into a shoot out, he'd back her up.

Nash was feeling as if she had everything under control. Until Connor made his comment. Her face heated up and she looked over her shoulder to give him a look. For a brief moment she didn’t know who deserved a slug more - Connor or this soiled guard. Nevertheless, she nudged him along, pausing only when Connor mentioned hearing others approaching.

“Call your buddies and tell them there’s an emergency in the lobby,” Nash said firmly, pressing the blaster to the back of the man’s head. The guard was clearly perplexed at them being able to tell others were approaching as he hadn’t seen Connor’s Sephi ears.

“How did you-”

Nash made a sound that almost mimicked the sound of pulling the trigger and the guard squealed and quickly got on the shared channels.

“Hey guys..there’s backup needed top level in the casino floor…apparently an altercation near the roulette tables..”

“Really? Thought for sure we were commed to come here but it cut off without a message.”

The guard paused and Nash pressed the blaster against the back of his head. He quickly began talking again, “Yeah that was…a misfire. It’s meant to be in the lobby.”

“...Roger that.”

Nash wasn’t convinced the other guys bought the story but Connor would hear the feet shuffling away nonetheless. The guard they had quickly worked to get the vault opened and fortunately it all happened without incident. Nash glanced over at Connor. She had gotten them this far - she hoped he had an extraction and exit strategy.

Connor didn't miss the look Nash shot him. Welp he deserved that. When Connor passed along the info about the approaching guards, he was impressed again by how quickly she reacted and adapted. She forced the guard to call off his back up, he smirked and shook his head in disbelief. While the vault door rolled open Connor's attention would turn to the guard.

"Bags asshole." Connor spat at the guard. "Where are they?"

The guard would point to the room one of the earlier guards had stepped out of.

"Thanks." Connor said before he moved over and pushed the door open. Inside, he spotted a few lockers, a table to sit at, a microwave, and a caf pot.

Connor slipped inside and slid his computer spike into one of the digital locks. With the other he touched it and let his mind slide into the simple lock. It didn't take long for him to have both popped open. When Connor emerged he'd have a pair of duffel bags and a pair of custodian uniforms.

"He's seen our faces." He nodded towards the guard. “Check him for ID." He said as he passed them by. “Everyone has a place they call home after all.” He glanced back and gave Nash a wink. “Be a shame if all that information became public to our friends.

Connor would run the guy’s name and face against employee records. They didn’t have to kill him, just make him think they would or worse. They still had a lot to do namely load up these bags, change, potentially slice the security network to delete footage, and then get the fuck out of here. Thankfully, Connor was fairly sure he could use his phone to get back into the network and delete the footage though.

Nash tensed when Connor mentioned the guard had seen their faces. Was he going to shoot the guy right here? The twi’lek wouldn’t necessarily stop it, but the implications were far darker than she was used to. She had to remind herself she was Sith and being shady was part of the job description. The half Sephi instead dropped strategic threats that made the guard visibly nervous. There was no denying he was a loose thread, but she doubted it could screw them over once they left the airspace. She kept the guard’s ID, giving him a menacing look that seemed to do the trick.

Nash didn’t focus on anything beyond the job for now, quickly loading up the bags. They had mere moments before the backup guards from earlier realized there was no incident in the lobby and came downstairs.

“Where did you get those?” She had to ask when Connor showed up with the uniforms. Nash finished packing the bag and grabbed the uniform, shrugging out of the dress and changing right in front of Connor. He had seen it all after all. Nash put the uniform on and blinked in surprise, “You actually got my size,” She said with a smile.

So far everything appeared to be going smoothly. Almost too smoothly. However, Nash wasn’t going to push her luck. She let Connor lead the way back out, having stuffed her dress along with the stolen goods into the bags. Real anxiety began to set in because they had to find a way out without getting caught.

Connor’s lips tugged slightly upwards, Nash got the message. She roughly ran his pockets for IDs. Connor moved into the vault, he knew that he had shot and probably killed people in the past. But that was during a shootout, killing someone for just doing their job? Being in the wrong place at the wrong time? That just didn’t sit well with him.

Toss me your radio, drop your belt, and kick it this way.” Connor told the guy.

Okay man, just don’t shoot.” He replied as he did exactly as Connor asked.

Connor snatched the belt up, blaster and all, then he tossed it towards the back of the vault. Well out of the guys reach. Once that was taken care of Connor began take arm fulls of golden coins and dump them into his bag.

Are these fucking peggats?” Connor asked in almost disbelief.

