”Nobleman’s daughter! Bathed in my slaughter! Uneasy, is she! Queasy, is she! All her father had to do was please me!”

Shadows flicked across the cavern walls, projected from the large fire and the dancing mad man that encircled its stone bed. Entirely naked save for a lothcat skull pendant, his body covered in grime and blood, the crazed Kel Dor seemed to continue on as though he was singularly performing an ancient ceremony. In one hand he held a long intricate staff carved from the femur bone of a massive creature. Chiseled symbols decorated it in its entirety, the enamel faded from it’s once stark white to a brownish black. At the top, implanted into the bone, was the kaiburr crystal that once resided within the lunatic’s Sith weapon while the bottom had been carved into a primitive spear.

In his other hand, the decapitated head of a fellow Kel Dor. The flesh was indicative that it was a recent kill, as was the blood still dripping from its neck. In the corner of the cave, cowering in fear, was a younger female.

”Quiet, my darling! Silence! Bir requires silence if he is to hear the advice of the damned!” he snarled, whipping the hand that held her father’s head towards her, causing specks of blood to dot her face and arms. Silence was, of course, something she could not comply with but her wails diminished to whimpers in fear of what this maniac might do to her in turn. Yet the truth was that even he did not know her fate yet.

Satisfied with his newfound tranquility, a massive smile painted itself across his lips before he proceeded dancing around the flames whilst muttering nonsense. For years he had remained hidden, combatting his madness to no avail. The only victory he had found was an end to the voice of the man he once was. And that was enough. For so long had he remained secluded and it seemed that finally his time had come. He would return to the galaxy and see what has become of it since his departure. That is if the spirits deemed it so.

”Fallen friends! Departed companions! Whisper unto me your secrets! Yes! Yes! Share your words with your friend Bir! Tell him what he must do! Tell him where he must go!” Bir exclaimed, holding the decapitated head high and letting the blood drip onto his own face before casting it into the fire. Waving the kaiburr above the flames, he cackled as he looked into the burning embers in search of… anything.

Perhaps it was real. Perhaps his ceremony had truly worked. Or perhaps he was simply mad. Whatever the case, a familiar form began to take shape in the glowing coals. While no features were evident, simply the silhouette of his form, Bir could not help but feel as though this was a man he knew. Then whether the connections were real or not, he placed them together.

”He lives! He lives! This is where I must go! This is who I must find!” Bir jumped ecstatically, bringing both feet up to his rear before touching back to the damp cavern floor and rushing over to the cowering girl. Sliding up to her on his knees, his staff still held high, he wrapped his now free hand around her neck which warranted a cry of terror. ”No! No! Do not be afraid! Bir wishes to thank you! He does! Your father’s sacrifice! It was not in vain! He has given me answers! He has given me purpose! Do you not see?!” Bir exclaimed, yet his smile faded immediately as he finished speaking. ”Oh… Oh… Oh my….” he continued, much more somber as he began to glance around the cavern in search of something or someone. ”Are… are you sure? I only needed the blood of one… Yes… Yes, yes! I understand!” Scurrying back to his feet, the mad Kel Dor took the spear in both hands and looked down upon the once again wailing young woman with a kind smile. ”Your fathers wishes for you to join him! To be together once again! Does that sound pleasant?!”

--------------------------------------------

Landing a safe distance from his old comrades' domicile, Bir scurried down the ramp with excitement in his torn trousers and bare feet. It had been so long since they’d seen each other. So long, in fact, that when he arrived on foot, his appearance was clearly something of a surprise as guards encircled his position.

”I wish to speak with your Master! Take me to him! I must see him! My oldest friend! Surely he will remember me! Surely, he must!” Even guns trained on the mad Kel Dor held little impact on his excitement. So long had he waited.

Sitting in one of his new homes, Lord Draugr sat contemplating future plans for this new war that had been waged by the Empress. The business of the Empire had to be done, the Sith needed to win this war as much as the others they were in. Seemed everyone was getting a share of the Empire's attention.

As he worked on his battle plans, a guard entered the room and spoke up,
"My Lord! An odd guest has arrived unexpectedly. He claims you are his oldest friend, some Kel Dor." The Zabrak stood confused until a lightbulb went off in his head. A nod came and then he would make his way out. Eventually meeting outside, "Bir Vuul.. is that you?"

