Denon
Wayson had called for guidance.

It left him feeling like a Padawan again unsure and still learning but such was life and Wayson needed the advice. He had spoken to the Kashyyyk Senator and realized that the Jedi's current path was not enough. The powers of the Galaxy would not come to their aid nor be brave enough to stand up against the evil of the Sith. Which left only the Jedi and their few remaining allies who all lacked strong leadership. Wayson knew that he was still a Knight and lacked the wisdom of years that his betters had but he felt that his Order could be doing more.

How was the question, and so he called upon a Jedi Master to learn and to seek wisdom. The world that he picked was Denon, it was close to New Republic space and one of the major city worlds of the galaxy. Yet it was neglected. With a government that has failed its people and now turned into a dictatorship. Old rulers holding onto power past their limits and now enacting martial law. It was distasteful and Wayson wanted to do something about it.

He felt it, what could be done the possibility and wondered if it would be right. The people called for leadership and the Jedi were just that leaders and teachers. Couldn't they help to build something that will eventually outlast them? What were five or ten years of a rule when once it was over the Jedi allowed the people to finally enjoy a peace they had earned?

"I can only hope that I will be the same man once this is all over." Wayson said to no one in particular as he stared out into the web way of streets and cables that dotted the skyline of the city world.

War would change him, possible politics will too. Yet what would he be if he didn't give it his all? Those on New Alderaan needed help, the horrors inflicted on Kashyyyk needed to be prevented. As one Jedi he would only be able to do so much but as Nation, a body of law and function could do so much more. What could that look like and how could Wayson ensure once he would not become like the Sith?

The Jedi was in a thick brown robe that covered his entire body with the hood hiding his face. His presence in the Force was open for any to feel, and he reached out hoping to touch his fellow Jedi. Wayson came with only his twin lightsabers and dressed beneath the cloak with the simple robes of the Jedi of the past.

It had been a long time since the galaxy saw the Jedi Master Yvain. The strife and struggles of the Jedi Order had kept the diminutive Master from the limelight, after his more aggressive stance for the Jedi had been pushed aside for Alexandria’s vision. Yvain had left the Temple proper and returned to his task of locating and recruiting new members to the Jedi Order.

He had travelled the length and breadth of the Galaxy and had seen the horrors of the war first hand. It brought back too many memories of the Clone Wars, scars which even over a century later were still fresh.

Yvain had recently heard rumblings that some of the order were tired of the back seat nature the Council had taken in the fight against the Sith. These rumblings were speaking of action in the Southern reaches of the Galaxy, a collection of planets which had well and truly been forgotten by both the Republic and the Jedi.

The thunderous sound of passing chatter, speeder bikes overhead and the rubbing of mag trains beneath was blocked out by the Jedi Master. The little green man was completely enthralled by the smells coming off the bowl of curry set before him. Sat on a high chair, boosted with a pair of baking trays so he could look over the counter, he drooled down at the food.

Wearing a little brown robe and tunic, fitting of both a Jedi and a Priest. “Thank you for the food.” He called to the server who had long gone on to the next customer and gave the little man no second thought. Picking up a large spoon the Jedi Master dove into the food, making all sorts of slurping and chewing noises as he did. A ping in The Force signalled another's approach, but he was too enamoured by the food to stop, so the other Jedi could come to him. He needed to enjoy this delicious meal.

It took a minute for Wayson to realize that the Jedi master was stopped and not moving. Sighing cause he was enjoying the sight, the Jedi began to move towards the Master, how was he going to bring up his questions? Perhaps it is just best to be straightforward.

When Wayson finally found the Jedi Master eating at a food stand. Slurping and chewing into a bowl, it smelled good though not so much that he would go out of his way to eat it. Yet Master Yvain was the Jedi Master, so Wayson walked next to the Jedi Master calling on the server to give him a bowl of curry. Getting the bowl the Jedi looked down at it at first struggling to eat it with the spoon provided to him. After the first three bites, the Jedi realized that the look of the food didn't prevent it from being good. Blowing on his fourth bite, Wayson spoke quietly to the Jedi Master next to him.

"Thank you for coming here, Master." Taking the bite, Wayson savored it for a bit before swallowing the food.

"How are your travels?" Wayson asked, having heard that Master Yvain had been focusing his energy on collecting new Jedi to join in the cause.

