If media portrayals of attractive people affects your own personal self worth than that is your own problem.

It's a problem when a whole generation of girls see themselves as useless and try to achieve these looks that aren't humanly possible, then yes it is a problem.

Seeing Liam Hemsworth without a shirt on does not affect my self esteem because I will never have to compete with that on any level. Most girls well never have to compete with a super model on any level.

Letting outside sources define the validity of your person is insane.

So because it's always happened, it should just be left to be?

People have been murdering people for centuries too, stealing as well. I suppose just a 'meh' is sufficient?

I wasn't arguing that, my later posts shows that this has been a problem going on for practically forever, and we shouldn't be exceptionally surprised when it happens. Nor should are rights be infringed to cater to a select few.

We can't make the world a better place by simply banning everything that slightly offends someone. People need to learn to live and let die.

There are problems with woman being portrayed in video games, but not to the extent some people are claiming.

That includes the media. At the end of the day its just art, and its made to grab attention.

TWD26 is basically arguing that because the media allows to depict woman in such a light that they have a right to block someones artistic vision.

You don't agree with gamergate or you don't agree with stop gamer gate?

IMO both sides have shown they are full of sexists, racists, anti-semites, doxxers, death and rape threateners, and general jerks that picking either side of that internet squabble is dumb.

Poor Australia though. Between the high cost they gotta pay for games and game related products to the random banning of sales that seems common there, it must not be easy to recreationally game.

They'll just import it anyway, or pirate it on PC.

How much do they have to pay?

The $60 dollars it is here is pretty steep imo.

110 to 118 Australian dollars for Average AAA game price, from what I've seen. Given their exchange rate as of this post is 1 US $ = 1.19 AU $, they're paying a lot more for the games.

This is one of those arguments that will never go away. As long as there are games that are rated M (PEGI 18, etc), there will always be this sort of issue. Someone will be offended by the content of a game, and demand something to appease them. Personally, I feel like things like books, video games, movies, or other media are really trivial to be censored. I go with the mindset that 'if you don't like it, don't play/read/watch it.'

To me, it's a nonproblem that is being blown up into a bigger issue than it should be.

I feel there will always be those fools who pander to the lowest common denominator, giving leeway to single mothers who allow there Xbox to parent their children.

And now new zealands warehouse group, largest retailer in NZ, has gone a step further and banned all r-18 games and movies from their stores.

You know, its good to see Target, Kmart, aand Warehouse getting into the Christmas spirit. Not many would decide to sacrifice so much to donate to others, especially competitors no less, and yet these companies have dug deep to give Gamestop, EB Games, and Amazon tons of money and customers this holiday season.

God bless em and their dedication to charity.

You're looking at $100 for a new title, potentially more GTA was $120 when it first came out.

I'd also like to point out this comes about around about 12 months after we finally gto an R catagory for games...

Also because it's another GTA V incident that happened here. EB Games 'Cocaine'

Australia has changed its laws governing games recently concerning video games and the blood/gore and content they have. As we now have an R18+ rating rather than the highest possible being achievable, MA15+. So we are catching up with the world. Even if outside our houses is Survival Simulator X.