He would stand a few feet away and motion for the guards to lower their weapons.
"Where have you been these past years?" The Zabrak asked with a slightly stern tone. A reasonable question as the last time he had seen Bir, it was on Denon. There has been many battles and enemies that had come and gone since then. As well as new promotions for quite a few different Sith/Imperial soldiers. The Dathomirian awaited an explanation.

And there he was! Bir was overcome with excitement as he watched the now titled Darth Draugr descend the stairs. When he had last seen him, Xeno was a newly anointed Sith Lord. Now the man before him had earned a seat on the Council. Things had changed during the mad Kel Dor’s absence, but even he was not fool enough to expect anything less. Bouncing on the tips of his toes, hands clapping as he slouched forward, Bir waited to approach until the Sith Lord had ordered his men to stand down.

”My friend! My Lord! So delightful it is, seeing you now!” Bir declared loudly, arms snapping outward to embrace the Councillor. Perhaps it would get him shot, or worse. It wasn’t unreasonable. To simply approach a Dark Council member and wrap your arms around them was likely a death sentence. Bir was, however, a physical man.

Whether Draugr accepted the embrace or shoved the Kel Dor off, he would continue with excitement.

”Living in seclusion, Lord! Yes! I had returned to Dorin! To my people! Searching my soul! Killing that which made me weak! Yes! Yes! Pieces of me have been left to die on my homeworld! And good riddance! Good riddance, indeed!” Bir exclaimed, grinning from ‘ear’ to ‘ear’. ”But the spirits of the damned have declared I search you out! For why? Only they know! I’m eager to find out!” Fingers rapidly tapping together at his chest, Bir paused for only a moment before continuing. ”How far you have risen, my friend! A towering mountain of prestige?! Yes! Yes! How far can you climb, I wonder?!”

As the Lunatic fringe that was the Kel Dor had come forward with his arms open, Draugr would recognize this as a hug. He had many experiences where another would attempt to hug him. So with how often it seemed to be a challenge for others he would simply use the force as a blockade with a light enough push to only have Bir take a step back, stopping him in his tracks. Any further attempt for physical contact would result in much more severe punishments.

Bir would continue on and explain how he was living in seclusion, and then apparently had slaughtered some of his fellow Kel Dor on Dorin in search of his soul. Seemed like something one would do to rid themselves of a soul, but nonetheless Draugr listened. When he finally finished, Draugr would reply best he could after the word vomiting that had just been on display.
"No matter what had happened in the past, it is good to see you have made your way back. An asset such as yourself is valuable." Draugr would give an icy stare with a nod before continuing. "As far as my prestige, I am the First Blade of the Empire, Lord on the Dark Council."

The Zabrak would let the Kel Dor ponder on how far his success may take him as he could only wait to see himself. Though one would be blind to not see he would look to become Emperor before long. All he needed was the opportunity to show itself and then strike. But that was the future and it's the present now. Draugr would seek to piece apart why the Kel Dor had been secluded and in hiding.
"Tell me, why did you disappear? Surely no treasonous ploys?" Icy eyes staring into Bir would be set until the answer came.

Bir was not so foolish as to believe that his absence would not be questioned. Surely most of those within the Sith held no disdain to his disappearance given the volatility of his splintered psyche, a fact that had proven detrimental in their operations in the past. For one such as him to simply vanish into thin air, not be heard of or from over the many years, only for him to return to the steps of a Dark Council members residence, was something that deserved investigation. Whether or not that return being made to Draugr’s feet was a good choice remained to be seen.

”Treason?!” Bir exclaimed, an overtly shocked expression plastered across his face. ”Treason and treachery?! You wound me, my dearest friend! My oldest ally!” he would continue, imitating a knife being plunged into his barren abdomen. ”No! No, no, no, no! You see, I chose to vanish as an act of loyalty!” As he began his explanation, his wild smile returning, the mad Kel Dor took a few steps back. He would thread himself between Draugr’s guard, prancing carelessly. Erratic behavior from one such as him would undoubtedly make these common men and women uneasy but Bir believed that Xeno knew such displays were to be expected from him.

”My head! My mind!” Bir shouted, coming to a stop as he faced the First Blade of the Sith whilst standing between two guards, both index fingers pressed tightly against his own temples. ”It was home to more than one! This other had proven a liability! Yes! A detriment to me! To you! To the Sith! The Empire!” As the energy he had displayed weaned only slightly, Bir rest his head on the shoulder of one of the guards at his side. ”He had to die, you see,” The soldier shrugged him away with a growl.

