Just a question: how can I have my char be a member of this faction as a representative and the owner of my own faction? Isn't it against the rules to have a char in two factions?

Im thinking more this is a Faction and this is the Faction you are a part of. But your character has their own Business which is not a faction. Your character would be a part of this Faction because you either believe in it and/or it helps your own business.

I agree this should be one faction. I think it should have five branches, of which the IGBC is one. I think the five branches should be large companies (canon or EU canon when we can) in specific markets. Like the IGBC has banking and financial markets. Maybe we have a company that is huge in manufacturing etc.

What do you guys think about using mundane corporate terms? We could create a board for directors from the leaders of the five companies (which are all subdivisions of the same indie faction), we can include members from other factions in shareholders meetings maybe? That kind of thing.

What I would like to do is to try is for us to gather way more people that are generally in indie factions and convince the admins to allow us to have the assets of multiple indie factions. That incentivizes cooperation which will allow indie factions to be far more successful.

I was going to stay out of this but since I was tagged, my 2 credits:

I don't see how the IGBC can work here considering that it must essentially start from scratch and forced to be an Indie faction. It's a galactic-wide institution with it's own worlds, military and several subsidiaries with representation on almost every major planet on the map. Starting the IGBC from scratch would be like starting the Republic from scratch, completely impractical.

It was created around the same time as the Republic some 25,000 years ago so having it be a new Indie just doesn't make sense.
It claims 3 worlds in Muunilinst(Capitol), Mygeeto(Sister planet) and Scipio(Vaults), obviously a new Indie can't start with 3 worlds. 4 if you want to include Aargau.
How could you account for all of the subsidiaries as a new Indie?
As a new Indie, how would the rest of the galaxy even know about it if it's influence hasn't already been long established?
It's Collections and Security Division is it's own military covering at least 3 worlds, I'm sure that's also not allowed for Indies.

Just a few reasons off the top of my head why this can't work. If it does work, I have a feeling it'll be a crippled shadow of what it's supposed to be.
IMO, if it can't be what it's supposed to be, then just leave it alone.

So this is what I am thinking for structure:
- Corporate Alliance Directorate/Chairman/Senator?/5 Chief Executives
Collections and Security Division - Defense
Corellian Chemical Corporation - Medical and Pharmaceutical
Intergalactic Banking Clan - Banking and Financial
Techno Union - Design and Manufacturing
Trade Federation - Trade and Shipping

Now I think other companies can be subsidiaries of these. These 5 branches are supposed to be conglomerates, someone that is part of the Techno Union could conceivably be the Chief Executive of Republic Sienar Systems.

I am also maybe interested in a board of trustees for VIP's that want a say in business and maybe shareholder meetings to give everyone from all factions a chance and reason to interact with us.

Actually, 25,000 years is way before the next timeline. This is more like 1000 years before.

since my character studies various forms of scholastic and scientific subjects as well as a fair amount of engineering and mechanical expertise i'm not sure where my character would land.

but over-all i am interested in this idea.

I think if people could create their own corporations or enterprises and then join together to make this faction as a whole would be a good idea.

I think a diplomatic/public relations/political/media based branch would be good too. anyone else got any ideas on this?

maybe the leader of each corporation would be a council to the faction leader.

This...eh? I think the idea of having sub-groups is a fine idea. Hell, I'm doing it myself. But making subsidiaries of existing companies all part of a very powerful conglomeration might run into issues.
