Hanto was born to a family of farmers on Bilbringi, as the youngest among his five brothers. His older siblings tended the farm or moved out to work at the shipyards. Hanto, however, always dreamt of what lay beyond the gravity well of his home system. Being the youngest child, he received a lot of slack from his parents, even managed to get out of farming (for the most part) and dedicate his time to studies. Hanto wanted above all to see the stars.

When the sith discovered his force sensitivity, they whisked him off to Korriban for training. Hanto’s illusions of the greater galaxy shattered upon a violent collision with reality. The sith code, which he found highly appealing, preached freedom and passion. The sith themselves, however, cared little for anything but their own power plays. Even their empire suffered the cost for their obsession with personal power at the expense of everything else. Hanto had become just another pawn in their increasingly petty grand game. Resentment of the crashed dreams has followed him ever since.

As an apprentice, Hanto studied the arcane side of the force under his master. He had no appetite for combat and therefore specialized in stealth and subterfuge. He resented being part of his master’s intrigues and schemes, but an apprentice had little choice when it came to their master’s whims. Hanto learned what he could before becoming a sith champion. He looked forward to freedom and access to imperial resources.

During his apprenticeship, Hanto had learned one truth: the resourceful ones survived and thrived. All plans failed eventually, all powers could be countered. All strengths could be turned into weaknesses. Having fail-safes and quiet harbors could mean the difference between life and death.

It so happened that a short while after Hanto attained his coveted title of champion, the empire banished the Sith Order. He opted out of joining the imperial knights: he had had enough of catering to the whims of petty tyrants. Hanto liquidated what assets he could get his hands on and fled imperial space on his personal shuttle, with all it could carry. He contemplated returning to Bilbringi, but it was a little too mundane for his tastes. Besides that, he wanted to spare his family the hassle of harboring a Sith.

Hanto wants to try his hand at building his own life. The Force is his main asset, and the teachings of the sith are the guide.

Adventurous— few things appeal to Hanto more than a call for adventure. He is fast on the uptake and eager to immerse himself in something new, no matter what the norms may say.

Proactive — Hanto can and will seek out opportunities to achieve his goals, whatever they may be.

Curious — mysteries and just interesting things beckon Hanto like shiny things beckon crows. He can never quite ignore their call, sometimes even to his own detriment.

The Ends Justify the Means — growing up on a farm, Hanto had long ago accepted that good was relative. Humans need food, so natural habitats had to be destroyed. Sith need artifacts, so tombs need to be robbed. Hanto needs resources, so someone has to lose them. Why bother with the pretenses of nobility?

Risk-taker — Hanto is not afraid of risks. He claims any risk he takes to be justified, but are they really?

Callous pragmatism — if something can work to Hanto’s benefit, it should. The opinions of others are ultimately a distraction. Hanto justifies such a morally dubious stance by claiming that he is saving assets from petty tyrants. No, he does not find it ironic.

Rash — sometimes, a call to adventure may be the lure of a trap. Not all that glitters is gold. Most of the time, Hanto even pays heed to these pieces of wisdom.

Cynical — the sith training has left Hanto disillusioned with the world. Where before he saw a shining jewel in every star, now — he sees self-interest. It need not always be malicious, as Hanto does not consider his own motives malicious, but altruism is a novel concept to him.

Hanto looks like the kind of man one would see walking down the street and minding his own business. He has little care for pretenses of superiority that his fellow sith indulge in so often. To Hanto, his personal goals are much more important than any vague notions of supremacy. Life is a torrent of chaos, and grand goals are generally grand delusions.

When something piques his interests, he dives into studying it with frightening zeal, and woe to any person who gets to experience that curiosity. While not a fan of casual violence, Hanto will subdue his queries should they resist. They will reveal their secrets to him, as he dissects them. First, metaphorically, then (if needed) literally. During missions, Hanto tries to minimize destruction and pain around him, but exclusively for selfish reasons: assets should be appropriated, not destroyed.
