Well we got into a debate about this at lunch, which it turned into them proving my point that both sides have as many morons as the other.

Anyway, I'd like to hear your opinions and the like.

And fyi, I don't believe strongly in either. Partially because both sides have too many morons for me.
Like at lunch they were calling anyone who doesn't believe in the Big Bang morons, and it was lolsy. So I'm hoping we can have a more intelligent debate.

People who do not acknowledge evolution and the Big Bang (because those aren't beliefs) are indeed morons.

There is nothing to debate, I suggest you simply educate yourself on the internet.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_Bang

Should have learn this in school imo.

I really didn't know what to call the thread. It kinda went off in that direction, so that's what I named it, and I know the Big Bang theory.

Then what's your problem exactly? Have you discovered a more accurate cosmological model than the Big Bang?

Yeah, people who follow creationism are pretty damned asinine to me, in my not so humble opinion. Nothing else explains the whole 'universe coming into existance' dealio.

That has nothing to do with evolution or the Big Bang.

Intelligent religion folks will usually acknowledge their existence while simply believing that God was behind them in some way.

Only idiots would even attempt to deny them.

I'm sorry, I didn't know how to word it for the fourth time.

Imo, I agree though. I've seen intelligent people who are religious they believe God was the cause of life and the universe but didn't just sit down one week and decide to make the world.
The people I share a table with believed that any sort of Religious beliefs meant you were a moron.

That's the complete opposite of what you've said in the first post.

Darwin is my home boy, we are evbros. (Evolution bros'.) But I do support the big bang theory, mainly because there is evidence to support it, and I have seen that evidence. (Thanks NOVA and various books/Discovery shows). I simply don't believe that God pulled the earth out of his ass and sprinkled two humans onto it. It does not bode well with me.

When people look at atheism and skepticism, they often think of a "nihilistic unsure person."

I am a skeptical person, as in I will be skeptical of something until I can find out every fact about it I can. A lot of people misunderstand skepticism, they think it's like you automatically say 'no' and don't back up your theories/views. Think of skeptism like Skully from X-Files, she goes over every possible detail, outcome and theory with a critical eye until she can either accept Moulder's claims or at least support them with her own scientific evidence. It's looking at the evidence. In other words, I will try to convince myself that it is true, and the process I will pick out everything I find unconvincing or not to make any scientific or common sense (*cough* Mormonism *cough*).

And I'm agnostic, I just. don't. know. about God, about a supreme being who created the earth. Nihilism is a depressing thought. Nothing after you die? ******* that, I'm going to haunt houses whilst on the plane of purgatory.

Also, I've never understood monotheism. Wouldn't it be called tritheism?

Thank you Captain Redundancy. You know when someone posts a picture of someone beating a dead horse and then another person posts another picture of someone beating another dead horse, that's beating a dead horse.

I can't believe this conversation has started up again - I've never seen a single subject reborn so many, many times. It's been argued to death, and we all know each other's views. Why has this come back again? What's the point?

Perhaps SIN just likes to argue with people untill they get sick of it maybe?
