New FL Update
Hello, all, and welcome to the first big change in the Jedi Faction Leadership since the timeline started. A change which goes almost perfectly hand-in-hand with something that's been going on for two weeks now that we already knew about.
Attack on Tython
As we all know, the Attacks on Tython are still ongoing, with two of the battle threads still being up. Unfortunately, those two that are already finished were Jedi losses. However, things aren't over yet - so long as the next two threads are either tied or won by the Jedi, then the temple won't be destroyed, though I imagine it will have suffered some damages regardless. So, keep up the hard work, guys, and let's try and keep our homeworld unmolested by our own former comrades-in-arms.
Even then, though, if the temple does get destroyed, that'll give us a lot of story opportunity in reacting to the destruction, both in trying to rebuild and just in trying to process events, so even if one of the other two threads is lost, I say that everybody should just look on the bright side and try to continue building a story out of it. That's what we're all here for, after all, ain't it?
New Faction Leader
Also, yeah, I suppose this is a thing too. You all have known me as AFL in the four or five months since the timeline started. Now, the last remaining member of the original group of faction FLs/AFLs (that's me, surprisingly enough) has stepped up to become/been subjected to popular demand to become/been appointed to become the Jedi Faction Leader.
And, as you all know by now, I'm completely referring to myself with that last sentence. I plan to keep up all the work I've been doing as AFL, of course, along with the extra that comes along with being the FL. That, and I'd like to say thanks to all of you who wanted me to become FL. Obviously I wouldn't be if it weren't for your demanding I get a shiny green nametag.
In addition to that, however, I'd like to lead on to the next part of the leadership change:
New Assistant Faction Leaders
As you all know, the Jedi Knight faction is a rather large one, with 101 characters on the roster at the moment. Sure, it needs updated a bit, but we still have a large number of characters and active players who control those characters here. As such, that creates a fair bit of work that needs to be done between keeping track of missions, getting new members of the faction involved and showing them around and such, all the profile approvals, all of that.
So, first off: No need to worry. I'm not getting rid of @Ferre. He's much too good of a massage therapist for me to get rid of him. And profile approval guy and all that, I guess. He took over my old job but he does it fairly well. Why ever would I get rid of him?
No, instead I would like to congratulate @Vosrik and @Megilwen on their joint promotion to AFL, joining me and Ferre in the Jedi Leadership Team. They've both been putting in a lot of work, IC and OOC, into helping keep this faction up and running, beyond what they were expected to do as normal players - so I'd like to recognize that by making them AFLs with me and making them do all the work while I sit back and relax. Whee!
Anyways, along with that, I'd like to make note of the basic sort of fields that each of the three AFLs will be working in for their duties. Please note that these aren't hard-and-fast spots that they each fulfill and only that, as I fully expect that they will dabble around all over the place, but this is where I've noticed that they'll likely be best at.
@Ferre - Profile approvals. He'll remain where he is regarding that, because he's been really good at that thus far, and I see no reason to make him move from there.
@Vosrik - Vosrik will continue what he's been doing. He'll focus on keeping track of missions and all that, updating the mission tracker all the time, stuff like that; of course, this will also come with the expectation that he will start writing up some missions himself as well, and since he'll be involved in checking up on the missions lately, he'll be involved as a PvP Liaison as needed for various threads, trying to coordinate with other faction leadership in battles and such, much as I was doing with @Ecclessey while he was still a Sith AFL and we had the attack on Garel and some other threads like that.
@Megilwen - Megilwen will be our New Member Guide for the faction, as well as the Leadership Team's OOC-Padawan Master. When we have new members join the faction/attempt to do so, while Ferre is busy working with them on their profile, Megilwen will be the person to start integrating them within the faction on an OOC level, and helping direct them to where they can find information about what is happening ICly that they might not know yet, and other knowledge on the Jedi, something she's already been doing for various members that I've seen. The Padawan Master position, meanwhile, will relate to getting threads set up specifically for Padawans, including missions and the like, so that those who have only Padawans don't feel left out at all if Knight-level characters are preferred from an IC perspective for some missions and battles and such, and can have opportunities to roleplay and grow even without a master.
@Elijah Brockway - Faction Leader. So, like, I dunno, sit around and rock the green nametag? Probably all I'm going to do, to be honest. Oh, and I suppose, like, help keep making missions, build story opportunities, talk with the other FLs to get stuff happening, stuff like that, I suppose. And I'll continue helping the AFLs out just like I expect them to help each other. We might all have our areas where we'll be focused, but that's not all we'll each be doing in our jobs as the Leadership Team.
IC/Story Updates
This part will prove about the shortest. We know what's happening with the attack on Tython, we know that we've already won Telos a while ago and all of that - so, instead, this will be focused on something different.
Fairly soon, I will be starting a thread with @Vosrik where Sihkar and Vosrik discuss what all has been happening lately, while both of them are recovering from wounds they sustained (Sihkar back on Telos, Vosrik on Tython), which I will, eventually, open up to the rest of the Jedi who wish to be in it - at first, however, it'll just be me and Vosrik.
Lastly, a concern has been raised about the direction of the faction and its goals and all that by some members, so I'd just like to make note of this: The ultimate goal of the Jedi Army will still be to go out and defeat the Sith, taking a proactive role in removing them from the galaxy. That isn't changing. However, many of you do know that Sihkar as a character doesn't agree with the extremist slant the Jedi Army - or at least a good few members within it - seems to have been taking lately. As a character and as the new Jedi Lord, he will be working hard to try and turn away from that extremist path, which I am given to understand will put him in conflict with some much more hardline members of the Knights.

Closing Thoughts
As I said, I am glad that you all wanted me to be the new FL. It makes it obvious that the work I've put into the faction hasn't gone unappreciated by the average members of the group, as opposed to only being noticed among those who were the previous leadership team. Now, knowing that we still have a lot more ahead of us, and a good deal more story opportunities to be made just with some current threads we have going now that have yet to resolve, I'm glad to be able to take this role in crafting the faction story, and the role that comes with that in the site overall.
I'd just like for all of you to keep up the good work you have been doing, and to remember to keep up your behaviour when working with members of other factions as well. I know that PvP can get competitive sometimes, and I know I've said this to all of you a lot, but keep trying to calmly discuss things and resolve issues that come up without resorting to reporting the threads or the other people involved. And be mindful of how what you say can be received - you might mean something one way, but given the context of when and where you're saying something and how that interacts with the actual specific word choice of what you say, something can come off quite differently than how you mean it to. And there's a lot of work that we all can do on being more conciliatory and amenable in PvP compared to how we have been.
But, enough of that bad stuff for now, since you've all heard it from me many times before. Here's to hoping I have a good at least five months in this position, similar to my immediate predecessor, and here's to hoping that you still all like me as an FL rather than just as an AFL. Here's to hoping that Vosrik and Megilwen like it in their new position, and here's to hoping that we end up taking the rest of the galaxy by storm in the coming months.