Wayson realized that he can take a moment to enjoy the food and pleasant atmosphere of being with a fellow Jedi. It was a rare joy in Wayson's life now with the war. Between meeting with Senators, training a new padawan, and the new project he gave himself. The war could be going better but in a world like Denon, you can easily forget that. A major city-like world with so many billions of people living in it Wayson could barely feel the events in the wider galaxy.

Taking another bite, cracking into something that caused his mouth to burn from the spice. Wayson nearly dropped his spoon and began to blow out trying to control the temperature he felt on his tongue.

"Damnit, what was that?" Wayson asked no one and hoped wasn't noticed too much by those around him.

The rich aromatics of the curry filled the little green Jedi’s nose, it was true bliss for Yvain to enjoy food such as this. He had already finished his first bowl of the beautiful meal when his fellow Jedi joined him at the food stall. Yvain had always had a big appetite and fast metabolism, strange considering his age, but he chose not to question the ways of The Force that brought him to divine power to eat so much tasty food.

Already a few spoonfuls into the second ball, he turned to face the tall blonde human. There was curry all around his face, a sight truly not befitting a Jedi Master but he didn’t care. “I am always at service for the Order.” Yvain replied, wiping the right side of his mouth with his sleeve. “Enlightening as always, have you travelled much child?” He asked before diving back into his food.

Wayson’s outburst brought a vicious looking smile to the Jedi Master. The Knight had fallen into a trap, for culinary expertise was the Master’s foray and he had just opened a pit of knowledge with his question. Spinning round to face the Jedi, face still covered in curry he began his explanation in the same authoritative tone he would teach Padawan’s in. “I am glad you asked, young one. What you have no doubt bitten down upon is the Cherryblack Peppercorn, a beautiful fruit of the Cerasuian Nigur plant native to worlds such as Endor, Ithor and our very own Yavin. Once picked it is boiled in water with essence of Bantha droppings to help break down the cell walls and help cultivate its flavour. Its delicious isn't it!”

Wayson wanted to ask the Jedi Master if he was insane but felt that might be just a bit rude. Still listening to Master Yvain explain what he was eating was not doing him any favors. Especially since it made him feel like a Padawan all over again. He was a damn Jedi Knight how could curry defeat him?

The food was fine up until the Master mentioned Bantha droppings. Slowly putting down the spoon the Jedi made sure to swallow whatever was left in his mouth and placed both his hands on his forehead. In a silent prayer to the Force Wayson called upon all his training not to allow the Jedi Master to see if he really did bite into a Cherryblack Peppercorn. Slowly the Jedi Knight took control of his emotions and looked back at the Master with a face with a false smile hoping to avoid the awkward situation of telling the Master never to tell him about what was boiled in Bantha droppings again.

"Your culinary wisdom is wasted on me, Master." Looking to the server, Wayson signaled to the man.

"A cool refreshing drink sir." Wayson wasn't sure what was best to pick and just hoped the server wouldn't provide him with something made out of the urine of another animal.

"I did prior to my joining of the Order. Now I travel more professionally than for leisure." When the drink was brought to Wayson, he nearly stopped seeing the yellow color and cursed his imaginative brain at the moment closing his eyes and taking a sip of the drink regardless.

Wayson was pleasantly surprised by how sweet the liquid is. Good now at least he has a way to cool his mouth.

"Master, how do you feel the war is going?" Wayson will ask before bravely taking another bite of the curry. Even despite the knowledge and spice, the Jedi weren't going to waste food. Even if it had been tainted by Bantha droppings.

“You only need to broaden your mind young one and no wisdom will be beyond you.” The little green Jedi replied, not understanding that Wayson was in total hysterics after finding out that the peppercorn was boiled with bantha droppings. When he asked the server for a drink Yvain held his hand out to grab the server's attention. “Nerf Milk for the young man. Will help with the burn.”

Yvain turned back to his own food as Wayson told him of his travels throughout the galaxy, it seemed he had seen some of the galaxy which was good. Sheltered Jedi normally turned out to be poor Jedi in the long run, the Galaxy was too harsh and brutal for them it seemed.

At first when he asked about the War, Yvain continued eating. Giving himself time to arrange his thoughts into concise and beneficial terms for the conversation. “Well unless you are blind, we are losing.” He said rather bluntly. “Though I doubt that is what you meant by your question. Poorly and it is only a matter of time until we lose completely.”