”Now!” Bir continued, approaching the Sith Lord once more, dropping to a knee a few feet away from him as he giggled towards the ground. ”Now, my life is yours to command, my friend! Whatever the spirits of the damned desire from me, their faithful servant, is to be orchestrated by your hand, my Lord!”

Draugr would ease his stare, and stand a little more loosely after hearing Bir explained himself more thoroughly. He figured the Kel Dor wouldn't have a treasonous bone within him but if what he said is true, then he had weak side before. That is, if he had rid himself of the weak side. He hadn't lied to Draugr before in all the years he had known him, so why start now? Especially since his life may very well be on the line.

"I see.. well to be sure you are telling the truth you will serve as my Apprentice moving forward. This is a different Empire since you had disappeared and this will be your introduction." The Zabrak would nod his head to the building, "Now come, I'd like to sit while we talk." As he spoke, he would turn and enter the building knowing the newfound Apprentice and old friend had followed. Motioning his hand to a seat he would let Bir sit as he would take a seat across from him.

"Whatever questions you have about what the Empire is like now, I would gladly answer them. I assume you remember most of what it was." Draugr sat back with a confident man spread and head tilted slightly to his right. This was a different 'Xeno' than what Bir knew, soon he would come to find out how different.

Even for one as erratic and unpredictable as Bir, the next words from Draugr’s mouth came to him as a surprise. Did Xeno truly wish to take Bir on as his new Apprentice? It seemed… Well, the Kel Dor was never once to question the actions of others, especially those who were his superiors. Even if the decision seemed a bit brash and sudden, it was a prestigious position nonetheless.

”You do me great honor, my friend!” Bir replied, still beaming as he ever was. ”My apologies! My Master! Yes! Apprentice to the great Darth Draugr! The spirits of the damned smile upon me! Upon us! I shall serve you faithfully, my Lord! Indeed I will!” Did Xeno truly know what he was doing here? Many may suspect not but if there was one thing that could never be called into question, it was Bir’s loyalty. Even so, his mental state was always a thing of great concern to his superiors.

Once they sat in Xeno’s domicile, Bir fidgeted to no end but remained in his seat. True, he had a great many questions. When he had left, Lady Andruil sat the throne and had led the Empire into war against the New Republic but he was only recently made aware that they now had a new ruling Empress.

”Questions abound! Queries plentiful, my Lord! Surely we continue to stand as a mighty domain!? Of whom sits at the helm?!” As he spoke, Bir pulled his feet up to the seat of his chear and grasped his toes in each hand, trying his damndest to remain still though still rocking in place.

Draugr took a sip from his cup of morning coffee and nodded to Bir as the Kel Dor had been speaking, and finally got to his question. It was a pet peeve of Draugr's to hear a beat around the bush, but from he remembered with Bir that was all his speech was. Almost as if he couldn't control it. It would be tolerated for now but Draugr knows at some point he'll lose it.

"We are under Darth Anaris, Empress of our Empire. Darth Raze is still our Dark lord." Draugr set his cup to the side as he licked his teeth with his mouth closed, his cold eyes staring at the table in front of him as he would let out a small confession, "But I have a plan.." His eyes flicking back up to Bir with a hint of intensity, "..and I could use your assistance in said plan."

To the man looking at Draugr, it was impossible to tell what he was thinking exactly, but it was obvious it was something sinister. Something he had kept locked in for so long. Something he had been wanting to happen for sometime now. The Zabrak was by no means a fool, he was intelligent and held his plans to himself as he couldn't afford to have them revealed even if they felt obvious. Any blockade would ruin it. He had to wait for the perfect timing.

"Leave us.." Draugr would speak to the guards in the room, and as they hesitated for a moment he would speak up "Now!" Once his tone was raised the guards would scramble out of the room in fear of what he may do. He was by no means a cuddly man. Once the room was empty with just him and Bir, he would speak once more. "I'm going to take the throne.. "

Darth Raze. The name sent a chill down the Kel Dor’s hunched spine. With how much that had changed during his absence, he was shocked to hear he still remained. Of course he shouldn’t have been. The Sith Lord was renowned across the galaxy for his strength, making removing one such as him a task very few could accomplish. Then there was the matter of Lady Andruil no longer residing on the throne, instead now occupied by this Darth Anaris. He wished to ask Draugr of what had compelled this power shift and as to why Raze had not been impacted by it but before he got the chance, the room was ordered to be cleared.