Just because Hutt money was here, didn’t mean they were involved, Connor knew that. Peggats, Aurei, and Zemid were universally accepted as currency because of the precious metals they were cast from. Still seeing them raised a few alarm bells for sure. But it didn’t stop Connor from filling his bag as much as possible.

After that was done, Connor started stripping down as well to change into the uniform. He did glance up at Nash for half a second out of pure instinct, just meaning to check how she was doing. He got a friendly reminder of the night before and that morning.

When she asked where he’d gotten these and how he’d found her size, Connor’s ears twitched. “I’m very observant.” He teased in reply. In all honesty, he’d just eyeballed it and got super lucky. “The break room had lockers, sliced em and found these.” He explained as he finished the change and threw his suit in his bag.

As they started out of the vault Connor pointed to the unconscious guards with his free hand. “Grab a badge, cover the picture on our way out. Maybe we can bluff it.” He suggested as he jogged towards the repulsor.

A swipe of the bracelet later and they were headed back up to top level. Connor glanced over to Nash while they had a few seconds. “See, told you that you were a badass.” He said as he playfully nudged her with his elbow.

Then the radio clicked to life. Connor listened as someone reported that the top floor was clear. To set up a check point at every exit. No guest or employee was to exit the casino until they’d been checked over.

Fuck.” Connor muttered as the doors slid open. “We gotta get out before that check point is set.” He whispered. “And we can’t draw too much attention.

Nash grabbed a badge, rolling her eyes at his instructions. She wasn’t that dumb to where she needed to be told to cover up a picture of someone that didn’t look like her. Was that what he thought of her? Her mind went into a brief, insecure spiral but she reminded herself that no, she was SMASH. She didn’t care what anyone thought! As if on cue, Connor reminded her she was a badass, but this time she gave him a half smirk, “Damn fucking right I am,” She stated boldly.

Of course the guards were back. They had little time to do anything but improvise. A door hissed open and they were met with several of them. Nash hoped against hope Connor wouldn’t do something stupid like start hyperventilating, but she kept it cool for now.

“What’re you doing?” One of the guards asked.

“What does it look like I’m doing?” Nash said back, scowling, “You think I get paid enough for this this? Huh? While everyone else is up there with the slot machines and their fancy glasses and wines, I gotta be down here hustlin’ day and fuckin’ night for peggats! Why in the lord's green galaxy we gotta use peggats out here man? Everyone else is rollin’ in that fine ass ISC crown and the big man always keepin’ us down. Literally. My buddy Rolf here and I don’t see the fucking light of day,” Nash had no idea what cover name Connor had, but it didn’t matter. He was Rolf now. She was selling this, “And look at y’all with your cheap, plastic vests and second hand blasters. Y’all really think that’ll stop a bolt? I’m telling you, it’s a fucking conspiracy! And-”

“Holy shit okay! Fuck’s sake just go,” The Guard growled, “We don’t have time for this,” He bodily shoved both Nash and Connor to the side and scurried down to the lower levels. Nash could have sworn she heard one of the guards mumbling ‘maybe she’s right’ to his Captain. The Twi’lek didn’t waste any time, quickly shuffling towards the repulsorlift and swiping the employee badge, “Make it so they can’t come back up,” She said to Connor. He had to have a way to disable this thing, right?

Connor didn’t see when Nash rolled her eyes, he was too focused. His mind was trying to come up with a plan on the fly, they had the loot and now they had to just make it out. That was what mattered to Connor, the literal bags of money they had over their shoulders.

It was something that was broken when they made to the repulsor and he complimented Nash. At least temporarily broken. Her half smirk and confident reply boosted his own confidence in return. This time when the doors opened to guards, Connor didn’t freeze up. He let Nash rant, his fists clenched and a tired expression on his face. As the pushed by he shook his head.

We don’t get paid enough for this shit Cindy!” He growled just loud enough for the guards to hear as they went into the shaft. As they disappeared Connor touched the recall box with his hand. “Yeah I can, cover me for a second.” He told her.

Connor’s eyes went white and his body rigid as his mind was flung into the device. His consciousness extended through the wires, the processors, and all the various connection points. He started turning off access codes and command functions in mass. Not caring what they actually did so long as the repulsor didn’t work. When his mind retracted Connor would blink a few times.

There. They ain’t coming up now.” Connor told her, his voice wavered a little. “Let’s get the fuck out of here.

Connor would start moving towards the exit. He was a little tired but also excited. This was a massive pay day and he was ready to count it up, split it, and celebrate with Nash. They made a pretty decent team.

Connor would flash the ID to the guy at the exit and glare at him with an actual tired expression on his face. The employee at the exit made to check his bag. Connor shot the guy a harder look.

