DESCRIPTION
One of the few commonly available ships made by Core Galaxy Systems, the Fathier serves as the corporations attempt to tap into the largest section of the spacecraft market. Realising that the Fathier would never be able to compete directly with the dominant Nerf-Herder freighter, it was instead developed in order to deliver in the areas that its popular competitor could not; and marketed as the fastest way to haul cargo at a reasonable price. The gambit was fairly successful, and the Fathier enjoys its position as a favourite both to haulers who carry perishable cargo, and businessmen who live life on a strict timetable. As a side effect of its speed, the Fathier has also gained a less reputable reputation as a favourite for smugglers who expect to need to outrun danger at a moment’s notice.
LEGALITY
Legal. This is a fairly common ship on the market.INTENT
I noticed that, while there were a number of them available, the vast majority of freighters in the tech boards focussed far more on cargo size or other features at the expense of speed. As well as this, the only available light freighter on the boards (the Nerf-Herder) is explicitly slow and sluggish. With this ship I hope to fill in the role of a small ship that is still capable of moving across the galaxy at a reasonable rate.ADVANCED TECH
No. While more expensive than some other ships in its class, the Fathier is still readily available and affordable across the galaxy.