”Of course! Of course! Your wish is my command! Your bidding, my aspiration!” Giddy as ever, never one to dwell on any one thing long, Bir twitched with anticipation in his seat as the guards all filed out of the room. Something about Xeno’s composure and body language, the way his tongue pressed against the back of his lips, the growl in his order, told the mad Kel Dor something big was about to be revealed. And he was not wrong in this summarization.

”As you should! As you should! Why would one such as you sit idly whilst there are loftier heights to attain?” Bir declared with a high pitched giggle to follow. ”Not an easy task! It certainly isn’t! But nothing easy is worthwhile! Tell me what to do! Allow Bir to be the blade guided by your hand! Send me to her! I will carve her heart from her chest and present it to you in a gilded box!” Bir continued, imitating a stabbing motion into the air, twisting the imaginary knife.

Draugr liked to hear Bir was on board, he assumed his old friend would be but to hear it had assured him the plan would work out well enough. The Kel Dor had a purpose in this plan, but for now his role would remain vague and unclear. The idea was solid, and if unbothered by any other Sith would work without fault. The only thing needed done would be the assurance Raze wouldn't claim the throne for himself.. which was the hard part.

Then the newfound apprentice, and old friend, Bir Vuul had gone on to ask to be sent to kill the Empress himself. While it would be amusing to watch, Draugr knew immediately the idea was going to end in failure immediately. Shaking his head, Draugr would speak up,
"Bir.. do not be foolish. The Empress would tear you apart and continue drinking her tea with your body parts piled up as a leg rest." The Sith Lord would tap his arm rest on his chair with his fingers in a repeated rhythm form the pinky to the index. His eyes on the ceiling, then rolling and back to Bir.

"You have a part, but I haven't gathered what I need for you to complete it." He would take a deep breath through his nose and then a slow exhale, "I am arranging a meeting with the Empress soon. I will be sure to make it seem important and talk of matters that won't matter once I assume the throne of the Empire. I'll have you dressed and equipped with the right weapons for the engagement. There will be no one but us, and then when I give my signal... we'll strike." Of course this was his way of lying to Bir about his role. A bit of a 'look at the rabbits Lenny' moment.

Draugr had a plan to order a set of explosives to strap to a slender vest for Bir to wear underneath his robes. The Empress wouldn't expect Draugr, one of the most loyal servants of the Sith and the Empire for the past decade, to be planning her assassination and replacement. The only Sith capable of taking the throne was Raze, which if he acted as he did when Andruil had stepped down, he would follow under Draugr. Trelain was of equal rank, but Draugr had far more experience, and time on the Council. The Dathomirian was a shoe in for the throne upon her death.

While Xeno was beyond correct of his assessment on how a duel between Bir and Anaris would go, the Kel Dor could not help but feel slightly distressed and unutilized. The delusions of a broken mind, of course. Given time, perhaps Bir may come to understand that he truly did not stand a chance against this new Sith Empress. For now, he simply needed to have faith in his dearest friends judgement. After all, if you can’t trust your friends then who can you trust?

”Of course, Master. Of course, of course. How silly of me,” Bir began, speedily withdrawing his ‘stabbing hand’ as he began to caress his hand of flesh with the metal prosthetic whilst staring at the floor.. ”Silly Bir. Silly, silly Bir,” he continued, finishing off with a high pitched chuckle before returning his gaze to Draugr. ”When the time is right. Yes. Yes. When the time is right,”

Which posed a question.

”Then what must be done to prepare, my frie- my Master?! Hmm?! What can your loyal servant do to bring your plans to life?! Bir queried with a tone of thrill. The mad Kel Dor was a tool; he needed to be pointed and unleashed. He craved it. Xeno only need order it.

Bir was eager to know his part in the plan, but Draugr would rather Bir believe all is fine than know his role. If Bir believed instead that he was helping the best way and going to make Draugr proud, he would perform at his best. One fluke in his natural behaviour and the plan may be ruined.

"You will know when it is time. For now, we will prepare you to be reworked into the Sith without fault. With you as my apprentice it shouldn't be a problem." Draugr would tap his arm rest some more as he sat and looked at Bir for a moment. His face unclear of what he felt. It was intense but also blank. Draugr knows what his friendship with the Kel Dor was before, but now.. the Zabrak was so close to the Emperor title he could taste it.

If Bir's life in exchange would be what it costs.. then so be it.

"Now, go see the others. I'm sure they'll want to see you again. And.." Draugr made sure he had Bir's attention before he left, "Do NOT speak of our conversation just now with anyone. It's.. our little secret."