Wayson was thankful to the little green Jedi specifying Nerf Milk, taking a good solid gulp to cool his mouth. This helped Wayson to focus back on the discussion at hand. The Nerf Milk had an interesting aftertaste. Hopefully, it wasn't expired the last thing Wayson needed was to explain to the Jedi Master why they had to burn down a bathroom. Definitely undignified for a Jedi.

"Thank you, Master." Wayson said hoping to show he was not ungrateful for the Master's help.

As for the food wisdom, Wayson was the kind of man to see the basic foodstuff and cook it as is with maybe a few seasonings. Anything with too many steps just confused him. Perhaps a childish failure in him but one where he trusted the task to others. It was a good way to build trust, as in most cultures sharing food was a good way to learn more about them.

Wayson found the strength to continue eating the curry, while the Master thought about what next to say. It was clear the Jedi Master was taking this seriously which Wayson was grateful for. The last thing he needed was some old Jedi saying that he only need trust in the Force. Sure the Force was their ally but action should not be substituted for blind faith.

With the words we are losing, Wayson's heart hardened. It was true anyone with a brain could see it and the Jedi felt like they had more important things to do like meditate than actually care for the galaxy.

"I sadly agree Master. This is why I am wondering about the path the Jedi currently take. If our duty is to the Galaxy, to life and light, shouldn't we be taking the fight to the Sith with more commitment? I know we fight them on the worlds we can but our allies are becoming fewer and speaking logistically, our Fleet is unable to combat the Siths and their armies are several times greater than our own. All because they claim lordship over worlds forming into a proper Empire." Wayson stopped for a second to collect his emotions already feeling his own anger boiling over.

After another sip from the Nerf Milk to cool a different kind of heat in him, the Jedi continued.

"The Republic and the ISC will not bring their forces to bare against the Sith and as grateful as I am for the FWA they don't have the strength we need to win. Perhaps and only so long as the war wages maybe the Sith strategy of holding territory has some merit. There are many willing to fight but their worlds refuse, volunteers are great but lack the proper training and supplies, and the Senate will not hear our voice but will extend a branch to the Sith Empire. Should we take on the idea of becoming Stewards and leaders of worlds? War is more than faith and conviction, it is armies and supplies, it's the man and woman that are given purpose and guidance to fight. Some worlds need new government and we can help give it to them while temporarily holding office till our war is over and return to allowing the Galaxy to function without our hand." Wayson finished and took a bite out of the curry mostly to shut his own mouth and keep himself from monologuing.

There was a lot of concern in Wayson and knows his thoughts could be considered problematic by the Jedi Council, but with worlds under direct Jedi rule, they can better raise armies and fleet. Could actually force the Senate to allow them back inside their hall to argue against the Sith and their influence.

This war will be fought in both the hearts and minds of the Galaxy and in the homes of the innocent. It hurts Wayson to think of it like that but he knew the truth. The Sith had already committed so many atrocious acts and don't seem to be changing course anytime soon.

The Jedi Knight had passion, which was both comforting and concerning for the old Master. Unlike many of the current batch of Jedi, Yvain was brought up in the old ways, where such emotions were frowned upon. Seen as easy paths to the Dark Side. Wayson like many of his contemporaries had to tread carefully when it came to their desires to fight the Sith, less they fall, giving further power to their enemy.

“It is a fine line we must tread, between our traditions of Peace and Harmony for all and battling the Dark Side which threatens us so.” He said, crossing his legs in front of him on the oversized chair. “I ask you, why do we have the right to give guidance and purpose to these people to fight, if they are not fighting already? Is that not just forcing innocents into a fight they want no part in? And how do we determine which words need new Governments? Ones that we disagree with their teachings? Dictatorships? Monarchies?”

Yvain’s thoughts and concerns had left the unfinished bowl on the side and were now directly on the young man before him. His thoughts were dangerous, both to him and the Jedi proper. But they were not entirely wrong, they just needed to be moulded and pulled away from the Dark Side. “If the people of these worlds you wish to hold ‘temporary control’ over choose not to fight. Will you force them? Will you take the food from their tables to feed our armies? The money from their banks to buy our guns?”

“Do not lose heart, I am not in total disagreement with you son, we must do something different. But what you speak of has many pitfalls. Pitfalls that quickly descend into the Dark Side.”