Dude it’s gym clothes. We’re just getting off a thirteen. Don’t do this. It’s been a bad enough day today.” Connor stated.

The elderly guy glanced around and gave Connor a sympathetic look. “Alright, get out of here but don’t tell anyone I did this.” The older employee said after giving him a kindly smile and a wink.

Thank the gods…” Connor muttered as he walked out of the Casino. “Let’s get to the ship.

They were almost home clear.

While Connor’s eyes went white and he did his thing, Nash stood there in awkward silence. It was the Force in a way she didn’t understand and she found it both intimidating and fascinating. She never thought the Force could be applied in a technical way like this and she found herself staring at him in wonder. The eyes were almost eerie and she realized he was actually vulnerable in this state. Nash made sure to keep an eye out, preparing to clobber if any surprises cropped up.

When the employee insisted on checking their bags, Nash opened her mouth to bullshit again, but Connor surprisingly beat her to the punch. He played the tired worker role flawlessly and they were allowed through. The moment they got the clear, Nash didn’t look back, quickly shuffling back towards their ship. She didn’t even bother with the rich couple she ‘marked’ earlier, far more focused on making off with the vault goods before they got thrown into prison.

Fortunately, the coast was clear and they made it back to the ship without incident. It was only after the doors closed behind her after she went up the ramp that she dropped to sit down on the floor of the ship, “Holy SHIT!” Nash exclaimed, “Shit shit fuck fuck! I thought we were DONE FOR!” It was her turn to have a meltdown as she began to process everything that happened. She was visibly shaking, her heart beating rapidly, “I thought you were going to kill that guard! I… fuck I’ve never done anything like that before.”

Nash glanced up at Connor with wide eyes, “You do that kinda risky shit on the regular?” She asked, genuinely shaken up.

Connor was beginning to feel better about half way to the ship. He wasn’t actually trained in the Force and this was the only thing he knew how to do. Unfortunately, not being trained meant it was extremely taxing on Connor and he’d done it twice today. When they walked in, Connor tossed his bag next to the couch and went to grab a pair of beers.

He stopped when he heard Nash hit the floor.

Aye yo, you okay?” He immediately asked before he even turned around. “Did you get shot?” He asked, concern DRIPPED from his voice.

And then he saw her sitting there, she was panicked and dazed. Connor knew that feeling. He’d had it happen midway through his first and only bank job. He sat down across from her and let her talk.

Nash, we’re fine, you’re fine. Take a few slow breaths for me, okay?” He reassured her in his calm voice. His ears twitched and his eyes softened as he spoke. “You did a great fucking job today for your first heist.” He told her and gave her a nod.

What she said about the guard stung. But he didn’t say anything about it right now. She was almost in shock and he would just hang out to act as an anchor until she was good.

I’m gonna grab you a cold beer, hang on.” He told her as he got up and went to the kitchen. He’d pop both tops and come back to sit across from her.

I don’t know about on the regular…” Connor started as he offered her the drink. “…but enough to pay on the debts I owe, yeah.” He told her.

Truth be told, he’d keep doing this even without the debts. He loved planning and carrying out jobs like this. He lived for the rush and thrill of pulling off heists and robberies.

This was the biggest one I’ve done yet though.” He admitted with a smirk. “And I pulled it off with you. You really saved the job earlier, I couldn’t have done this without you Nash.

“I’m fine..just surprised..” Nash said, taking deeper breaths and finally calming down. She managed a smile as he cheered her up with positive reinforcements. It was fascinating how he could switch between being himself and shifting into work mode. Through it all his external expression seldom changed much, though his ears often betrayed him. To her surprise, he brought back beers and actually sat down across from her. She gave him a faint smile and took the beer, taking a sip.

“I’m good at improvising but I’m terrible at making plans and sticking to them,” Nash admitted with a chuckle, “I had no idea what the fuck I was doing, Gears. This is all smart people shit and that ain’t me,” She said with a grin, “And don’t you dare try and gas me up about that, I know where I shine and where I don’t,” Nash took a swig from her beer.

“You know your skills could really come in handy fucking some shit up in the Hutt worlds,” Nash mused as she looked at him, “Some of those Hutts and their majordomo are sitting on some fat loot. You get a payday, I’ll get to bust some friends out. Sounds like a win win to me,” Nash loved cash, but she liked having a network even more. You break some people out, they owe you favors and suddenly you had the upper hand in any objective. Nash had relied on herself for much of her life, but over time she knew having a network of skills was the perfect way to survive.
