They're not wrong, those games do treat women pretty damn terribly, but no more than most television and movies already do, so if we are truly currently stuck with those general circumstances, then it shouldn't have been taken off the shelves and it should rest among it's vaguely mysoginistic brethren in the endless abyss that is modern consumerism until we make strides or there's a seismic cultural shift.

I must have missed the "rape and murder women" sidemission.

Now, granted there are no male strippers that you can murder (which is really the only solid ground the article stands on), but I seem to recall one of the main characters hitting rock bottom and alienating his family because he's a shitty husband.

Now if players actively go out hunting female NPCs because they want to kill cartoon women specifically, then somethings obviously wrong with those guys. When I play GTA 5, I kill indiscriminately, without regards to race, religion, sexual orientation, or gender.

Except for cops, those guys are always messing with me, trying to say "Noooo man, you can't rob an armored truck." Or "No man, you can't blow up downtown with a tank and 20 sticky bombs."

Reminds me of the story when a Grandmother stopped her son from playing Vice City when she saw you can pick up hookers. Until that, I guess she had no problem with the murdering, swearing, stealing, blatant slaughter of innocents and police through various means, the missions where you are helping a pornographic film being made, and doing drug runs and so on. Must have not even fazed her until she saw her grandson picking up hookers.

When Anita Sarkeesian was on Colbert Report there was a funny bit that they ended up cutting out from what actually aired on TV. Colbert basically asked her "Do you believe that video games cause violence" and when she answered "no I don't" he asked her "then how do they cause misogyny?"
