Onderon was defensively prepared. Fortified, strengthened, protected. No enemies would find it an easy target now, not that they would have from step one. Now, however, it was Ambria's turn to undergo new treatment. The latest planet to undergo 'Onderonisation', Ambria would be the second fortification project. Dxun would follow on last, as Onderon and Ambria could protect the planet if absolutely necessary. Not that Dxun would be the source of any majorly optimistic organisation's attacks; Ambria would have to fall first, which wouldn't happen. Not now, not ever. Macello thought, grimly, as the transport from his flagship above descended towards the barren surface of Ambria. Ambria wasn't particularly beautiful and had, most likely, been a relatively easy conquering project; without a government, the settlements couldn't have really been formed into a cohesive unit, and so stood up to the superior Onderonians. Just as well, Macello thought. Too large a conflict may have drawn unwanted attention.
Ambria was a dry, arid planet, the only punctuation of the uniform mass of dry, barren rocky plains and deserts being the great lakes that spanned the planet, the Onderonian main settlement being set up on the banks of one, particularly large, lake. The meeting held on Ambria some time before had been held in the same location, and Eidur was pleased to see that the ‘settlement’ around had grown, almost to the level of a city. Walls will soon surround such settlements as these. Eidur thought, plans for the fortification already in mind. Onderon was sealed down; Ambria soon would be. As the shuttle put down on the dusty ground, sending rocks rolling away and dust rolling off, Eidur made his way towards the main building, the moisture from the lake providing a welcome relief as the warm, dry and hot sand clung to the back of Eidur's throat, an uncomfortable feeling. Drawing a hip flask from his waist, Eidur swigged and stopped, looking over the lake and smiling. One day, he'd look over this same lake and think of the Onderonian Empire which spanned off in different directions.
Plans had been sent ahead of Macello; the Macellinot forts had been put into construction on the planet, and would soon be linked by a network of walls around the settlements and the likes, effectively putting the land containing no settlements as 'quarantined'; that was where Macello's scientist would come in. If biological and chemical weapons could be set up to be detonated upon command in the 'quarantined' zones, then an enemy force would be trapped within a disease ridden land. Macello would also be riddling the same land with explosives, which would only explode upon command too. No civilian deaths, a deadly defence against enemies, too. Ikairus Tell, the Paladin, and one Macello had chosen as his second command should have already been inside, with a report, ready and waiting. As Macello ascended the stairs, he smiled. The Paladin was doing his job well, so far, and Macello hoped he'd continue to do so. The quicker the fortification jobs were done, the sooner Onderon could get on to larger, greater things.
