Admiral Dashiel Lowry

Clint_Eastwood_by_carts.jpg

Name
:
Dashiel Enkhedel Lowry

Species: Human

Age: 53

Homeplanet: Onderon

Affiliation: Onderonian Navy

Rank: Admiral

Height:
5' 11"

Weight:
175 lbs.

Physical Description: Dashiel's form is kept in peak shape with an extensive workout regimen and a strict diet, though age has its limitations. His hair, once blond, has since turned a silvery-gray. His hair is kept short and his face is kept clean shaven. His eyes, though deep set, have a piercing quality about them that seems to stare straight through a man. His mouth is little more than a slash across his face.

Personal Description: Dashiel's dealings with people are oftentimes limited. It's not that he doesn't like people. It's just that he doesn't really have time for them. When he does, however, he is an independent thinker who isn't swayed by others views. He is stubborn, but not unreasonable, and will bow to superior logic if presented with a rational argument. He sees personal relationships more as an incidental result of life rather than a necessity of life.

Bio: Admiral Dashiel Enkhidel Lowry was born the oldest sibling to a well off family on Onderon. His father was a ranking officer in the Onderonian Military and was often away. This left Lowry to help take care of the family.

Dashiel's youth was spent constantly busy. A large portion of his time was spent taking care of his younger brothers and sisters, and what little free time he had he used to study. Through his hard work and his own natural intellect, Lowry excelled at school. His education was good enough that, at his father's demand, he applied for and was accepted into the Iziz Royal Military Academy at the age of seventeen.

The Academy was a rough lifestyle. Lowry spent three years there with no time for rest. Days were spent in the workout facilities. Dashiel, along with every other young man at the Academy, would become the apex of human soldier potential. He would learn the art of fighting, be it with swords, blasters, fists, or ships. Nights were spent in deep study. Lowry became learned on alien cultures and history, on diplomacy, on military tactics, and everything else that would be useful. This sort of constant work was exactly how Lowry had spent his youth, and he took to it like a Selkath to water. After graduating from the program, Lowry took the natural next progression and joined the Onderonian Military with the aim of becoming a Paladin. However, that was not the path his destiny would take him.

Lowry was, like the other graduates of the Academy, assigned to be Sentry of the Royal Palace guard. Lowry was unused to having as much freedom as he had under this job and, not knowing what else to do, focused all his energy into being the best Sentry he could be. His oftentimes cold demeanor and his complete dedication to his job gave him a reputation, and it was not long before he was promoted to the rank of Paladin. As a Paladin, Lowry was the direct superior of a small group of Sentries. However, this was not the sort of job Lowry envisioned. It seemed a mostly ceremonial title, and the actual work involved was more bureaucratic than anything . Lowry soon requested and was accepted into the Onderonian Naval Force.

As a Naval Officer Lowry really hit his stride. The constant strategizing and fighting that went along with the job were exactly his strength. As a Royal Guard, his job was more domestic problems. It was a quieter lifestyle and the lack of activity had left Lowry bored. As an Officer, Lowry was kept busy by the turmoil of the galaxy. It was a fascinating lifestyle that led Lowry to many distant locales and saw him rise through the ranks of the Navy.

Eventually Lowry made Captain. He was in charge of his very own ship, The Luminaire. Captain Lowry led his crew tirelessly. He hand picked his crew to be the best and led them in the deepest recesses of known space. He led battles, ended uprisings, caught pirates, and battled with Hutts. No one was safe from him and his tireless crusades, and his record was impeccable. He his crew became famous on Onderon for their adventures all across space and were treated as heroes. Of course Lowry paid that no mind. He focused only on the job at hand, and once one job was done he immediately took the next. It didn't matter what he had to do, he would succeed. He was too determined not to.

The escalating cost of Lowry's adventures would eventually outweigh his worth to the Onderonian military. He was too good at his job and it was costing the military too much to keep up with his adventures across space to keep him active. They could not get rid of him or demote him, however; he was too well known by that time for that. Instead, they promoted him to Admiral. As an Admiral, Lowry's job was almost purely diplomatic and bureaucratic and he could be contained. Only in times of war, when they really needed him, would he be unleashed.

At first this promotion angered him. He wished to serve on The Luminaire with his crew more than anything. His new job had no action. He was given so much free time and he didn't know what to do with it. He had never really had time off before, he had always been working or doing something. Now there was nothing. His sorrow and boredom turned to alcoholic desolation.

Then things changed. Lowry recieved word that his father had died. He hadn't spoken with his family since leaving for the Academy. It had been a very long time, but he decided to see his mother. She had been living in the same house he had grown up in, that had seen Lowry grow up into the man he had become. The visit shook Lowry's world. He remembered how hard he had worked as a kid, as a young adult, as a soldier. He had dedicated his life to being the best he could be, and now here he was, an Onderonian Admiral. He couldn't simply stay here and be content, no. He had to do something.

Lowry quickly became active in Onderonian politics and military actions. He was invigorated. New life had entered his body and nothing would stop him now. With the same determination he had lived his whole life with, Lowry embraced the role of Admiral and would work tirelessly at his title. He would become the most celebrated and decorated Admiral in Onderonian history. He'd just have to work at it.
