I was hoping you guys, aside from Matt, would focus on the traits/facts between the two instead of just the picture... not trying to bash your opinions, but the picture does not make the profile alone.

agreed :CStern ... yes .. so what if the picture i use to represent misha ivanovna is totally overused and anybody that wants a female jedi with black hair grabs it and not even realize its really a picture of a sith .. aha.. anyways... good times. good times. but no seriously i think he should be able to keep his piccolo picture i mean... i recall a carbon copy of house once made here.... :CScool

I meant all of it.

So what you're saying is that no matter how well written a profile can be, if the picture is not to your liking, you're not going to like it or take the profile seriously.

When did I say that?

The picture choices, however awful aren't the only thing that bothers me, what you have written underneath them is very chopy and pretty unoriginal, I'm just being critical here, don't take it personally.

But hey, prove me wrong, write an extremely well written profile that accompanies those pictures and see if it's taken seriously or not.

When you said you agreed with Boli. I'm pretty sure he commented on the Piccolo picture alone and nothing else. Though I'm glad that's not the case.

I'm aware they are not original, it's just the thing I had in mind for the characters, but I respect your opinion on them.

I don't like any of it and I think you should go with something else, I'm not saying my opinion is set in stone, I'm saying noone will take this character seriously based on everything you've shown.

IMO the Jedi picture is a little silly, but I'm of the stance that it is possible to look past a picture and take the character it represents seriously. I use abstract pictures on my profiles sometimes, yet it doesn't mean that my character has an eye where his mouth should be. It's the same with the Dragonball picture: Just because its from the anime it doesn't mean its representing anything in any way to do with the original context. Provided the character is written well, is believable and feels real anyone who takes the time to read them will not be bothered by the picture.

Also an original character idea isn't the maker or breaker of a good character. Writing capability plays a huge part in whether or not a character comes alive in the readers mind - An original yet poorly written character comes a distant second to a somewhat tired concept executed flawlessly (or at least in my books).

A).

Not a knock at Mulluns but that is rubbish.

If I had this as my picture.

I'm assuming that picture was meant to show Spongebob Squarepants. If so, then there is a huge difference between making a profile with an unpopular pic and making say... a Sith Lord who looks like the yelloy teletubby.

I thought it was supposed to be the actual stop sign. I didn't even bother to read any of that.

Eh? What does it show for you?

You've been stealing bandwidth, your argument is invalid.

I'm going to assume it was a suitably idiotic looking character from somewhere that no one could ever take seriously, but if it isn't feel free to disregard everything I'm typing.

Basically the way I see it is that Hutts and Gammoroneans (lol spelling) are about the stupidest looking thing I can think of, and yet they're part of the SW universe and accepted as normal. Obviously it's just my opinion that they look stupid, others might think they're cool, but to me almost nothing is more stupid than a talking giant slug with pigman humpmuffins. The pic Phil proposed looks nothing like as stupid (again, opinion).

If it represents the character in a feasible way, then yeah sure you can look past it, if it doesn't, then all it does is serve as a distraction, they're also a way of attracting a viewer to want to read the entire profile.

I use abstract pictures on my profiles sometimes, yet it doesn't mean that my character has an eye where his mouth should be. It's the same with the Dragonball picture

Are you seriously telling me that an abstract artistic picture representing the emotion of a character in feasible way, is the same as mother****ing Piccolo?

Just because its from the anime it doesn't mean its representing anything in any way to do with the original context.
Again, I never said it was.

Provided the character is written well, is believable and feels real anyone who takes the time to read them will not be bothered by the picture.
When Mulluns pulls that off, I'll believe it, but right now from what he's shown, I'm not seeing that. But it's possible.

Also an original character idea isn't the maker or breaker of a good character. I study English and Film in college, I know full well that originality does not represent a defining positive characteristic in writing. I mentioned it was unoriginal as an observation, it is not the definition of what was bad about what he supplied, which so far just looks like an excuse to use a Piccolo picture, but like I said before, he's welcome to prove me wrong.

I think it's kinda funny that no one has really commented on the Dark Jedi yet save for Kaeb.

Heya Phil,

Few questions...
1) what gave the Jedi the desire to be a bladesman before he joined up with the Order, especially since he doesn't like fighting?
2) with the Sith, why is he so loyal to the Dark Lord? I mean, he has a life that pretty much anti-attachment so wouldn't it make more sense for him to just hate everyone and be a solitary figure striving for power?

Honestly, I like Piccolo. So hah to the rest of them

I was thinking of that image as well, haha. I decided not to use it, though. Maybe our characters can work together in the next timeline.

I believe your gunslinger is going to be a little busy with Sith and pissed off ex's :)
